Setiap mahasiswa mengerjakan 2 soal yang terdiri dari 1 soal umum dan 1 soal khusus.
Soal dan hasil pengerjaan harap di-upload via klasiber sebagai pengganti absen minggu ke-3
Batas waktu upload adalah mulai dari hari Kamis, 28 Maret 2013 jam 15 WIB sampai dengan hari
Kamis, 4 April 2013 jam 12 WIB.

Soal Umum (dikerjakan oleh semua mahasiswa)
The 1993 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation contains standards for 84 chemicals
and minerals in drinking water. According to the EPA one of the most prevalent of the listed
contaminants is naturally occuring antimony. The maximum contaminant level for antimony and
nickel has been set at 0,006 mg/L and 0,1 mg/L respectively.
A laboratory analysis of your household drinking water shows the antimony concentration to be 4
ppb (parts per billion) and that of nickel to be 60 ppb. Determine if the drinking water is safe with
respect to the antimony and nickel levels.
Assume density of water to be 1,00 g/cm3

Determine
a) weight fraction of methane
b) average molecular weight of the LNG mixture
c) partial pressure of methane when the total pressure on the system is 1,013 x 105 Pa
d) mass fraction of propane in parts per million
2. A natural gas is analyzed as: CO2, 4%; CH4, 77%; C2H6, 5%; and N2, 14%. Determine the following
properties of the gas mixture:
a) mole fraction of C2H6
b) weight fraction of N2
c) average molecular weight of the natural gas mixture
d) partial pressure of each component if the total pressure is 1500 mmHg
3. Air is contained in a 30 m3 container at 400 K and 1,013 x 105 Pa. Determine the following
properties of the gas mixture:
a) mole fraction O2
b) weight of mixture
c) average molecular weight of mixture
d) partial pressure of N2
4. Mixture of gases is analyzed and found to have the following composition: CO2, 12%; CO, 6%; CH4,
27,3%; H2, 9.9%; N2, 44.8%. Determine the following properties of the gas mixture:
a) weight fraction CO
b) average molecular weight of the gas mixture
c) mass fraction of H2 in parts per million
d) partial pressure of CO2 when the total pressure on the system is 1,013 x 105 Pa
