FROM THE CHAIRMAN

It’s a matter of great pleasure for me to introduce the SATYA annualreport of the year 2006-2007and 2007-2008. The year has been ofimmense growth for our organization and contributed significantly to thesociety with our commitment to its social responsibility, professionalworking and devotion to the noble cause.

Carrying forward to the activities of the last year, during this year,SATYA has made commendable efforts in promotion of rurallivelihoods, Health & Hygiene, HIV-AIDS awareness, child welfareactivities, Solid waste management, PG Degree Course in Master of socialWork programme and NGOs Project Consultancy in Rajasthan. Theefforts made by SATYA through trainings, research and survey, activityreports, and consultative dialogues have opened up greater opportunitiesand have contributed to development of larger vision for Child welfare,livelihood generation and community participation in the state.

Our on-going association with the Government of Rajasthan,Government of India and the relationship that SATYA has withDepartment of Social Justice & Empowerment, GOR, National Instituteof Social Defense, New Delhi, GOI; Central Adoption Resource Agency,New Delhi, GOI; Rajasthan High Court Juvenile Welfare Committee,GOR, RUIDP, Center for Micro-finance, IIHMR, Rajasthan States AIDScontrol Society, Entrepreneurship Management and DevelopmentInstitute, Jaipur Municipal Corporation, Rajasthan Mission on Livelihoodand many other have all been crucial for our initiatives. Registration Act, 1958. SATYA has a strong team network ofexperienced professionals, specialists, intelligentsia, and researchers.SATYA is presently working in the state of Rajasthan. Our programmesare primarily based in the districts of Alwar, Jaipur, Kota, Dausa,Bhilwara,Ajmer, Bharatpur,Ganganagar,Sawaimadhopur, and Tonkincluding the rural belts of Chomu and Chaksu.

The organization believes in providing a concrete platform to worktowards an integrated development model. It explores grassroots levelrealities, through intensive teamwork approach, need assessment studies,baseline surveys, and research. The in-depth insight thus gained helps usto verify and recognize the problems, and function as motivator andfacilitator in creating an enabling environment. The organization tries todiagnose the root cause of the problems amidst different sections of thesociety for effective planning and future course of action.

The VisionThe Satya accepts democratic ideals in practice, while working withpeople. It recognizes equality, social justice, freedom, continuousdevelopment, self-enrichment, and participation as its core values.

Juvenile Delinquency

A one day State Level Seminar on JuvenileDelinquency was organized with an objectiveto facilitate the effective implementation ofJuvenile Justice (Care and Protection ofChildren) Act, 2000 and special care andsensitive attention required in dealing withjuvenile delinquents i.e. ‘Children in Conflictwith Law’ as mentioned in the Act andCapacity-Building through knowledgedissemination on theoretical and behavioralaspects, generating awareness on the issueon state level.

The State Minister for Social welfare Mr. Madan Dilawar ensuredparticipants that he will look into the matter seriously and therewill be no such problem in future.The Director of Social Welfare Sh. S. C. Derashree ensured thatJJBs in all the districts will be formed within the month coming tofacilitate the process and proper implementation.

Satya is further planning to establish Child Guidance Center, Childline,establishing ACA in the state of Rajasthan for streamlining the adoptionprocesses and related things, organizing more seminars on the issue, andfurther facilitating the implementation of JJ act.

HEALTH & HYGIENEHealthcare facility is one of essential and fundamental requirement tohuman being where lots of efforts are required. Satya has its socialcollaboration with Liberty Hospital, Mansarovar, Jaipur which have itsown team of expert doctors and other allied staff.

HIV-AIDS Counseling CenterSatya in collaboration with ‘Rajasthanstate Aids control society’ has establishedHIV-AIDS Counseling Center in thecampus of Liberty Hospital where weorganize activities on HIV-AIDSawareness through camps, etc. and alsoorganized camps in Teetaria village andKapurawala panchayat.

Satya-Liberty Health cardSatya has inaugurated a health card schemefor the poor people in the area where theperson is provided a health card for aperiod of one year and after that the personcoming to the hospital is provided expertdoctor counseling and medicines at thenominal cost of Rs 10. Satya has distributedaround 3258 cards in the area andapproximately 2300 people came for theconsultation and treatment.

Satya-liberty health campsMega Health CampsWe have conducted free health checkupcamps in campus of Liberty hospital,Mansarovar to provide expert counselingand advanced testing facilities to the poorpeople and provided medicines free of costso that they also have access to the essentialhealthcare facilities. In the camp, more than2000 patients were benefited.

Blood Donation CampSatya with liberty hospital organized Blooddonation camp in the hospital campuswhere people were encouraged to donateblood to save the life of others and alsogiven information about myths and factsabout blood donation. In all, 25 units ofblood was collected in the camp.

Jaipur Military Station conservancy services & Door to doorGarbage collection

SATYA is processing to implement aspecialized health and hygiene program forthe residents of military area, in the vicinityof Jaipur. It is being initiated with the solidwaste management through door-to-doorsegregated waste collection in the area forfurther eco-friendly procedures, recycling,and by-production. This is likely to beclubbed together with more welfare anddevelopmental activities.

TrainingSatya organized training and briefing forthe administrative staff of Army on “SolidWaste Management Rules 2000 and ItsImplementation” to make them understandand oriented towards the serious andpractical implementation and theimportance of the rules. During thetraining, Area Commander R. S.Bhandari, Sub-area commander Mr.Lalotra, SSO conservancy services, etc.were also present.

For implementation of any act or rules, it isessential that the implementing agency orauthority as well as beneficiary have itsknowledge and know-how in behavioralmanner.

Awareness and Satya Efforts: an efforttoward health & Hygiene

Ward 20/door to doorThe task of solid waste and garbage collection isbeing executed, at the behest of the municipalcorporation (JMC), in civil areas as ward #20 ofJaipur.

The Satya experience is open to be replicated inadvanced urban and rural infrastructuredevelopment, alongwith the government, andalso as mandated by the Hon’ble SupremeCourt.

Survey and Research

We provide services and expertise of our consultants for various researchprojects and survey-data collection for various departments and we havemade a remarkable progress in field of survey and research.

Satya has conducted in-house study on the ‘Vacuum between Police and Public’for the Department of Police in the Jaipur City.Satya has also conducted ‘SHG Impact Assessment Study’ for ‘Center forMicro-Finance’, IIHMR, Jaipur.Satya has conducted the field survey and report on Solid WasteManagement-Waste Generation alongwith N K Buildcon Pvt. Ltd. For JaipurMunicipal Corporation.

LIVELIHOOD GENERATIONEMI-RMoL training TeetariaSatya organized Entrepreneurship developmenttraining programme in the panchayat for poor,literate-illiterate unemployed youth under the aegisof Rajasthan mission on livelihood (RMol) with thesupport of Entrepreneurship Development andManagement Institute (EMI), Jaipur. A 45-daytechnical practical hands-on training on “Repair andMaintenance of Domestic Electrical Appliances”was organized and behavioral, business andenterprise management inputs were also given.

Apart from this activity, “Satya Institute of socialwork Management & Research” has developedstudy material- inputs on behavioral, business andenterprise management especially designed andprepared for such students / Trainees.

Self-Employment Training:Making people stand

In-house Vocational Training ProgramSatya organized a camp vocational training programin the village to the unemployed youth on‘household wiring’ for 30 days in Teetaria Panchayatvillage under its ‘Ek Gram Ek Sanstha’ program.

Skill development training: womenempowerment

A-45 day short term skill development trainingwas organized also in Kapurawala panchayatvillage on “Cutting & Tailoring” to the poor andunemployed women living in the village with anobjective of livelihood generation and womenempowerment under the aegis of Rajasthanmission on livelihood (RMoL) with the supportof Entrepreneurship Development andManagement Institute (EMI), Jaipur.

A one day all-India seminar on‘FURTHERING JUSTICE DELIVERYSTANDARDS FOR CHILDREN’ wasorganized with an objective to create aplatform of all functionaries concerned withimplementation of Juvenile Justice in Indiaand generating widespread and sensitiveawareness on national level on 12 January,2008 at HCM-RIPA, Jaipur as helping handwith Legal Assistance Forum, SupremeCourt and UNICEF.

This was more concerned with the ‘Childrenin Conflict with Law’ and focused uponsensitive and especially careful treatmentwhile dealing with juvenile delinquents.Participants were from state departments,lawyers from all over India, doctors, andNGOs, etc.

OUR STRENGTHS

Satya, An NGO have its own strengths that gives it confident andenables in itself to carry out the social welfare activity successfully-

SATYA has proved itself one of the fastest growing NGO withcommitment to its social responsibility, professional workingand devotion to the noble cause. Satya formally emerged in 2004but since then its growth has been noteworthy.

Our turnover in first year was approximately 2.71 lacks, second year2.25 lacks but in 2005-2006 it grown to approximately 28.8 lacks andin 2006-2007 it is projected to be approximately 72.66 lacks. Theprogrammes which mainly contribute to financial growth they are,child welfarestic activities, HIV AIDS, Women Empowermentthrough Healthcare and Livelihood Generation under EkGram Ek Sanstha Program, and solid waste managementprogramme. This signifies its continuous and successful workgrowth. Satya has proper and regular system of auditing andaccounting.

SATYA has been working as an NGO for NGOs forstrengthening and empowering CBOs and small NGOs throughconsultancy and capacity building, trainings, and organizingworkshops so as to enable them to work for Social welfare in morerefined and systematic way.
