Abstract :The research aims to find out the authority to give information to patients, what kind of information given to patients, how the information given ti patients, right to give agreement for medical treatment, and the completeness of filling up informed consent format with descriptive survey research. The result show that the implementation of informed consent does not run well since the nurses still participate in giving information on medical treatment to patients; not all information on medical treatment especially the risk of medical treatment is obtained by patients; the patients are not independent to agree medical treatment; and the filling up the informed consent format is not complete. It is suggested that the doctors need to give complete and in-depth information and use language that can be understood by patients either in polyclinic, long-stay ward or in operation room. It is also necessary to give clarification on medical treatment according to the level pf its risk and it is documented clearly (in a written form). Besides, it is necessary to improve nurses function in the implementation of informed consent and its documentation.
