SECTION C

Question 1

Jaya and her friends went cycling last Sunday. They used a new cycling path.

While cycling, they came across a path of river. They noticed a strong stench

coming from the river. They stopped to take a closer look. There were a lot of rubbish

in it.

Jaya and her friends were upset that the river was so dirty and smelly. The

next day, they told their classmate and the teacher about their discovery. They had

a discussion and decided to organise a river clean up. After they got approval from

the headmaster, they begin to spread posters.

On the day of the clean-up, all of Jaya’s schoolmate took part. They put on

their mask and gloves before they started to work. Then they use nets attached to

long poles to fish out the rubbish and remove the algae from the river. Soon, the river

was clean.

Question 2

Mr Jasmine and his family went on a boat ride to marine park. The boatman

stopped the boat in the open sea so that Mr Jasmine and his family could go

snorkelling. They put on their flippers and snorkels. Then, Mr Jasmine and his wife

jumped into the water first. Their children jumped into the water after them. Together

they snorkelled close to the boat.

The water was crystal clear and shallow. They could see the underwater

marine life below. They saw coral reefs. There were colourful fish of different sizes.

There were also starfish on the white sand. Mr Jasmine got a fright when they school

of tiny fish swam around him.

After an hour they climbed back onto the boat.
