The Vi is the ratio between the interlobe volume at the beginning of the compression and the

volume at the end of the compression.

Controlling the Vi to match the pressure ratio across the machine helps maintain best

compressor operating efficiency.

The optimized value of the Vi depends on: gas composition and pressure ratio

Vi = V1/V2 = (P2/P1)1/k = b1/k
