The festival of Holi is one of the major festivals of India. This festival covers in it many spiritual mysteries, but thesedays many people set aside morality and spirituality whilecelebrating it. They resort to such a manner that encourageseve-teasing and disorder because of which both in India andabroad, many civilized people have started even hating it.We must know the real and spiritual significance of Holiand celebrate it in a dignified manner, so that it may give anew direction to mankind.

The method of Celebrating HoliThe festival of Holi which follows the festival of Shiv

Jayanti, falls on the full moon night of the Phagun month ofHindu calendar year. The people celebrate it in four ways:1. They colour each other, i.e., inspire one and all tosynchronize their sanskars and nature. 2. They burn thebonfire of Holika, which symbolises the burning of theirvices and negative tendencies, habits and attitudes. 3. Onthis day, they meet and greet each other in ecstatic mannerwhich inspire us to make the feeling of jealousy and enmityvanish from within, from its root, 4. Many people depictShri Krishna swinging in the swing, which symbolicallyteaches that like Shri Krishna, we should also keep swingingin the swing of super-sensuous joy. Now, let us concentrateon the date and above-mentioned rituals of this festival.

In India, the month of Phagun ends on the full moon night. The burning of bonfire of Holika in the full moon night ofPhagun month stands for burning of mistakes and badthoughts of the past year in the fire and a firm resolve toremain happy and joyous from the first month of theforthcoming year, and follow purity/celibacy becauseeverything gets purified when it is immersed into the fire.

In addition to this, celebrating this festival at the end ofevery year hints at the fact that this festival was celebratedat the fag-end of the Kalpa, in Kaliyuga, after which Golden-Aged World of Peace and Happiness ensued and the sorrows, disease, disquiet and poverty also came to an end. But we

The Avyakt Murli of 27thFebruary 2014 offereda few significant, subtle

Godly signals. The followingelevated versions are worthnoting: “Keep expanding onspiritual services as much aspossible because anything canhappen suddenly. Therefore, keep increasing the levels ofservice as your own sovereigntyhas to be established. In theperfect and complete kingdom, you will enjoy your ownsovereignty”. To be worthy ofbeing rulers of the Golden-Aged sovereignty, the power of100% positive thoughts is thecriteria. There is an old saying,“A person who has conqueredhis mind can conquer theworld”. And it is also acommon understanding thatour mind is like a flying horse, and keeps flying from onething to another in the matterof a fraction of a second. Tocontrol one’s mind there isneed for very subtle, concen-trated effort during meditation.

The experiences of thosepractising Rajyoga Meditationhappen to be culminatingtowards that cherished goalwith regular practice anddedicated motivation. We aim

to live up to the expectationsof the Supreme Father takingcourage from the fact that theDivine wouldn’t ask us to dosomething if it was notpossible!

When we recall our age-oldplaces of worship and deeplyloved deities, we praise ShriLakshmi and Shri Narayan(Shri Radhe and Shri Krishnain childhood respectively) asrulers of the world in GoldenAge or Satyuga, but let’s trulythink about how they attainedthis supreme status.

The answer lies in anothersaying, “Nar Aisi Karni KareJo Shri Narayan Pad PraptKare” meaning the souls ofShri Lakshmi and ShriNarayan must have practisedthat art of living practicalRajyogi lives at the end of theIron Age (Kaliyug). Butinterestingly, this very factwould be forgotten by ShriLakshmi and Shri Narayandue to certain factors orreasons in the World Drama. It is only now that we are madecognizant of the essential factsof this age of Transformation.

Present day politics andchaotic scenes in different partsof the globe including relentless

GREATTRANSFORMATION

civil wars compel politicalthinkers to think seriously aboutthe future of the world. Therising tensions are compellingthe super powers to continuerefining and piling up theirnuclear weapons; this has led toa very delicate and dangeroussituation in many parts of theworld. The top political leadersremain busy throughout theirtenure in avoiding and defusingconflagrations which couldeasily lead to global catastro-phes. How long can they delaywhat seems inevitable byawarding Noble Peace Prizes tothose who manage the‘Activating Button’? With themultiplicity of social ills, ever-increasing price rises ofessential goods, love or ratherlust for political power by hookor crook, the circumstances arebecoming like nerve gases readyto kill anywhere and at anytime. These times are a mirror-imageof the Mahabharat epic. Thoughit is very frightening but theinevitable has to occur as it did5000 years ago. Unknown tomany, this will be the greatesttransformation for the better. Itis high time to awakenspiritually and re-connect withthe Supreme Being to bevictorious like the five Pandavs, whose minds and intellects wereguided by the Supreme Wisdomof the Shrimat Bhagwad Gita asis being retold directly by God,the Supreme Being.

The World Renewal, March 2014 5

Nearly 20,000 BK sisters andbrothers had gathered inShantivan for Mahashivratricelebrations. As usual, everyyear the number of aspirantssurpasses all estimates. Thesesisters and brothers, who haveawakened spiritually and wishto receive the Supreme DivineBeing’s blessings directlythrough the trance-medium,Dadi Hirday Mohini, belong tothe BK Spiritual Family. Theybelong to all known religiousbackgrounds and had previouslyimbibed a variety of religiouspractices during their lives spentin search. They, like otherdevotees, must have exploreddozens of paths until they wereinitiated and enlightened on thepath of Rajyoga Meditation. Most devotees and seekersendure such hardships to findGod and the Truth of Life:sometimes the pathways toreach places of worship getdestroyed in natural calamities, and pilgrims too get washedaway in flash floods. Manypeople start losing faith in theseplaces of worship due to the lossof lives of their near and dearones.

However, the sincere searchof souls, who go on to becomeBKs, for God and divinity in lifebecame the basis for finding andbeing found by the SupremeFather, God Shiva Himself.

DIVINE BLESSINGS ON MAHASHIVRATRITheir search has ended; theydon’t need to stumble or wanderany more by going to KumbhMelas or pilgrimages. This year,27th and 28th February were bothconsidered to be auspicious bythe Pundits for Shiva PujaArchana. As we all know, temples of Shiva, theIncorporeal, are spread all overthe globe and devotees maketheir offerings of worship witha lot of love, deep faith anddevotion. However most ofthem are still ignorant about GodShiva, as per His promise, having incarnated in Bharat 78years ago. His Re-Incarnationmarks the advent of PrajapitaBrahma as His corporealMedium to impart the truthabout His own identity as wellas the exact knowledge of Tridevor Trimurti: Brahma, Vishnu andShankar – the Angelic Trinity.

Through the corporealmedium of Prajapita Brahma,He bestows the highestknowledge or wisdom about theeternal relationship of humansouls with Himself (God). Healso imparts the exactknowledge of the Eternal WorldDrama of over seven billionhuman souls (Jeevatmas)playing their respective roles ofmaximum 84 lives spread overa period of 5000 years. What awonder that this eternal worlddrama keeps repeating cycle

after cycle like any successfuldrama of 2-3 hours! Accordingto the Cycle of Time, when wehuman souls search for our mostbeloved and wisest being,Supreme Father God Shiva, Hefulfills His promise of grantingus liberation from the ill-effectsof Maya (5 Vices) and guidesus back to the Soul World, andthen onward to the Golden Age.

We, Brahma Kumaris andBrahma Kumars, feel so proudand fortunate to have beenblessed with the third eye ofdivine insight for recognizingand reclaiming our God-Fatherly birthright to Mukti andJeevan-Mukti. What awonderful gift we receive fromShiva on Maha Shivratri!

On 27th February 2014evening, those of us whocelebrated Maha Shivratrireceived powerful visionthrough the trance-medium, andwere able to recharge our soul-batteries to the full resulting inthe experience of angelic, super-sensuous consciousness beforelistening to the Godly versions(Avyakt Murli). The feelingduring the Murli was trulyelevating as everyone wasenveloped in Avyakt BapDada’ssubtle lap of love. ThoughBapDada’s emphasis wasrepeatedly on the importance ofexercising control over thoughtpower, we felt so, so light

throughout the Murli. Each BKaround the globe must have feltso fortunate! The raising of theFlag, lighting of candles, cuttingthe cake in the company of theDivine, took us into joyousfeelings of deep innersatisfaction, and gratitude for thevaluable BK divine life whereinwe could enjoy God’s companyin reality for hours on MahaShivratri!

This has left very powerfulimpressions on everyone’spsyche and inspired us to takethe Godly message to everynook and corner of the globe,so that none of our belovedsisters and brothers is deprivedof Godly wisdom before thecurtain is drawn. Let the worldknow that God’s directions areso clear, valuable, timely andessential. Shiva, on Shiva Jayanti, congratulations, congratulations, congratulations to all thebeloved children! On this day,BapDada saw that, from themorning onwards, there was lotsand lots of happiness in

everyone’s heart for thememorial of the incarnation ofGod. This is because togetherwith the incarnation of theFather, you children have alsotaken divine birth.

“All of you have suchhappiness in your intellectsabout the incarnation of Shiva. The Father is also very, veryhappy for the divine birth of thechildren. Wah long-lost andnow-found, sweetest children!Wah! This is because along withthe Father, it is also the alokik, divine and worthy-of-worshipbirth of you children.

“At this confluence age, youhave also incarnated along withthe Father, that is, by taking aspiritual birth you have becomeinstruments for the task of worldbenefit. Together with theFather, you children are alsocompanions in every task. Allof you have the zeal andenthusiasm that this worlddefinitely has to be transformed.

“So, do you see in your heartthe sanskars of being constantlyfree from obstacles from now?Even before the obstacle comes,do I experience the stage ofbeing free from obstacles? Youhave attention, but the meaningof attention is ‘no tension’. Youpay good attention to this aspectbecause it is only now when youinstrument children becomeexperienced in the stage that isfree from obstacles that the

vibrations of your being freefrom obstacles will reach theeffort-making children.

“There is a need to payattention to your thoughts. So,check: Did I remain free fromobstacles in every thought? Noteven to have any wastethoughts. Am I paying thismuch attention to my thoughtpower?

“No matter how much Mayathere is of the atmosphere, theinfluence of the atmosphereshould not be an obstacle to thepure thoughts in your mind: letthere be success in this. Do Ialways have the Father mergedin my heart? Words and deedsare gross things, but even yourthoughts should not be wasteful.Although there are words andactions, when the power of yourthoughts becomes powerful, there will be a difference in yourwords and deeds.

“Unnecessary waste thoughtsalso take up your time. You haveto save that time. Is it possible? You have a lot of zeal andenthusiasm and so, well donefor that! Now, put that zeal andenthusiasm into your deeds. Byhaving the Father’s company, allwaste will automatically finish.

“There are specialcongratulations for this day andthere is also love from theheart.”

Q. God opens our intellectthrough knowledge.

What is the method to keepone’s intellect pure andclean?

If you have true love forGod, your mind will never goanywhere else. Mamma’smind never wanderedanywhere. She focused on theOne; Manmanabhav(Realising self as soul andremembering one God). Wesaw Brahma Baba in the formof penance (tapasya) asShankar and we want to be thesame. It has always been myaim to attain 100% in all of thefour subjects viz., Knowledge,Yoga, Inculcation of divineVirtues and Spiritual service ofmankind. By maintaining abalance of all the four subjects,we can become self-sovereign.I have to make my stage stable– all the four legs of a tableshould be stable and equal.

At the Confluence Age, ourself-respect plays a veryimportant role. The power ofone’s yoga, when it isconnected with Baba, makesGodly Service happen. This ishow service has taken place

throughout the world. WithHim there is no feeling ofbeing isolated or lonely. He isthe Truth. I have to keepmyself connected to Him andeverything then becomesright. By keeping the selffocused on God and actingupon His advice, the intellectwill become clean and pure.Q. How will people realizethat we are unique in theworld? How are the sistershere different from women inthe world?

Many people are inspired bythe divine knowledge. In theworld women want money, position and recognition butwe are different. We areBrahma Kumars and BrahmaKumaris. People arerecognizing the work we aredoing. If there is nocleanliness, the truth will notbe visible. If we are civilizedand simple, people notice that.People see that we don’t wasteanything.

Depression will never comeif we have good company andkeep attention on study. Wemust also perform spiritualservice. We have to give to

QUESTIONS andANSWERS

others what we have received.Q. How can we remain everhappy?

The first requirement forbeing ever happy is to keepgood company. Don’t harbournegative feelings for anyone.Keep the Comforter of Hearts,i.e. Dilaram Baba in yourheart. When can we win God’sheart? First, we should beaccurate in our life. We needto maintain purity of our innerself. Mundane, ordinary andegotistical thoughts decreaseour purity. Some have ego oftheir spiritual efforts or of theirphysical attributes, talents, skills etc. In such a mentalstage, one’s mind stays awayfrom truth. When truth isthere, the soul gets patience.Through patience, humilitycomes. Humility is veryimportant. When there ishumility, there is sweetness. Ifpatience is missing, what willhappen to your purity, to yoursweetness?

I wish all souls to have thefeeling of belonging, but notof attachment. The feeling ofbelonging keeps one safe. It

increases spirituality.... Onedoesn’t need to make anythingan excuse to go off in doubt. Each one has amazingspecialties. We should not wastetime in talking about people. Weneed to use our thoughts orenergy in a worthwhile way andin that way it gets accumulated.

Souls should now receivelight from far and they shouldbecome my companions in thedivine task. If we are completelyfaithful and trustworthy, Babagives the highest return. I nowjust have to be a renunciate; besimple and a sample. BrahmaBaba’s penance (tapasya) wasthe foundation of ForeignService. When I am free fromworry, only then Baba can getHis work done through me.Q. How can I overcome body-consciousness and inspireothers also to do so?

We are inculcating theknowledge of the Supreme Soul. One who has yoga over a longtime will reach Baba at the end...When one maintains a goodyoga stage – a clear connectionwith Baba, then it is not a bigdeal for him to experience abodiless stage. Let us discard allwaste thoughts and remain busyin serving mankind. Our stageof Godly remembrance providesimmense inspiration to othersand helps them to experiencesoul-consciousness–beyond allmundane attachments.

Praveen and Suresh areclose friends. As Praveen

has returned from anoutstation visit, they plan tomeet in a nearby park at 5 p.m.

When they meet, they havethe following conversation:Suresh: “I just joined drivingclass today. I started theengine and you know I was soscared. I felt nervous”.Praveen(listening patiently):“next?”Suresh: “What I believe is thata lot of confidence is requiredto drive on the roads, which Ifeel to be lacking in me. I amjust thinking whether todiscontinue driving class.”Praveen: “Listen friend, don’tbe disheartened so easily. Justget on. Continue for just threedays more”.Suresh: “Do you think all hada lot of confidence while theystarted driving?”Praveen: “Probably not”.Suresh (persuadingfurther): “Then how did theylearn the driving?”.Praveen: “They might havehad some amount ofconfidence initially andprobably as they practised, they developed moreconfidence.”Suresh: “Does it mean that itis okay to start only if we have

SELF CONFIDENCEAND SUCCESS

some self-confidence and thenduring practice, moreconfidence can be built.” Praveen: “Yes, you have gotthe point, but there is a word ofcaution by wise people”.Suresh (with keen interest):“what is that?”Praveen: “It will increase one’sself-confidence, which is good. But, beyond certain point, itmay harm.”Suresh: “Does it also meanthat there is the optimum levelof confidence?”Praveen (smilingly): “Yes,lack of confidence createsharmful effects like depression, loneliness, anxiety, etc.whereas over-confidencecreates arrogance, anger, feeling of supremacy, etc. Butit is better to play in thebandwidth of confidence, whichwil l ensure success. Andinterestingly, everyone has adifferent bandwidth”.Suresh: I understand it now.Neither under-confidence norover-confidence is good.Optimum confidence ensuressuccess, which is also termedas self-confidence.Praveen: “Yes, dear friend, now go ahead. My best wishesfor success in yourendeavours”.

There was once apowerful king namedH i r a n y a k a s h i p u ,

who did a lot of penance andmeditation and lived a verypious and virtuous life. Godwas very pleased with himfor setting such a goodexample for others to follow.God offered to grant the kingwhatever blessings, wishesor boons he desired. The kingrequested for a boon that “heshould die neither during theday nor night, neither insidenor outside a house, he shouldbe killed neither by any humanbeing nor be destroyed by anybeast, nor be annihilated bymetallic or wooden weapons”.The boon was granted to himfor his exemplaryglorification of and faith inGod.

Absolute PowerCorrupts Absolutely

After the boon wasgranted to him, the king wasso confident of the securityof sovereignty that his lovefor worship decreased, while his greed for powerincreased which changed his

humility into arrogance. Theking thought that since theboon had made himinvincible and invulnerable,he could rule forever andassume the role of God. Theking, overcome by the lustfor absolute power, decreedthat everyone in thekingdom should praise andworship him as God. Thesubjects fearfully obeyed theking’s orders. The king hadthe thought that after a fewgenerations, most peoplewould forget about theexistence of true God. Hisclever plans came to passand eventually he himselfforgot God and did, howsoever immoral, whatpleased him.

Prahlad—witness to amiracle

The king had a son namedPrahlad. Prahlad waspassing through the city oneday and saw a potter prayingto Vishnu whom the potterreferred to as God. Thepotter had inadvertently litthe furnace to bake his potswhen he realized that a litter

– B.K. Khem Jokhoo, Trinidad

of kittens was in one of thepots. He felt that it was toolate to save the kittens. Intearful prayer, he was cryingout to Lord Vishnu to savethe kittens as he believedonly Lord had the power toperform such an act ofcharity or miracle. WhenPrahlad heard this, he said tothe potter, “but you shouldpray to my father, the king, who is God”.Prahlad’s Realization of

GodThe potter then suggested

to Prahlad that he wouldworship the king if he, theking, can save the kittens.Prahlad was taken aback andbecame confused as towhether the king was reallyGod. The statement of thepotter worried him all nightand Prahlad returned to thepotter’s home to satisfy hiscuriosi ty early nextmorning. When the furnacewas eventually opened, thepotter as well as Prahladfound that the fire had notreached that particular partof the furnace and the kittenswere alive and safe. Prahladwas amazed to observe thismiracle and he immediatelyhad the realization that hisfather was not God, but animposter and fake. Prahladthen openly defied hisfather ’s decree to be

worshipped as God.Prahlad, a Child of God,

shows his divinityPrahlad began worshiping

God Vishnu to the greatannoyance of his father. Theking realized that his son’sdetermination couldundermine and erode hisabsolute power. The kingordered capital punishmentfor his son as a deterrent tothe people to see what couldhappen if they did notworship him. The king triedto get his son Prahlad killedby throwing him down froma hill, but as providencewould intervene, Prahlad wassaved. Prahlad was thenmade to sit into a fire butinstead, the King’s sisterHolika was burnt to ashes.Next he was put before alion, but the lion bowedplayfully and played withPrahlad and would not harmhim.

Greed for Power kills aFather’s Conscience

Finally, the king thoughtthat his instructions to killPrahlad were not carried outby his officers because theyall loved him. So he decidedto kill Prahlad himself todemonstrate to the entirekingdom what could befallthem if they blindly followedPrahlad. The king had a huge

city gate constructed withiron spikes at the top. Hugehollow iron pillars wereheated to glowing red hottemperatures. The kinginstructed Prahlad toembrace the fiery pillars if hehad so much faith that LordVishnu would save him.Prahlad was determined andreally had the faith that Godwould intervene and savehim from this cruelty. Hisfather, the king, bellowed inarrogance and dared Prahladto embrace the red-hotpillars.

Prahalad’s UnshakableFaith in God

Prahlad with firm beliefin God, thought that this washis moment of faith and thatGod would intervene.Prahlad saw an ant movingon the pillar and thought; ifan ant could move on the hotpil lar, so could he. Heembraced the hot pillar andthe pillar cracked open toreveal a living creature ofhalf man and half lion. Thecreature had the head andfeet of a lion and the bodyof a man. The king wasoverpowered as the creatureclawed into the king’s bodykilling the king by hurlinghim into the air where he fellon the spikes of the hugeIron Gate.

Flaws in the BoonThe big question is: how

could God kill the king, whomHe Himself had given aninvincible boon? God neverreneges on his blessings orboons. The answer to this is inthe revelation of God as onewho is beyond birth and deathand this is the sovereign secretof the Gita and in particularc4v1-9.

Revelations of the BoonLet us now examine the

boon of the king and how hewas killed. The king asked fora boon that “he should never bekilled either during the day ornight, or by anyone born ofwoman, or by an animal orbeast, or by metallic or woodenweapons as well as inside oroutside a house.

1st Boon – Neither in theDay nor during the Night

The period between theIron-Age and Golden Age iscalled the AuspiciousConfluence Age referred toin the Gita as PurushottamSangam Yug, when Goddescends, as stated in Gitac4v7. The Golden Age andthe Silver Age are called the‘day of Brahma’. The CopperAge and the Iron Age arecalled the ‘night of Brahma’.This period of 100 yearsbetween the Iron Age and theGolden Age, is called the

The World Renewal, March 2014 11

Confluence Age. This periodof ‘dawn or era oftransformation’ isconsidered neither day nornight. This is when GodShiva descends to destroy thedarkness of ignorance or theevils of the world at SangamYug or the Confluence Age.This descent of God Shiva iscalled “Shivratri”—ratrisignifying the Dark Age orthe period ofu n r i g h t e o u s n e s s ,irreligiousness orlawlessness. When Goddescends, He protects thevirtuous souls who becomethe instruments of God. Suchinstruments of God aresymbolized by Prahlad. ‘Theboon of neither day nor night’points to the ‘dawn’ or the ‘eraof transformation’.

2nd Boon – Not by anyoneborn of human-beingsThe Gita c4vs7-8 says that

when there isu n r i g h t e o u s n e s s ,irreligiousness andlawlessness in the world,God would descend toprotect the virtuous, destroythe evil and to re-establishdharma. God himself saysthat He is ‘abhogta’.God is immune to Birth

and DeathThe Gita is very explicit

that God is not subject to the

cycle of birth and rebirth.God is ‘abhogta’ means thatHe is above the bondage ofkarma, nature and matter. Therefore, if God is‘abhogta’, He surely does nothave a mother or father. Inthe Gita c9v11, God tellsArjuna, “Fools, not knowingmy supreme nature, think lowof Me, the Lord of creation whohas put on the human body. That is, they take me, who hasappeared in human garbthrough my Yogamaya (divinepotency) for the deliverance ofthe world, to be an ordinarymortal”.

God continues to advise inthe Gita c10 v3, “He whoknows me in reality as withoutbirth and without beginning, and as the supreme Lord of theuniverse, he, un-deluded amongmen, is purged of all the sins”.The Gita continues to pointout to the devotees that Godis never in human form, quote the Gita c7v24, “Notknowing My unsurpassableand un-decaying supremenature, the unintelligent thinkMe, the Supreme Spirit beyondthe reach of mind and senses, the embodiment of Truth,Knowledge and Bliss, to haveassumed a visible humanform”.

C7V25 continues to expoundon God’s form: “Veiled by My

Yogamaya, I am not manifest toall. Hence these ignorant folkdo not recognize Me as theunborn and imperishableSupreme Spirit, that is, take Meto be subject to birth anddeath”. Therefore, all theepithets in the Gita that referto Krishna are but the divineattributes of God Shiva whois the only One who canliberate mankind whentrapped in the chains ofRavana.3rd Boon–Not by Animal

or by BeastThe creature was

described as “half man andhalf lion” and was named“Narsingh”. The creaturecannot fit in the category ofeither man or that of animalor beast. Narsingh, whenspiritually interpreted means“the lion of mankind” whichis a title symbolic of Godalone.

4th Boon–Not inside oroutside the House

The Iron Gate wasconstructed so that it mightseparate the inside from theoutside of the palace. Theking died on the spikes thatpierced his body and holdingin place on top of the gate. Itwas neither inside noroutside. Symbolically, thisalso describes theConfluence Age or the

12 The World Renewal, March 2014

“dawn” of transformation.5th Boon – Neither by metallic nor by

Wooden WeaponsThe claws of the creature are not considered as

metallic or wooden. The claws here represent theweapon of ‘gyan and yoga’, the teachings of theGita. Recall how Rama killed Ravan with the‘Brahma Astra’ when all other weapons simplymade Ravan unconscious and could not destroyhim. The ‘Brahma Astra’ is not a bow and arrow, but it is symbolic of the weapon of Gyan and Yoga.Recall the ‘Sanjeevani Booti,’ the herb, thatHanuman brought from the mountain to cureLakshman. This herb is but the ‘herb of knowledge’which can conquer the forces of anger, greed, ego, lust and attachment represented by Ravan. This iswhy the Gita is considered the ‘Mother of allScriptures’.

Prahlad means ‘Child of God’The secret of this story is that the name ‘Prahlad’ is

the shortened version of ‘Prabhu Ki Aulad’ that means‘the child of God’. The kittens in the oven representGod’s faithful and virtuous children who will beprotected from the raging fire of the oven, symbolicof the ‘evil heat’, caused by the vices of anger, greed, ego, lust and attachment, the characteristicsof king Hiranyakashipu.

The story of Prahlad is symbolic of the Iron Agewhen the greedy and evil rulers high-jack the worldand its resources. They create chaos in religion, language, law, power and people, destroyingevidence of the truth, and create mass confusion. This is why the scriptures say that in the end, falseprophets would be honoured. It is only God whocan save this world and this is the significance ofHoli and Shivratri. The brorfire of Holika issymbolic of the burning of the old, vicious thingsof this corrupt and promiscuous world. Only Godcan fit the description of the One who possesses thedivine power to destroy the vicious and malicious boon.

The World Renewal, March 2014 13

Being a voracious readerof the Bible, I wasfascinated by the

electrifying personality ofJesus Christ. Yet I oftenwondered whether such anelevated personality was reallypossible? Can we find today acommunity of people as awhole practising what Jesustaught with his life?

Let us do an interestingexercise. We will make a chartof major things Jesus said anddid, and replace his name withthe pronoun he, and ask theworld: “Whose characteristicsare they?

Here is the chart:He led a life ofremembrance of God.“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark,” Heused to go to a lonely placeso as to talk to his heavenlyFather, as if engaging in anectar-time (Amritavela)meditation daily. (Mark1:35; John 8:1, 2). Thenagain during the day,

evening, and sometimeseven in night, he took timeto talk to his HeavenlyFather.—Luke 5:16; 6:12;Mathew 14:23.His life itself was ameditation, as if alwaysdoing, in principle, anopen-eyed meditation, ashe kept his ‘eyes single.’(Mathew 6:22) He had thereal eyes that saw theeternal behind theephemeral, or theSOURCE behind theresources. (Luke 11:27, 28;18:18-19)He practised celibacy;because he viewed allwomen as his own sisters.(Mathew 23:9) Hence, Henever looked at a womanlustfully. (Mathew 5:28)He had a great mind(Brahma, in Sanskrit)treating God as his Fatherand others as his brothersand sisters. (Mathew 23:9)Because of this, he wasnever influenced by his

fleshly family membersand relatives. (Mathew12:46-50) He was like abride towards God who isalso called ‘husband’(Isaiah 54:5) and doingGod’s will was likeintoxication to him. (John4:34; 6:38)He declared goodness orbeneficence (Shivam inSanskrit) as the primaryand exclusive attribute ofour heavenly Father; andHe is the source of all goodgifts. (Mark 10:18; Mathew7:11)

He knew he was a soul, hadexisted before in Heaven, and would return to heavenafter earthly life. (John5:24; 6:38, 62; 8:42; 13:1;17:5) He taught that ourHeavenly Father is “spirit,”or incorporeal. Thus heimplied all His children arealso spiritual beings actingin physical bodies; henceare the exact representationof His very being. (John4:24; 6:63 CompareEcclesiastes 12:7 and Mark12:26-27) He also taughtwe can choose to bepeaceful and pure souls, and become the children ofGod. (Mathew 5:3, 8,9)Hence he could ask us: “Beperfect, therefore, as yourheavenly Father is perfect.”

14 The World Renewal, March 2014

(Mathew 5:48)Every soul carries within ita sanskar (uniquepersonality traits) of one’sown making and actsaccordingly. (Mathew12:35)He believed every action(even an unproductiveword one utters) has equaland opposite reaction.(Mathew 12:36; 23:12;Luke 6:38)

He taught that many will notchange their sanskar, hencewill repeat their acts in theirnext birth too.—Luke16:31 Compare Mathew11:14; 12:32.

He declared vices such aslust, anger, greed, attachment, pride … asoriginating from body-consciousness, and showedperfect control overthem.—Mark 7:21-23;compare Galatians 5:19-21; John 16:33; 1 John2:15-17.

Purpose of life is to becomelike our Heavenly Father, manifesting His qualities inday-to-day life. What isrequired is only a change inattitude. (Mathew 5:44-48;Genesis 11:6) This ispossible because, Spirit ismore powerful than thebody.—John 6:63This Dark Age will be

replaced by Golden Age.(Mathew 12:32; Mathew19:28) Only those who areleading a Golden Aged lifenow will inherit GoldenAge. (Mathew 13:24-30)As the time passes by,Golden Age will steadilydecline in quality and oldhabits will resurface(Mathew 13:33, 52) andcycle will repeat.(Ecclesiastes 1:9, 10; 3:15)He knew the world willcome to its destruction withthe stock-piles of deadlyarms man hasmanufactured. (Mathew24:21; 26:52)

He taught that people willbe judged on the basis ofwhether they have lovedLight that has come intothe world or not.(John3:19-21)He stated that men andwomen are “images ofGod,” hence equal. Hechose to reveal the mostimportant spiritual truths toa woman who was from a“low” caste communitycalled Samaritans. (John 4)He declared that projectionof woman as inferior wasthe result of“hardheartedness” of someancient men, whichobviously has nothing to dowith Scriptures. (Mathew

19:4-8) God is not partialto any nation or religion;but goes by fruitage oneproduces (Mathew 21:43)When all the men whomJesus personally traineddeserted him, “manywomen” stood with him atthe direst moments of hislife, ministering to him.(Mathew 27:55) He praisedwomen as having keenerinsight into future andspirituality than men(Mathew 26:10-13Contrast John 6:60) andappointed women to impartvital spiritual truth to men.(John 20:16-18)

In brief, he lived up to hisname, Jesus, (transliteration ofthe Hebrew Jehoshua), whichmeans “Jehovah is salvation.”Jehovah means “I am that Iam.” (Exodus 3:14) Abrahamvery well knew the meaning ofthis name and had already putthe essence of it in a simpletitle as “the eternal” (`Olam,in Hebrew) in Genesis 21:33,which God Himself expandedlater as: “I am the Alpha andthe Omega … who is, and whowas, and who is to come, theAlmighty.” (Revelation 1:8)What better word can conveyGod’s name as the eternal (asopposed to the ephemeral—things that appear, remain forsome time and disappear after

a while)? He is THE SOURCEbehind all the resources; henceonly HE can become our saviour, the supreme beneficent; and onlyHe can become the valid objectof our love. (James 1:17) Thus,Jesus’ name was a roaringreminder to the world:“Remember God, because Heonly is your Saviour,” which isin essence all the teachings ofBrahama Kumaris put together.“Remember God and be pure”has been their most importantmantra from their very inception!

Now ask the world, whom theabove mentioned things identify.“That is what Brahma Kumarisdo,” people with keen insightwill answer. Similarity betweenBrahma Kumaris and Jesus is nota coincidence. The basis of God’schildren is always the same, itnever changes. (Mathew 5:44-48) Hence Christians canactually be proud of BrahmaKumaris who collectively proveJesus is practical, and whoremain pure and help the worldas light-bearers in this “time ofthe end.” – Compare Mathew24:3; 25:1-13

Childhood saysI am so happy and secure

It sings melodiouslyAll are mine and I’m for all

So I like those daysWhen I was small

It is so sweetAs sweet as honey

Childhood saysI want your love, not money

God also says:“My sweet child

Never forget those daysAnd remain content always”

When we talk of ‘womenempowerment’, we

generally tend to hit at thesymptoms and ignore the realissue. ‘Empowerment’, as isgenerally seen, does not meanto give some ‘powers’ towomen by some externalagencies. We talk a lot about‘women’s lib’ and movementscarried out discussing aboutthe issues that are in fact notthe main issues. We talk abouttheir ‘freedom’ without reallyunderstanding what ‘freedom’’means. If we want our womento be ‘free’ and ‘empowered’,they need not lay the blamewith this agency or that fortheir poor lot. They have tomake their own efforts toempower themselves if theyreally want to feel self-dependent, self-reliant andstrong. If women lay the blameon others, it will only create afeeling of bitterness amongthem and even women will feelhollowness within themselves.‘Empowerment’ should comeout from within and not fromwithout. No external agency

can make them feelempowered if they don’t workon themselves. If they startworking slowly onempowering themselves, itwill create a feeling offulfilment among them. It willraise their self-confidence andself-esteem.

Although as an individualone woman alone cannotchange the government, thesociety or the educationsystem, she can still becomean instrument for bringingabout a change in the societyin her small way. I know manyof my sisters who despite allodds against them refused tosuccumb to the pain andsuffering they were subjectedto. They instantly were lookedupon as a role model andchanged the way we look atwomen. Women have tomake their own efforts, if theywant permanent relief fromthe atrocities they aresubjected to; something whichenables them to enjoyfreedom, by cutting theirchains. They will have to stop

– Abha Mittal, NOIDA

blaming government, theirparents, the society or siblingsfor their plight and work on adaily basis to awaken theirown powers that are lyingwithin themselves. Being‘empowered’ is not aboutbegging for their rights or thefreedom to go out in ‘shortskirts’ or be draped in ‘burqas’.It is about feeling free frominside. It is about the freedomto say a firm ‘no’ when theyare asked to do something theywould not like to do; it is aboutto live and move outgracefully, it is about thefreedom not to allow to beseen or sold as commodity.

If women want to be asstrong and as powerful as thedeities we worship, they haveto stop looking at externalagencies for help. They haveto help themselves. If womenwant to live a dignified life, they will have to devote a fewmoments of their life tostrengthen their inner powers, however busy they might be intheir lives. It is about priorities.Once they develop self-confidence, outside help willalso come in. They will haveto believe that they are notweak individuals but capableof doing whatever they decideto do. Such self-empoweringprocess will not divide the

The World Renewal, March 2014 17

society into two belligerenthalves, each fighting for his/hersupremacy, but will create asociety which teaches them to livewith co-operation and respect.

Self-empowerment is not sucha difficult task for women, ifliving a dignified life is a prioritywith them. Even small amount oftime devoted constantly in theright direction can bring about‘great results’ in the long run. Ifonly a few women are able tonurture themselves and feel strongfrom inside, slowly they will workas torch-bearers to lead the wayfor other women also. Thenwomen will not have to fight fortheir rights; they will come tothem naturally. If our women arestrong, the children they nurturewill also be strong and we will beable to have a race that is strongnot only physically and mentallybut spiritually also.

The Brahma Kumarisorganisation is the greatest proofof women-empowerment.Brahma Baba played a vital rolein nurturing and harnessingwomen-power as a means ofworld transformation, throughself-transformation. Suchinspirational and motivationalleadership is the need of the hour,if we want to have a better worldwhere both men and women playa complimentary role aimed atmutual development.

The Power, whose name and form, no one knowsStill pulling the Immortal Rose (Souls)

Though the Seven lights bowed and danced over meHis Heavy rings of Aura uncoiled me from the Vicious

Great Powers of falling wave, wind and wild fireWith His soothing and harmonious choir

Encircle me, I love and sing into Prosperity and PeaceThat my old vices of 63 births may cease

Unfold His flaming wings and cover all aroundThe nets of His peaceful rays bow day and night

Dim powers of drowsy thoughtLike the pale cup of the sea

When Winds have gatheredSun and Moon burned dim

Above its cloudy rim,Let me reach the Highest Peak.

But let the gentle SILENCE,Wrought with celestial music, flow

Whither His (Bapdada’s) footsteps go.

In the process of spiritualprogress, there are threestages which one has to

pass through:–Bhakti (Devotion)Gyan (Wisdom /Knowledge)Vairagya (Detachment). As revealed to us by

Incorporeal God Shiva throughPrajapita Brahma, the TimeCycle of one Kalpa (5000 yrs.),comprises four main ages i.e.,Satyuga, Tretayuga, Dwapara-yuga and Kaliyuga. During thefirst two ages, called GoldenAge and Silver Agerespectively, all human beingsare virtuous deities. There isonly one religion, called ‘AadiSanatan Devi Devta Dharma’.There is complete purity, peaceand plenty. People do not haveany desires or wants, becauseeverything needed in theirlives, is naturally available inabundance. Since there is nodesire, there is no worry foranything. Desire in man is theseed of all vices. Desire is theroot cause of the loss of divinevirtues in man andsubsequently for the downfallof the human society.

As the people in the first two

ages live their lives in utterpeace and bliss, they do nothave the need to rememberGod or worship Him. They donot require any wisdom orgyan. They are all soul-conscious and not body-conscious. This period ofcomplete Happiness, Bliss andPeace is the first half of theKalpa.

The second half of theKalpa consists of Dwapara-yuga and Kaliyuga, calledCopper Age and Iron Agerespectively. The abovementioned three stages ofspirituality are applicable tomankind, in the real sense, only during this second half ofthe Kalpa which is full ofsorrow and disquiet. As manbecame body-conscious, hetotally forgot the truth that heis a soul and not a physicalbody. He identified himselfwith the name, given to hisbody by his parents. Hedeveloped attachment to allthose persons and possessionsthat belonged to him. Toovercome uncertainties offuture, he startedaccumulating wealth and

– B. K. Vijay Bhasker, Bhubaneswar

hoarding materials. Then hethought of safe-guarding hispossessions. Slowly hedeveloped a group of people, whom he believed to befaithful to him, to protect himand his property fromunforeseen situations.

As man became morepowerful and grew moreselfish, he stopped botheringfor the welfare of others. Soonvarious factions and groupswere created on the earth.Every leader of the groupclaimed certain territory underhis command and starteddictating terms to others in thatarea. Persons opposing himwere dealt with very severely. This situation led to rivalryand caused frequent fights andwars among different groups. Many a time, it caused warfareon a large scale. Thus, thewhole earth got divided intodifferent nations and variouskingdoms, so much so thatboundaries were demarcatedin skies and seas also toindicate their sovereignty.Peaceful living got vanishedfrom the world.

During this period of crisis, certain great souls arrived inthis World to guide theMankind on the path ofrighteousness. Abraham,Gautam Buddha, Jesus Christetc. gave the message of unityand universal brotherhood.Adi Shankaracharya initiated

The World Renewal, March 2014 19

the path of Sanyas. Many otherholy souls followed. All of theholy souls preached:–

The Supreme Father or Godis one.We are Immortal Souls, notthe physical bodies. We are the Children of thatOne Supreme Father and sowe are all brothers. We must love all and hatenone, and so on.But the mankind missed to

understand their message andthe decline of Dharmacontinued unabatedly. Peoplefollowing different faithscould not be convinced of theCommon Fatherhood andUniversal Brotherhood, aspreached by their respectivespiritual heads. Theycompletely forgot the innatepowers of the Soul and felttotally helpless. As the powerof soul diminished and miseryand sorrow increased, thesouls began to seek DivineIntervention. Man sought thehelp of The Almighty throughthe path of devotion. However,he did not attain spiritualevolution, rather devolutiontook place. Of course, technologically, scientificallyand commercially, the worldadvanced remarkably, butspiritually the mankindbecame bankrupt.

As we entered Kaliyuga, theIron Age, the moral and

spiritual deterioration ofmankind continued. Even theworship became polluted andselfish. As a result of thisspiritual degeneration, theWorld has become a virtualHell now. God has declared,“Sambhavami Yuge Yuge” inthe Srimad Bhagwad Gita. Itmeans that whenever there istotal decline of Dharma in theWorld, He will descend on theEarth to re-establish Dharma.Hence God incarnates on theEarth only once, near the endof the Cycle when theConfluence Age starts. Hereveals the Knowledge aboutthe Soul and the Supreme Souland about the relationshipbetween the two. Heenlightens us about the Soul-Consciousness and teaches usthe true nature and meaning ofBhakti. He liberates mankindfrom useless rituals andtraditions. In our last 84th

birth, He elevates us, i.e.,‘soul’ to the level of ‘deity’.

Now comes the third and thelast stage, that of disinterest. This is the supreme stage inone’s life. After knowing theTruth about the Self (soul), theSupreme Soul and the relationbetween these two, one losescharm in the physical cravingsof life. He slowly getsdetached from all the bodilyrelationships and fulfils hisduties selflessly, as a trustee.

He stops differentiatingbetween Thine and Mine. Hedevelops Love in his Heart andbecomes soft and sane in hisbehaviour.

True detachment ordisinterest never demandsone to abandon the society, theHearth and Home, and runaway into the forest, neglecting one’sresponsibilities. On thecontrary, it teaches Man to livein the society like a lotus inthe muddy pond, yetremaining unstained and pure.In the path of totaldetachment, there is no needof worshiping, performingrituals, keeping vows andfasting, singing hymns andchanting of mantras etc. Allthese activities are thestepping stones to reach theultimate stage of disinterest, where only love, peace andbliss exist. The person whoattains this level is the realsaint. He is unaffected by anyexternal circumstances. He isalways tranquil in mind andfull of love at heart. His looksand words are soothing andthey bring solace to thesuffering mankind. He is everintroverted and silentlycontemplates the SupremeFather. Such spiritual aspirantis really loved by God andindeed a great inspiration forthe fellow beings.

When God Shivadescends atthe confluence of

Kaliyuga and Satyuga, orSangam yuga, He bestowsthe knowledge to us soulsthat Time moves in a cyclicpattern and that all the fourages (Satyuga, Treta,Dwapar, and Kaliyuga) getrepeated every cycle orKalpa. A Kalpa is of 5000years duration.

The 100 year periodbetween the end of Kaliyugaand the beginning of Satyugais called the Confluence Age.It is the most auspicious agebecause God descends onearth at that time. In fact, itis the most elevated agebecause man becomeselevated.

When God Shiva comes,He sermonises Gita, andestablishes the OriginalEternal Deity Religion (AdiSanatan Devi- Devata

Dharma). This is the religionthat gets continued inSatyuga and Tretayuga .God’s descent andincarnation on earth isknown as Shivratri or ShivJayanti. Since Hesermonises the Gita, it is alsothe birth of the Gita.

Not only Hindus, but Jews,Christians and Muslims alsobelieve in the IncorporealGod. There are Shivatemples in every nook andcorner of India. The ancientnames of God such as ‘Shuin’in Babylon, ‘Seva’ or‘Sevajya’ in Syria, Egypt andFiji; ‘Sibru’ in the landoccupied by the progeny ofAbraham and Jehovah, arenot too different from theSanskrit word ‘Shiva’,which, according to somescholars, is the confluence oftwo phonetic parts, ‘shi’ and‘va’, meaning redeemer andl iberator from sins and

sufferings.The Supreme Soul, God

Shiva incarnates in theConfluence Age and educateshuman beings on how to leada pure and elevated life. Hissermons are called Shrimat. Itis the real Gita sermonised byGod Himself that becomesinstrumental in establishing anew world order, a newreligion called Adi SanatanaDevi Devata Dharma (TheOriginal Eternal DeityReligion).

From this entirediscussion, i t can beconcluded that God Shiva isthe sermoniser of the Gitaand we the souls living atpresent in the ConfluenceAge are the Arjunas to whomthe Gita is being delivered. Inthe Gita, we come acrossvarious names for Arjuna like“Gudakesa” meaning, ‘Onewho conquers sleep’. We, thesouls, are the Arjunas whoconquer sleep and have lovingtalk with our Supreme Fatherduring the Amritvela. So thetrue Gita is being delivered bythe Supreme Soul, GodFather Shiva, to us souls whoare all Arjunas. It is thus theGod Shiva, the sermoniser ofthe Gita, whose birthday iscelebrated as Shiv Jayanti inBharat as well as in the world.

Women play a veryimportant role formankind, as they

are the creators of tomorrow’ssociety. Ironically, women’splight, especially in Indianowadays, is a matter of greatconcern. Though the need ofwomen-empowerment hasbeen felt for many years, noconcrete steps seem to havebeen taken for it. Why do weneed empowerment? It is forthe simple reason: for the fearof losing one’s identity. In viewof the current world scenariofull of corruption, crime, terrorism etc., everyone needsempowerment–rich and poor, young and old.

As the circumstances aregetting worse day-by-day, it isthe womenfolk who have tobear the brunt more often thannot. They are exploited by menin many ways–intellectually, physically and mentally. Theyare abused, suppressed anddisregarded because thesociety is dominated by males.Throughout the world, rules

and regulations are flouted ormisused against women.Because of such animbalanced social set-up, wehave lost control over all goodaspects of life. Consequently,we have a multifaceted, crime-infested society, where everywoman or girl feels unsafeeven while being at home.

For about two millennia, women and girls have beendiscriminated against in manysocieties. The discriminationstarts right from the time oftheir birth, mainly because ofthe biased attitude of parents.Amongst Hindus, preferenceis given to the male child asthey are believed to be theirheir to continue the clan. As aconsequence of this approach, discrimination against the girlchild goes on unabatedly. Inmany cases, women getconditioned by the prevailingsocial atmosphere, but thegender-bias has always beenthere in most cultures in oneform or the other.

Though female literacy rate

in India has increasedsubstantially and women arenow playing crucial roles in allfields, they still have not beengiven their due status and havenot been allowed to enjoyequal rights. Often, men don’tseek or listen to women’sadvice, and neglect them. Many males consider femalesmerely as goods and objects ofsex-gratification or playthingsand keep them undersubjugation and in veil, orconfined within the four wallsof the house.

In India, about 49% of thesociety is constituted ofwomen. But if women areexploited and are not given aproper place in society, howcan we have a peaceful andharmonious society? Not onlyare women considered assecond-grade citizens in manycommunities and families, butare also insulted and treated asbonded labourers and slaves. They are looked upon asconsumer goods and aretreated as machines of child-production. For manycenturies, the daughter hasbeen considered inferior to theson and has been treated evenas a monetary burden on thefamily.

The role of women in thefamily has never beenappreciated appropriately bysociety. The womenfolk rear

and bring up the child, lookafter the family withdedication and sincerity, as adaughter, a sister, a wife or amother. They serve the societyin the true sense and contributesignificantly to its wholesomeand harmonious development.Let us ponder: Can there be ahuman society without womenor without their roles?Obviously, not! The biologicaland psychological roles ofboth the genders are pre-requisite for a well-knit socialfabric. The society needsmales as well as females andthey are inter-dependent. Whyare then women deprived oftheir rightful place in society? There is, in fact, the biologicalevidence that women aresuperior to men in certainrespects and it is generally feltthat the society needs thefemale qualities so that theremay be less crime and moreservice and sacrifice.

Women are embodiments ofSacrifice, Care, Tolerance,Love and Affection. One mustunderstand that they play amajor role in preserving andtransferring the cultural andspiritual heritage to thesucceeding generations.Women can impart betterlessons for establishing non-violence and endingcorruption. It has rightly been

said that “Deities dwell wherewomen are honoured.”

Since 1936, God Shiva hasbeen carrying out the divinetask of world purification. Hehas descended on the earth tofulfill His promise oftransforming the world fromhell to heaven. For this, He hasbeen teaching easy Rajyogathrough His corporeal mediumPrajapita Brahma so as to freethe souls from the bondage ofvices. To usher in the Golden-Aged world called ‘Satyuga’or Garden of Allah, He has putthe urn of knowledge onwomen’s head. He empowersmothers and sisters by givingthem due regard, imparts themthe most auspicious Godlyknowledge and raises theslogan: Vande Matram. Godhas clarified and advised usthat liberation of mankind willtake place only with theemancipation andempowerment of mothers andsisters. So, we must giveregard, respect and security towomen for saving the worldand making it a better place.

Men should allow women toenjoy their lawful rights andhave the freedom to spend apart of their time in reformingand serving the society.Women too should look uponthemselves as companions oftheir male-counterparts in the

service of the society. Liberty,Equality and Fraternity are thevalues which characterisehuman values and do not justrelate to men or women.

Women must also be awareof their ‘tender qualities’, e.g.,Kindness, ‘Motherly Love’which can’t be foundanywhere else in the world. Finally, if we want a happy,crime-free and harmonioussociety, both men and womenmust be empowered as perGodly advice, i.e., ‘Be Pureand Be Rajyogi’, becauseworld is going to change, andif we don’t change ourselvesnow, we won’t be able toqualify for the new world.

Moreover, there cannot betrue development withoutwoman-empowerment. So,what all men need tounderstand is to respect girlsand women, as theembodiments of Shri Lakshmiand Saraswati. The followinglines from a song of the movie‘Sound of Music’, arededicated to all women:–

“Climb every mountainSearch high and lowFollow every by-wayEvery path you knowClimb every mountainFord every streamFollow every rainbowTill you find your dream”.

“What a wonderful world”!

We all Baba’s children around the world anddouble-foreigners, would like to share this poemand song as a tribute to our very dear respectedB.K. Sister Dr. Vinay Laxmi, who left her mortalcoil in Madhuban on the 9th of March 2013.

As a universal angel to us and all, Sister Vinaywas one of the warmest persons we have evermet — despite her full time work in GlobalHospital and the villages around Mount Abu.

With a kind heart, she served the world atMadhuban as well as foreign countries, as anall-rounder. Her dedication and humility wereremarkable. As a humble instrument of God, sheserved with constant love, enthusiasm, generosity, determination, compassion and joy.

Sister Vinay Laxmi will remain in our hearts asan example and sample, Baba’s messenger ofLove and Dignity.

“I see trees of green, red roses too..

I see them bloom for me and you,

And I think to myself, “What a wonderfulworld.”

I see skies of blue and clouds of white,

Bright blessed days, dark sacred nights,

And I think to myself “What a wonderfulworld.”

The colours of the rainbow so pretty in thesky,

Are also on the faces of people going by,

I see friends shaking hands, saying “Howdo you do”,

They’re really saying “I love you”.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow,

They’ll learn much more than I’ll everknow.

And I think to myself, what a wonderfulworld,

Yes, I think to myself, “What a wonderfulworld” !

Few people say that lifeis all about living it tothe fullest. Some say life

is to enjoy; others think that ahuman existence is animpossible thing even for gods. Thus, live the life in a mannerthat you attain the goal of lifeand make your life a success.Watching a sad person makesus sad and by watching a livelyface we feel relieved of ourtensions; all our fatiguevanishes. Life is one but thereare different ways of living it.But picture this….. A face thatreminds you of God, seeingwhich you overcome anxiety, stress, tension etc. andexperience the waves of peaceand calm; how wonderful!

I am going to introduce youto such a life. In April 2013, Ivisited Mt. Abu forparticipating in a spiritualcongregation. We wereinformed that the next day, girlstudents of Shakti NiketanHostel would showcase apresentation at Diamond Hall.Apart from the otherpresentations, around 6-7 girlsshowed stunts and gymnastics.

It was an awesome feat – theway the girls wereperforming, the balance, theunparalleled courage andenthusiasm were incredible.Dadi Janki, the main (elder)teacher applauded them. I hadseen such feats and amazingstunts in the circus only andwondered: who teaches thesegirls? To appease mycuriosity, I visited these sweetlittle girls at their hostel –Shakti Niketan at Indore.

When I reached Indore, Irealized that this is the citywhich is known as the city ofMother Ahilya, an ardentdevotee of Lord Shiva.Naturally in such a holy cityonly spiritual and God likepowers would prevail.Basking in the glory of thebeautiful morning, I reachedPalasia, a posh area of the citywhere the office of BrahmaKumaris’ Indore Zone issituated.

There, I was taken on a tourof the facilities – the drawingroom, the dining hall, kitchen, computer room, office, thegranary, big meditation hall,

ANGELS OF SHAKTINIKETAN (INDORE)

library, the girls’ bedroomswith their double storied beds,a big roof top with solarsystem for hot water and thedough preparing machine. Theinfrastructure is incredible.

The Brahma Kumari sistersteach these young girls andunder their guidance thesesweet little angels carve theirfuture, become good enough tolend their services at the worldlevel. All sorts of training areimparted to these girls; I felt awave of boundless calm washover me as I saw the discipline, peace and sacrosanctatmosphere. I was veryimpressed and was short ofwords; I just don’t have wordsto praise them.

I was very keen to meet thefabulous girls because ofwhom I was attracted to thisplace and as if on cue the sisterintroduced me to these angels.

There are about 150 girls inthe hostel. In addition toacademic knowledge, theyalso gain spiritual knowledge.Simplicity, piety and austerityare their ornaments; byfollowing these traits they gainsaintly qualities. From thelength and breadth of ourcountry, right from Kashmir toKanya Kumari, the girls getadmitted to this hostel, according to their capabilityand the rules and regulations. Many sisters, who have beentrained in this hostel, have

The World Renewal, March 2014 25

been extending their servicesfor the moral and spiritualrejuvenation of the world.

After gathering the relevantinformation, I met the brightgirls; their simplicity, straightforwardness, humilityand affection attracted meautomatically. By looking atthem, we are reminded of theDivine Existence.

I am now recapitulatingmy conversation with thegirls:Q. How do you feel here?A. We like it a lot.Q. Don’t you miss yourfamilies, your homes?A. If one has attachment withone’s family, physicalseparation from it makes onesad. As we have gained trueknowledge that our real fatheris Supreme Soul God Shiva, and all of us are souls, we havegained insights to play ourroles while maintainingequilibrium. Due to thisspiritual awakening, ourworldly relations have becomevery blissful.Q. Do you face problemswhile adjusting with eachother coming from suchdiverse backgrounds?A. All of us are children of oneGod; we practise this conceptof universal brotherhood inletter and spirit here. As thereis understanding and

cooperation in mutualrelations, its naturalconsequence is harmony.Q. How do you understandsuch big facts at such atender age?A. At the hostel we areprovided proper training invarious disciplines— worldlyas well as spiritual. Regularpractice of RajyogaMeditation makes our visionand outlook broad as well asbenevolent.Q. India is a country offestivals. How do youcelebrate festivals? Do yougo home?A. We celebrate all thefestivals with a lot ofenthusiasm at the hostel only;each of them is celebrated withthe aim to spread somespiritual message. We feel a lotof inner calm and strengththrough this. The mostimportant festival is theAnnual Day of the hostel, celebrated in the last week ofDecember.

While all this was going on,I could see the glowing facesof the girls surrounding us. Icame to know that in thehostel, a senior and a juniorgirl stay together so that theexperiences and values arepassed on to the youngstersautomatically. I felt the set upwas like big computer

software; everything iscomputerized. These littleangels would in the near futureplay a large part in creatingpeace and establishing a newworld order.

This hostel is totallymanaged by the B.K. sisters;in today’s era where it isdifficult to raise even twochildren, here 150 children areraised keeping in mind that allmoral and spiritual values areintact. This would be like ariddle for the youth of todaywho are fixated mainly on newtechnology like mobiles andsocial networking sites. Theselittle angels, on the other hand, are hell-bent to reach the newhorizon.

Blessed are the parentswhose children are beingraised here. Salutations to theBrahma Kumaris!

The parents desirous ofadmitting their children in thehostel may inquire fromJanuary to April. Actualadmission procedures begin byMay-June. For additionalinformation please contact:

Dadi Chandramani’schildhood name wasMothil and she was a

multifaceted personality. Shehad studied up to 10th standard.Though her family was notdirectly related to BrahmaBaba’s family, one of her lokiksisters got married in theKripalani family and, thus, shewas related to Brahma Baba. However, before coming togyan, she had not met BrahmaBaba. Since her childhood, shehad special interest in yoga. She used to read scriptures onSikhism. Those days, it was aroutine practice to sing theprayer: ‘Oh Lord, you are ourfather and mother and we areyour children”. She

remembered God as father andmother. She had seven sistersand one brother who passedaway then. The husband of hersister also passed away. Therefore, there wassorrowful atmosphere athome. One sister and herdaughter used to visit theirhouse to give them solaceduring those sorrowful days. They told her about thesatsang of Baba. Then Babawas not staying in his ownhouse, but in the house of hisuncle (Father’s youngerbrother) named MoolchandAjwalla, where Baba wasstaying in a small room. Whenshe went to see Baba, she sawthat one sister there was lostin trance and was telling aboutSatyug such as aeroplanes etc.,and instantly DadiChandramani also went intrance. She experienced thatshe got detached from thebody. She did not know howlong she remained in the stateof trance. When she openedher eyes, she saw nobodythere.

Subsequently, she accepted

Baba as her mother, father andeverything. She felt a closefeeling of belongingness withBrahma Baba. She shared thatat that time, they did not havethe knowledge that Shiv Babadescended onto the body ofBrahma Baba. But, they felt akind of magnetic pull towardsBrahma Baba. His subtle stageand spiritual power attractedthem. Brahma Baba did nothave a worldly way of dealingeven with his wife, daughter,daughter-in-law or otherrelations. Baba’s lokik housedidn’t look like a house-holder’s residence but like agodly family. Her five generations came

to gyan. One day Dadi shared with

Baba about the sorrowfulatmosphere at her home. ThenBaba himself visited theirhouse and met her parents.Baba told her mother that ifshe came to the satsang, shewould get a child like SriKrishna. Then immediatelyher mother felt as if SriKrishna was in her lap andbecame very happy. Seeing

A tribute:

Dadi Chandramani

Dadi Chandramani was one of the prime jewels of Brahma Kumaris (the erstwhile Om Mandali)since its inception. She played very important role in spreading Godly services, particularly inPunjab Zone. Due to her fearlessness, she was called the Lioness of Punjab. B.K. Surendranfrom Bangalore shares his spiritual experiences with Dadi Chandermani.

this, Dadi Chandermani’sfather also started coming tosatsang. He gave up eatingnon-vegetarian food anddrinking. Subsequently, manyof her relatives came to gyan.In fact, there are fivegenerations from her familywho have been in gyan. Someare dedicated and others areleading a lotus like life whilebeing in household.

Yagya life and SpiritualEndeavours

Those days, there werearound 400 brothers andsisters staying with BrahmaBaba. There was very heavyworkload in the ashram.Brothers were very few innumber and many tasks, whichwere traditionally performedby brothers, had to be handledby sisters. Baba would say thatwhat work was being donewas not important, but withwhat mental state that workwas being performed, wasimportant. That is why theyused to do all types of worktogether with love andharmony. When Baba wouldpronounce the sound of ‘Om’,all of them would go in thestate of trance. Baba used tocall them as ‘Om’ Mothi, ‘Om’Radhe, ‘Om Rama’, to remindthem that they were souls.Baba’s house was known as‘Jasoda Nivas’ which wasconverted into ‘Om Mandali’.

Once, Dadi asked Babawhether she should give upfurther studies but Babaadvised her to continue herstudies. After six months,Baba opened a school forchildren and she was selectedas English Teacher. As itsprincipal, Brahma Baba usedto visit different classes andtaught different subjects. Atthe end of the day, he wouldask for a daily report of theactivities. He would advise theteachers not to scold thechildren but teach them withlove and care. Baba was veryparticular about the children’smental and physicaldevelopment. Observing hercalmness and simplicity,BapDada gave her the spiritualname ‘Chandramani.

Dadi Chandermani used tovisit Bangalore frequently forconducting specialcongregations like Bhatti etc.,and also public serviceprogrammes because DadiHridyapushpa, who was herlokik elder sister, had becomeinstrumental in starting theGodly Services in SouthernIndia and she was the Zonal In-charge of Karnataka, with herheadquarters in Bangalore. After Dadi Hridyapushpa lefther mortal coil in 1995, DadiChandramani was entrustedwith the additionalresponsibility to administer the

The stress in life today istruly omnipresent andomnipotent. Tensions,

unhappiness, worries andfrustrations in Mind give riseto a group of diseases calledStress Associated Diseases orSADs. Sadness is natural dueto expensive treatments anddifficult doctors. The currentterm for SADs is NCDs orNon-infectious ChronicDiseases. This category isincurable by modern medicine.Tablets, capsules and even thepessaries become a staple dietfor the unfortunate person.Quality Of Life (QOL) comesto the lowest nadir. Many wishfor euthanasia. An independentdepartment in MaharashtraHealth Services has been setup to deal with the problem ofNCDs. Many today suffer fromChronic Fatigue Syndrome(CFS) because people do nothave quality sleep and sufferfrom a sleep backlog. Fastbrain with very fast thoughtsrapidly exhausts the God-given quota of neurotrans-

mitters. Suicides happenbecause of the sudden drop inthe level of neurotransmitters.

Two latest branches ofMedicine – Psycho-neuro-endocrino-immunology(PNI)and Psycho-Oncology areinvestigating why NCDs likeHypertension, Hyperacidity,Heart attacks, Diabetes,Dementia, Alzheimer’s,asthma, insomnia, obesity, addictions, cancer and severalothers have become incurable. This new medical science iscalled as Mind-BodyMedicine. Disease-centricstrategies like cardio-centric,Diabeto-centric, Condom-centric and Obesity-centric aregiving a medical paradox ofalarming rise in the incidenceof the diseases against whichthey are directed. Every thirdIndian today has twin diseases– Diabetes and High Bloodpressure. Obesity has becomea global epidemic. Depressionis affecting even the schoolgoing children. Even theyoung doctors are dying of

NEUROGENETICS,NCDs AND

DISEASELESSNESS— Dr. Dilip V. Kaundinya MD, Mumbai

heart attacks. Sex-crimes,mindless violence and Ragesyndrome have increasedalarmingly. Abnormal greedhas given rise to Scam afterScam Syndrome (SASS).There is a collapse of all thedimensions of Total Health–physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual.

The main reason for this ishaving unlimited wants. But aMind-centric Strategy isconspicuous by its absence.Hippocrates, Father of ModernMedicine, many years ago, hadcautioned: The greatest errortoday is that the physicians donot take the soul into accountfor therapy. The doctors arecommitting the same mistaketoday. They are neglecting themind, the third component ofthe soul. The reason for thiserror is the training in Westernconcepts of Medicine whichwholly focuses on the mattersof the body. Sheldon describedthree morphotypes–Ecto,Meso and Endomorph andtheir relationship with the

The World Renewal, March 2014 29

diseases. On the other hand,1000-year-old Charak Sanhitaclassifies personality into 15types according to the type ofConsciousness, each onerequiring different therapeuticstrategy involving Herbs, metals and meditation. TodayCharak Sanhita is consideredas a treatise on “Whole PersonMedicine.”

Three main levels ofconsciousness are Satvik,Rajasik and Tamasik.Ontological (Satvik) denotes apeaceful, loveful, blissful, pureand the most powerfulpersonality. Highest categoryin Ontological personality isknown as Brahma type whichis ever youthful and almostdisease-less. Rajasikpersonality pursues the Path ofPreyas and wastes his Life-force [Prana] in the pursuit ofsensual pleasures, temptationsand materialistic gains andsoon becomes a prey todiseases and prematureageing. Tamasik personality isfull of sloth, laziness anddevoted solely to the pleasuresof food and sex.

Charak further describesfive body-sheaths thatsurround the innermost Atmanor Soul. Annamaya kosh is thesuperficial-most layer. All ofthe drugs in Modern Medicine

act only up to Annamaya Kosh. Thus, the root cause of thedisease is never addressed. Nowonder there is resurgence orrecurrence. Pranayamremoves the impurities fromthe Pranamay kosh and givesa miraculous cure of asthmaand allergies. The free radicalswhich are formed due to stressand are responsible foroxidative damage, are possiblyremoved by Pranayam.Meditation removes theimpurities in Manamay Kosh(Mind). Negative thoughtsand toxic emotions (DanielGoleman) are these impurities.Scriptures describe them asDesires, Negative thoughtsand powerful chain ofderogatory thoughts. Today,Patanjali’s Dhyan becamebaptized as MindfulMeditation by Dr. RichardDavidson, Professor ofPsychiatry, U.S.A. It is nowconsidered as the mostpowerful technique for Mind-empowerment and Mind-control. Mindful meditationstabilizes the Mind inpowerful and pure Satvik(ontological) consciousness.Such mindset is not motivatedby Self-interest. It adheres tovalues like honesty, sincerity, integrity and positive emotionslike love, hope and happiness

under most adversecircumstances. Stabilization inontological consciousnessgives a Spiritual equipoise(Sthit-pragnya state).

Neuroscience has provedthat a positive state of mindhas a great role in maintaininghealth and in prevention andcure of NCDS or ModernLifestyle diseases. Russianexperiments with thought-power opened an entirely newfrontier in modern medicine. The concept of thought is theinstrument for healing. Apositive mind transmitspowerful and pious thought-vibrations and creates a white, bright and well-demarcatedbody-aura around the person. This is similar to the haloshown around our deities.Hypnosis or mesmerizing theother persons is possible forsuch a thought-empoweredindividual. The positivethought-vibrations purify theatmosphere and also giveactivation of Ultracleanrhythms of the body releasingvery powerful rejuvenatinghormones. Encephalin gives a‘Cholesterol-wash’ to the heartvessels by ‘Reverse, transportof Cholesterol’. Intractablelipid and sugar levels arerestored to normal. Endorphinis a natural and very powerful

mood-elevator and pain-killer.The miracle of RamanaMaharshi undergoing asurgical procedure withoutanaesthesia may be due to thisneuro-hormone. Melatoningives sound and rechargingsleep. Brain-derived-Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF)enhances memory by givingmultiplication of brain cells. No wonder people calledEkpathy could rememberVedas after hearing them justonce. A kriya-yogi couldpossibly retain his wit, vitality, vision and vigour till lastbreath as told by the sagePatanjali. A recent concept–Stem Cell Activation Factor(SCAF) released duringmeditation shall meanrecreating any damaged organwithout transplant orexpensive stem cellimplantation. All of theseneuro-hormones are powerfulactivators for the NaturalKiller cells which destroy thecancer cells no sooner they areformed in the body. This maybe the reason for doubling ofthe life-span of the cancerpatients and for several ofthem becoming cancer-free inCarl Simonton’s Psycho-Oncology Institute, USA by aMindfulness MeditationProgramme. Allen’s brainmap reveals several Cerebral

genes or Brain-genes, whichactivate the harmful somaticgenes [Body-genes] that giverise to the diseases likedepression, Diabetes,Dementia, Alzheimer’s andmusculo-skeletal disorders. The neuro-hormones secretedduring Mindfulness possiblyinhibit the enzymes andprevent the dreadful diseases.

The effects of theatmosphere charged withpositive thoughts are simplyunbelievable. Dr. Hew Len’smodification of MexicanHo’oponopono and JamesTwyman’s Globalconsciousness project provideevidence, which as yet, isbeyond the scope of science toexplain scientifically. A studypublished in The journal ofoffenders’ rehabilitationreports that a group of peopleregularly met and meditatedwith the thoughts of Love andPeace for the whole world overa period of two years. Thissimple act reduced all acts ofterrorism by phenomenal 72%.Violent crimes in WashingtonDC have been reduced by23.6% in just two months’period. As soon as themeetings of the meditatorsstopped, the crime levelstarted going up again. Fiftydifferent scientific studies overpreceding 30 years have

shown that the meditatorscreated miraculousimprovement in the health andthe Quality Of Life (QOL).Along with the impact onhealth and emotions, there wasa decrease in crimes, wars, violence and riots. JamesTwyman, who led severalgroup synchronized prayersthroughout the world throughhis ‘Global consciousnessProject’ functions on theconcept that the tsunamis ofthe world are the reflectionsof the tsunamis in the humanminds. These studiesestablished a plain and simpledictum for health and solutionsto the calamities in the worldlays in healing yourself. Self-transformation shall bring theworld-transformation.

Dr. Hew Len’s HawaiianHo’oponopono – Dr. Len apsychiatrist was made in-charge of a ward where theykept criminally insane anddangerous patients.Psychiatrists quit on monthlybasis. Dr. Len did aninnovative act in addition tothe usual therapy–his versionof Hawaiian Ho’oponopono. In his chamber, he held eachpatient’s file and kept onsaying “I am sorry” and “I loveyou” over and over again.Within a few months, amiracle happened. The

The World Renewal, March 2014 31

patients who were shackledwere allowed to walk freely.Others, who had to be heavilymedicated, started getting offtheir medication. Those whohad absolutely no chance ofgetting released were freed.Absenteeism and the turn-overof the staff disappeared. Soonthe staff outnumbered thepatients and today the ward isclosed.

Dr. Peter Gariaev carriedout numerous experimentswith thought-power. One ofthem is most relevant. Hecreated Alloxan-Diabetes inrats by destroying thepancreas with this chemical.Such rats died within 4 to 6days due to Type-1 Diabetes.Dr. Gariev then removed thepancreas from a healthy rat.

MEDITATION AND HEALTHEach original quality of the self or soul is specially required for nourishing and empoweringone human body system. The quality of peace is responsible for taking care of therespiratory system, joy for the gastrointestinal system, love for the circulatory system, bliss for the endocrine system, knowledge for the brain and nervous system, purity for theimmune system and the five senses and power for the muscular and skeletal systems.

Each one of us has at least one body system, which is most prone to disease. When ourmind is under the influence of stressful emotions, there is a decrease in the flow, from thesoul to this body system, of that quality which is required by it for its nourishment, whichleads to the development of disease in this system over a period of time e.g. when anindividual with a weak respiratory system is in a negative state of mind, there is a decreasein the flow of the quality of peace to the respiratory system which in turn can lead to adisorder like asthma.

Then he shined a non-burning green laser beamthrough the healthy pancreason to the rats poisoned withAlloxan. Amazingly, the ratswho received this noveltreatment showed fullrecovery. They continued tolive like perfectly normalrats. Three different researchprojects in 2001, 2002 and2003 replicated Gariaev’sfindings. The green laserbeam as well as our thoughtsis a form of photo-electricenergy. Patanjali haddescribed that a single-pointlaser beam focus of positivethoughts could be created bythe technique of VruittiNirodh (restraint of one’sinstincts) and one couldachieve the conquest of

ageing NC diseases. Theexperiments of thepracticants of Rajyogameditation taught by theBrahmakumaris organisationalso endorse the efficacy andimportance of thoughts inhealing both mind and body.

In short, beware of whatkind of thoughts your mindis having and where it isvisiting, because sooner orlater your body shall followit there. MindfulnessMeditation Programme astaught free of cost in Sir J.J.Hospital, Mumbai, couldeasily give you a disease-lessstate with delayed ageing.Incurable disease meanswhose cure lies within andthe word “Healthy” actuallymeans “Heal Thy.”

In ancient times, therelived an artist in a smallkingdom. He had been

gifted by God with wonderfulmastery in drawing pictures. The beautiful pictures madeby him with wholeheartedeffort used to attract people’sattention. One day he made acolourful picture and hung itat the public plaza, situatedin the centre of the town. Thepicture soon got the attentionof the passers-by because ofits strangeness. It immedia-tely became the centre ofattraction and the talk of thetown. The picture wasapparently of a man, but itwas unrecognizable becausehalf of the man’s head hadhair which covered his face, and the other half of his headwas bald. The man in thepicture had long legs withwings on its feet. Thespectators looked at thepicture and interpreted itaccording to their ownperception.

Nobody could surmise thehidden meaning of thepicture. Gradually, the King

also came to know about thestrange picture. Curious toknow its hidden meaning, theking went to the Artist andasked him, “Well, you havemade this picture with greatsincerity and concentration;but whose picture is it? Whydoes one part of the headhave hair and why is theother half bald? Anotherstrange thing is the long legswith wings on its feet. I amkeen to know the hiddenmeaning behind the picture.”The Artist very humblyinformed the king that thepicture was of ‘TIME’actually. The king couldn’tbelieve his eyes and askedhim to explain it in detail.

The Artist then explained,“Well, My lord, as far as theface is concerned, it iscovered and is unrecogniz-able; it symbolizes the factthat human beings whileaway most of the timeuselessly, awaiting betteropportunities to come butwhen golden moments comeand knock at his door, hefails to recognize it because

– B.K. Sunita, Delhi

its face is hidden. That is whyI have covered the face oftime with its own hair. Next,My Lord, I would like to tellabout the half bald head. Manfails to recognize theauspicious time from front asit’s hidden; but when theauspicious time passes away,he realizes that he has missedthe golden opportunity. Hethen tries to chase to hold theplait of time and bring itback, but in vain because noone has the power to bringtime back! That’s why I haveshown half bald head whichdoesn’t have plait and isbeyond man’s hold. Now, Iwould like to tell about thelegs in the picture and feetwith wings; when mancannot hold the plait of time,he runs after the time that hasalready passed. The legs oftime are shown very longbecause time runs very fast.Seeing time running ahead, man also runs fast to stop thefast speed of time but verycleverly time skips fromman’s hold and flies away insplit of seconds. So the feetin the picture have wings too.By the time, man realises theimportance of ‘TIME’; it’stoo late, and there is onlyhelplessness and regret left.”On listening to the explana-tion, the king was

IT’S TIME TORECOGNISE GOD

The World Renewal, March 2014 33

flabbergasted. He applaudedand rewarded the wise artisthandsomely for depicting‘Time’ in a realistic way.

The above story has greatrelevance to the present time,as it is the most auspicioustime termed as ‘TheConfluence Age’ or SangamYug, a period of dawn whenthe Supreme Soul incarnatesin the corporeal form ofBrahma, the father ofHumanity to enlighten thesouls with the Power ofDivine knowledge and EasyRajyoga. Everyday, Heimparts the beautifulknowledge to liberate usfrom the hold of vices whichhave rendered us miserable, peaceless and made usorphans. Now, like amagician, the Supreme Soulis transforming us fromthorns into fragrant flowers. The vices have made us dirtyand God removes our dirtthrough the furnace of yoga.

We souls were once vice-less like pure gold but due tothe alloy of vices, the divinevirtues which adorned thelives of souls got diminishedand ultimately lost. Now,when God, the AlmightyAuthority, is getting thisalloy removed andtransforming souls to such a

level that they becomeworthy of living in paradiseor Golden Age, it’s time thatwe follow the elevatedteachings of the SupremeAuthority in our day to daythoughts, words and actions. We are fortunate to be therecipients of this divineknowledge and have Himwith us, so we should notleave any stone unturned toremove the filth of vices. This is the only time in thewhole cycle of 5000 yearswhen we can experience truepeace, knowledge, love, power, purity, bliss, prosperity and above all theenjoyment in companionshipof God which cannot beexpressed in words.

The peculiarity of thisConfluence Age is that wecan take as much inheritanceas we want and enjoyconstant health and wealth infuture also. So when thebestower of peace is here on

this earth, playing His part ofreformation of the hiddenentity, i.e., ‘soul’, that desiresconstant peace and has beenwandering here and thereseeking from all availablesources but in vain, isn’t it aGolden opportunity for us touse every bit of it to enjoy thefruit showered by thesweetest Almighty Father inthis ‘Diamond Age’? If weoverlook this special time ofknowing the Almighty andobeying Him, we are boundto only regret and get into hotwater. It will be too late. Sowhy not wake up, be serious, follow the ultimate authorityand adorn ourselves with thedivine knowledge? By doingso, we can come up to God’sexpectations, accompanyHim with pride and receiveall His blessings.

Remember: Time does notwait for anyone; so make themost of it…

must ponder here: Has theburning of wood or dung in thebonfire of Holika finishedeveryone’s miseries and painsand will it finish them ever? Itis clear that it is not the fire ofdung etc. but the fire of Godlyremembrance in which our badresolves, thoughts and wordswill be finished and throughwhich we will be able to attaincomplete peace and prosperityin the new world or Paradise. Thus, this festival inspires usto connect our mind andintellect with the Supreme SoulGod Shiva who is called theOcean of Purity, Peace, andProsperity. That is why Holifollows Shivratri (ShivJayanti), which symbolizes thevery fact that God Shivadescends on this earth at theend of the world cycle and thenonly the human souls whoconnect their mind andintellect with Him, receivecomplete Peace, Prosperity andPurity.

The meaning of HolikaOn the occasion of Holika,

people roast the fur of wheatand barley. In the spiritualparlance, penance has beenlikened to Knowledge (Gyan)and Meditation (Yoga) – as aroasted seed cannot producenew fruit, similarly, any deed

performed in knowledgeablestate cannot take the form ofmisdeed/wrong deed. Hence,Holika also symbolizes thatSupreme Soul God Shiva givesthe most benevolent advice foremancipation of all souls of theworld, at the end of Kaliyuga. That advice is to roast the seedof Karma in the fire ofKnowledge andRemembrance. All of us mustfollow this advice and weshouldn’t consider Holi merelyas the burning of some woodsand dung, but a reminder toburn the old and pollutedresolves in the fire of yoga andperform karmas in the state ofsoul-consciousness (yog-yukt).

In other words, Holiconnotes: 1. Past is past, i.e.,one shouldn’t be worried aboutwhat has already happened, butshould pay attention on future,by doing everything in thedivine remembrance of God,i.e., yogyukt. 2. ‘Ho-li’ meanswhat has already happened,in Hindi. I, the soul, have nowsurrendered myself to GodShiva; therefore, from nowonward I will perform all mydeeds as per God’s directionsor advice. 3. Holi ispronounced similar to the wordHoly in English, which meansto be pure; therefore, the

Karmas performed by usshould not be influenced byany vice. Thus, the festival ofHoli inspires us in many ways.

Colours on HoliKnowledge also symbolizes

colour. A knowledgeableperson colours those who arein his company, i.e., he givesthe spiritual knowledge toother souls and tells them themethod of forging their mentaland intellectual link with Godand receiving powers fromHim.

Human beings can’t beblissful unless they colourthemselves as well as otherswith the colour of Knowledge. It is only through one’s blissfulcommunion with God that wecan experience divine delights. How can a human soulexperience communion withGod? Nowadays, ignorant orvicious human beings, influenced by Sex-Lust, Anger,Greed, Attachment and Ego,become a cause of misery andmisfortune for others. One canexperience the delightfulcommunion only when theOcean of Knowledge cleansesthe soul, i.e., burns the vices—negativity or polluted traits ofthe soul—in the fire ofKnowledge and GodlyRemembrance. This is the trueHoli.
