This Flow Map illustrates how the brain processes information. The first 2 boxes illustrate the demonstration done

earlier with areas of the brain. The box with the dumper truck illustrates the idea that working memory has limited

space. The maps help students chunk information which allows them to learn more in a shorter amount of time. The

two boxes after the construction sign illustrate the need for actie student processing in order to !moe" information

into long term memory. #tudents who create the Thinking Maps hae to think about the information at a greater depth

in order to make connections and see the patterns and organi$ation of new material. %hen they work in cooperatiegroups& they also increase the amount of thinking they are doing. They !construct" the meaning for themseles and will

remember it longer.
