SEASONING

Careful attention is required to guard against drying the wood too rapidly, particularly in wood with thicker dimension. If not dried properly, the non-uniform stresses involved can cause cupping or twisting upon subsequent resawing or working. Once wood has been dried, it is allowed to “rest” in a climate controlled environment for several days to several months.

GLUEThe use of different glue results in different playing charac-teristics. Different woods need different glue for best perfor-mance. At STIGA we use the best glue and gluing techniques for the best results for each type and combination of wood.

The search for the right blade can be a huge challenge, even for the most experienced players. The best blade for one player is not necessarily the best choice for another, as we each have our own personal touch and style, and we tend to react to blades in different ways.

At STIGA we make this important choice easier by ensuring that every blade is of superior quality, and we make blades with the variety of special playing characteristics demanded by experienced players and coaches.

WOOD

Our design process begins by considering the playing charac-teristics of each of the woods we use. Remember that we’re talking in general terms here, since each tree, and even each set of wood, is different. Fortunately, here at STIGA we benefit from having played with hundreds of versions of particular models, so we have learned from vast testing and experience how to design the blades “personalities” to perfectly suit the next generation of World Champions.

GRIP

THE WRB SYSTEM accelerates the blade face for faster returns, more power and extra sensitivity of touch.

THE CR SYSTEM is when front part of the blade is UV-finished, which yields a reasonably increased speed to the ball.

THE CRYSTAL TECHNOLOGY increase your speed. Normal blade treatments use regular lacquer, but Crystal Technology employs a transparent hydrophilic gel lacquer that STIGA specially developed.

VPS (The Veneer Precision System) treats the veneers with a unique and exact heating and cooling process. This results in a very solid balance and fantastic feel.

DIAMOND TOUCH TECHNOLOGY gives the outer veneers extra hardness and the surface an incredibly smooth finish.

In 2019, STIGA will celebrate 75 years as a company, and as we look back on our past, especially four years stands out in the history of STIGA. 1944 which was the year STIGA was founded in Sweden, and the other three being 1967, 1976 and 1981. Those were the years when we introduced upon the world the now world-renowned blades Allround Classic, Offensive Classic and Clipper Wood. No other STIGA blades in history have made a bigger impact on the market or sold more copies then these three blades. Since STIGA was founded in 1944, our own blade production has been the heart and soul of all the Table Tennis equipment we sell. Our philosophy has always been to find the perfect balance between quality, design and playing characteristics. All throughout our history, we have always valued and res-pected the environment and rightfully considered wood a living and organic part of nature. This is shown among other things by the fact that we only and always use Eco-Friendly Adhesives and always demands from our wood suppliers that they work closely with the Forest Stewardship Council in order to secure and promote responsible mana-gement of the world’s forests. Before we in 2014 revolutionized the Table Tennis carbon blade market by releasing the Carbonado series which uses the top of the line, Swedish made and patented Spread Tow Carbon technology known as TeXtreme Carbon Technology, STIGA was only seen as experts when it comes to all wood blades. For the Nostalgic series, we have chosen to build each blade using the same brilliant yet simple and timeless middle veneers and thicknesses used in the three STIGA classics. This creates a core feeling and balance quick to recognize and easy to handle. What’s truly unique with these blades are the all-natural Wenge wood used as outer veneer and on the handles. This is the first time in our history, we work with Wenge material as outer veneer, but thanks to the combination of innovative machinery, human proficiency and years of development and testing, we feel comfortable including this material into the long list of high quality woods used in STIGA blades. Thanks to the hard, yet elastic dimensionally stability of Wenge wood, the bla-des gets the boost in speed which its predecessors lacked. This creates three, for their each respectively category fast blades with recognizable feeling and balance. The handles also consist of solid Wenge wood, creating a firm and stabile feeling in your hand while hitting the ball. For the lens we have decided for the first time in four deca-des to move away from the classic STIGA shaped lens. Instead, we present what we call the Nostalgic squircle. A mathematical shaped lens intermediated between a square and a circle, used for the first time in Table Tennis. The Nostalgic series is handmade quality from Sweden and innovative thinking with classic design, just the way we want to cherish our legacy of building world champions since 1944.

The Azalea blades are influenced by the culture and history of Japanese Table Tennis. Developed in close collaboration with Japanese female players in search for the perfectly balanced Allround and Offensive blade, the focus is on light weight and outstanding feeling and control. QUALITY AND SAFETY

With the following items we want to explain our highest demands on quality and safety to you according to which we manufacture our table tennis tables. Each table tennis table that leaves our warehouse is certified by TÜV as per EN 14468-1 and has the „GS” mark for Tested Safety.

HIGHEST STABILITY

All our table models have been tested comprehensively for safe stability. Also, in case of unintended high load of the sports equipment, the products withstand at least a weight loading of 80 kg on the outer corners of the table surface and so they absolutely meet the requirements of the standard.

OPTIMUM MANEUVERABILITY

Because of their stable design and the wheel diameters larger than average our models guarantee optimum maneuverability also on uneven ground. The standard requires a minimum wheel diameter of 75 mm; however, our tables are generally equipped with a wheel diameter of at least 125 mm.

SAFE LOCKING SYSTEMS

Our table tennis tables are equipped with TÜV- and GS-certified locking devices (e.g. SMS) only that feature easy handling and protect the table tennis table in its play-ing as well as parking position against unintended folding in and out also when large forces are acting. This prevents accidents in the best possible way. Nonetheless, children should not release the locking device or only release it with the assistance of adults because just the lowering of the table half from the parking position can quickly cause injuries due to its weight.

ACCESS PROTECTION

For a board distance of more than 110 mm in parking position, the European standard requires protective means that prevent access to this free space to avoid accidents. All our models that are parked with this distance of boards are equipped with access protection.

MATERIAL THICKNESS AND CONNECTIONS

Highest stability and load ability can only be achieved by the application of stable materials. Therefore, we place importance on the use of pipe diameters and material thicknesses larger than average. Where possible, we use fixed welded components and avoid plastic connections. This makes our table tennis tables highly stable and dura-ble which has already proved to be successful - also under highest loads - in daily use.

ENDURANCE TEST

Our tournament and show court tables are used world-wide in high-class competitions and league activities and consistently meet the professionals’ requirements. We comprehensively exploit these experiences also for the manufacture of leisure table tennis tables. That means the indoor surfaces run through the same high-quality coating plants while using equivalent priming, painting and lacquer coating processes. Before each real start of production, each new table tennis model is completely load tested in compliance with the European standard.

CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT

Our manufacturer get our products and our production processes supervised by independent testing institutes and set great value upon the application of environmen-tally-friendly methods and materials. We can always prove compliance with regulations referring to the application of chemicals and that we meet the corresponding limit values.

REQUIREMENTS ON TABLE SURFACE

Our table surfaces are continuously checked for meeting the standard requirements. The most important charac-teristics of the surfaces include flatness, ball jump, kinetic coefficient of friction, and, in the outdoor area, weather-re-sistivity. Our outdoor surfaces are weather-resistant as per

European standard.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

All TT tables must have durably visible and clear safety instructions. Our models are equipped with multi-color instructions for the safe use of the table on the under-side of the table. In addition, these labels are treated to be weather-resistant and resistant to UV-radiation.

QUALITY CLASSES

Depending on the requirements on the TT tables they are classified in different classes as per standard. All our mod-els are divided in four classes, A to D, from high-perfor-mance sport to leisure use, and meet the criteria required. COMPACT STORAGE SYSTEMTable tennis has always occupied many people within a limited space. Training and competitions often require many tables to be available at the same time. CSS tables make it easier to store large numbers in a small space.

The table halves are stored folded into each other, thus reducing drastically the space required.

The height of the table is only 155 cm. Each table leaf has it’s own wheeled base, which

means the table is easier to handle.

We’re extremely happy and proud to announce that we will be naming the new arena STIGA Sports Arena in Eskilstuna. Sports and active recreation is something that we at STIGA Sports are very passionate about and the naming of the new fantastic arena is an excellent way for us to contribute to an active sports life and active recreation in Eskilstuna. We’re excited about this long term cooperation where we can strengthen both Eskilstunas and STIGA Sports trademark nationally and internationally.

The arena is designed for sports events, concerts, larger conventions and fairs. The main arena holds 3700 seats and is diversifiable for different areas of use. The arena will have a high environmental profile both in design and during events. It will be classified as gold by the Swedish Green Building Council, thanks to it’s low energy consumption and the choice of construction material used, which has less impact on the environment.

Eslöv AI’s international table tennis academy in Eslöv aims to train young talents from all over the world to professional table tennis players. The training is based on a holistic approach – needs are central.

GUIDANCE: Trainers, coaches and advisors use the same basic guiding principles to help the players:

Communication – between coaches, players, advisors and parents.Planning – careful planning both long and short term.Clarity – the objectives, means and methods.Follow-up – each term, regular monitoring and evaluation of players’ development and attainment.Adjustment – if any changes need to be made they will be do so accordingly.

OPTIONS: Each player is offered a training schedule that suits them. Players can study at the high school in various ways. It is possible to come and train for long periods in Eslöv, with sessions tailored to the player’s needs, and it is possible to organize short training camps with the same opportunities.

All training camps include personal training, coaching and advice. This is something that players can get access to outside the academy.

ELASTICITY: The control of the ball is affected when the ball gets in contact with the bat. The elastic properties of a blade make you feel this contact. It depends on the players what type of elasticity he or she likes best. Take these categories into consideration and you will surely find the right blade for you.

ELASTIC: Offering low speed with maximum control. Mostly used by the cautious defender.

FEELING ELASTIC: The enhanced touch and feel characteristics are a distinct advantage for players who like to be in command of control and accuracy for the allround spin game.

POWER ELASTIC: Power elastic blades benefit the spin player a wide variety of attacking styles.

NEARLY STIFF: For consistent powerful forehand and backhand top spinning loop play. Nearly stiff blades are ideal for players who want to set the momentum and dictate the play.

STIFF: The ultimate selection for the direct power-hitting player who primarily concentrates on pure speed than control.

RUBBERS

SPONGE HARDNESS:

SOFT: Soft sponges provide a better ball control. The spin remains the same while the speed is slightly reduced. Common among players that what to have a great sound during their game.

MEDIUM: Medium sponge is superb for active and powerful players. A well balanced relation between control, speed and spin.

HARD: These sponges provide more speed but less control of the ball when striking the ball.

SURFACE: The topsheet of the rubber.

STICKY: This rubber sheet offers much control and is very sticky, which provides plenty of spin when striking the ball.

CONTROL ELASTIC: They develop spin elasticity even at the low speed, and give you more control and more fun. Suitable for control-minded players that want to have the extra touch in their game.

STICKY ELASTIC: Slightly sticky rubbers with very good spin dynamics and ball control while playing at a high speed, both away and near the table.

OFF ELASTIC: Intelligent mixed between speed and spin dynamic. Off elastic rubbers is for speed players that use a lot of top spin in their game.

SPIN ELASTIC: Spin elastic rubbers are for the modern top table tennis. They are as fast as the off elastic rubbers, but have an additional spin component. Very sophisticated technology.
