Annual Report 2019-20

Red Swastik Society was founded on 12th Jan

2001 by following 15 likeminded Samaritans with the

initiative of Shri T. S. BHAL, IPS - a Senior Police

Officer of Maharashtra Police (India), at the Hall of

Harmony, Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai. Today this

organization is blessed with several stalwarts from all

walks of life and all strata of the society. Some of them

are un-proclaimed institutions themselves, helping the

cause of service to humanity at large. The organization is

dedicated to a Sanyasi (a person who renounced all the

worldly pleasures) Swami Vivekanand, who was

instrumental to spell out Indian magnanimity, kindness

and concern about mankind and humanity, for the first

time before the world forum/community at Chicago

Convention on 11th September 1893 at the World's

Parliament of Religions, by proclaiming that-

"I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the

world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We

believe not only in universal tolerance but we accept that

all religions are true. I am proud to belong to a nation

and a religion which has sheltered the persecuted and the

refugees of all religions and all nations of earth."

The basic aim of this organization is to propagate the

Indian ethos, magnanimity and generosity before world

community under the banner of, once most popular and

revered symbol across the globe and all the religions of

the world - "Swastik".

The word Swastik owes its origin to one of the oldest

languages - Sanskrit. Swastik is an outcome of two words

su - asti, which means that good luck or well-being. Till

date Swastik is most popular, pious and

revered symbol in oriental cultures and in all most all

the religions of the East and used on all most all

auspicious occasions. It is regarded as a synonym of

good omen.

The prayer of this organization is an invocation of

hymns of Upanishads’ (books depicting religious

prudence) which means that let good happen to

everyone, let everyone get peace, let everyone achieve

completement.

In the year 1935, a charitable organization Red

Swastika Society was first founded by Buddhist Monks

in China which had done commendable work of

providing relief services during and after the attack on

the then Chinese capital Nanking by Japanese forces in

the year 1937.

There are several organizations in the eastern Asian

countries under the banner of Red Swastika Society

pursuing several charitable works.

A letter was written to Geneva Convention vide letter

no. NRS/1775/2006 dated 3rd 2006 for recognition of

Red Swastik Society for providing the charitable work

as per the guidelines of Geneva Convention. (it is under

process and persuasion).

We appeal earnestly to all those, who believe in the

principle of peaceful coexistence and world peace, to

help us to spread this organization, its message and

bring in practice the inherent, perennial & perpetual

wisdom and cardinal principles of oriental philosophy

"Jivo our Jino do"(live and let live) for common good

of humanity and mankind on this earth.

Managing Director’s Message

The year 2019-20 has been a rather eventful year

for us. We had many achievements and made

progress on several fronts. The annual report

covers these in detail. I wanted to focus a bit

more on the role that Red Swastik is playing

during current pandemic.

The COVID –19 pandemic has created an

unprecedented crisis for all of us. We are all

living amidst extreme uncertainty which effects

the country's marginalized and vulnerable

populations the most. It is indeed heartening to

see how NGOs and organizations like Red

Swastik have risen to the occasion in helping

these communities during these trying times.

As soon as the pandemic broke out in India, and

the country went into a nationwide lockdown, we

re-prioritized our activities. While we continued

to work on our long-term mission we identified

areas where Red Swastik could make an impact.

We raised an appeal to mobilize resources for the

vulnerable groups impacted. Our teams have

been deeply engaged in coordinating with our

partners to distribute covid protection kit to the

frontline media

personality. We can't see them as covid 19

affected we want them was covid warrior. They

are the source for giving us the news every minute.

On this pandemic year 2020 and meeting extra

ordinary people who really are far away from the

way of living. We tried our best to serve them to

see their happiness and smile on their face which

made us smile too. On behalf of the Board of

Trustees I would like to thank the team at Red

Swastik a for working so tirelessly and thank

branches for supporting us through the crisis. Our

affiliation

with them has helped us stay in tune with the

global trends and best governance practices. This

helps us in building trust with both our donors and

NGO partners.

Finally, I would like to thank our donors and

partner NGOs, who have supported us in

implementing meaningful development programs

across India. We, at Red Swastik are committed to

transforming lives and communities, and we will

continue to do so, with your unwavering support.

Shri Tikaram Shrawan Bhal Managing Director
