York Haven's Good Citizens for the 2nd Marking Period
Mrs. Donnelly's 2nd grade class came up with 100 things they learned this year to celebrate the 100th day of
school!
A parent email we received this week recognizing some of our teachers: Good Morning! I wanted to share with you an excerpt of an essay my son wrote for college. I just wanted you to know what an inspiration these teachers were to him, as well as I am sure they are to many students. ….I aspired to become a teacher. School was more than just the half-hour of recess to me; it was the place I learned
more and more each day about the world in which I live - all because of the teachers. To this day I still hold the senti-
ment that teachers deserve more credit than student grant for - quite literally - they educate each and every child in the
next generation, no matter that child’s interest in school or quality of home life or previous education. What really made
this aspiration come alive, however, was that I have been taught by numerous teachers who would not trade their jobs
for the world and put their hearts into what they do. While nobody but Northeastern students will understand their
names, Mr. Raymond, Mrs. Coombes, Mr. Garrigan, Ms. Brown, Ms. Dellinger, and Ms. Witmer - to name a few - have
made school more than just a place to take notes for eight hours and forget it all the next week. They start and end each
day with a smile, they genuinely care about each and every student, they encourage individual ideas, they foster the
growth of students not only academically but also personally, and they absolutely love what they do….
Students at York Haven made cards and wrote thoughtful messages to the Newberry Township Police Department
after the loss of Tazer, the department’s police dog. Tazer will be missed and we are thankful for his service.
First graders at Conewago who
reach their reading at home goal
for each month earn a FREE Piz-
za Hut pizza coupon.
Thanks to Terri Rappold, the Middle School staff recently celebrated “National Have Fun at Work Day.” After hearing about
the day of fun, Terri devised a plan that brought every MS team to the main office to play rock/paper/scissors. Each team
would end up with one winner who would then represent their team at the end of the day. After student dismissal these 10
representatives competed against each other to crown one Grand Champion. While Lisa Marx may be known as a soft spoken,
kind hearted soul, we here at NMS know better. She is a warrior and her toughness and tenacity know no boundaries. Con-
gratulations to our beloved warrior, Mrs. Lisa Marx. Your rock/paper/scissors game is mad hot, yo!!!
Mr. D’Orazio decided to lend a helping hand during
our early dismissal to make sure all sixth graders had
a nutritious lunch before heading home!

Last Friday, the Mount Wolf third graders received a visit from a special guest. After reading a selection about the important
work of K9 officers, York County's very own K9 officer, Hawk, spent the afternoon with Cpl. Strine detailing their daily adven-
tures. Students were able to ask questions, see Hawk work from his K9 police cruiser, and even give him a friendly pet on the
head. A special thanks to Cpl. Strine and Hawk for helping to keep our communities safe!

SFI and SBI students and families joined together last Friday for a Rock N Bowl event at Laser Alleys. Everyone
had fun bowling and playing lase tag. We look forward to our next one in April!
2nd and 3rd grade students at Conewago enjoyed a visit from a K-9 police officer and his dog.
This visit was a fun way to help the students make a connection to the stories about service
dogs that they were reading in ELA.
