PENALTY—NON EXHIBITION OF PIOB In order to prevent the non exhibition of animals which have been entered for the Show, thus causing un- necessary preparation, expense, and disarrangement of the Show yard, any person making any entry will be subject to a fine of 10s. for earh and every entry of pigs not exhibited, unless a certificate under the hand of the exhibitor or his authorised ngent be lodged with the Secretary of the Society before the dny of exhibition, to the effect that such non- exhibition in caused either by (1) the death of the animal or animals; or (2) contagious or infectious disease (confirmed by an explanatory certificate of a veterinary surgeon); or (3) by its becoming ineligible for the class in which it has been entered, or other reasonable cause The non payment of such fines to debar all persons owing them from ex- hibiting at future exhibitions of the 8ociety. Prizes.— In addition to the cash prizes specified in each class, ribbons will be presented. Age of all pigs to be calculated from the birth date shown in the litter registration m the herd book up to lat April Full particulars must be stated on the entry form of age. pedigree, herd book number if fixed In the eats where no number is fixed, proof of acceptance for herd book must be produced, except where otherwise specified. The exhibitor must advise the Secretary as early as possible to enable the transfer to be effected before the time of judging. AH pigs exhibited in group classes must be paraded and judged as a group, snd not on their swsrda in indivi- dual classes First and second prize sows in litter classes may compete individually for championship prizes. Any animal in the Pig Classes found to be artificially coloured will be disqualified. Exhibitors will not be sllowed mors thsn three entries in sny one clsss. Exhibitors from other Ststes should obtain from the Stock Branches of their own State and N S W , s “ per- mit to travel” before arranging to despatch the pigs to Sydney. All pigs shall be fed and attended to by the exhibitor who shall be responsible for the cleanliness and proper condition of the sties while the pigs remain on the Showground, both before and after the pig sales, and shall be subject to the control of the Superintendent of the section appointed by the Society. In the event of any pig being unfed, or any »ty being in improper condition at any time while the pig re- mains on the Showground, both before and after the pig sales, the officials of the Society shall feed and attend to the pig. and the cost of such feed and attendance shall be borne by the exhibitor of the pig Any exhibitor who may neglect to feed and properly attend to all pigs exhibited by him during the period through which they remain in the sties, either before or after the pig sales, shall be liable to disqualification after enquiry by the Council. No pig shall be removed from its numbered pen without the sanction of the Superintendent. Each exhibitor or his representstive will be sllowed to get in the pen end show his pig to the Judge, snd must remsin in the pen until the Judge hss finished with that exhibit. The Superintendent will take delivery on Showground of all exhibits, snd st close of Show will deliver ssme snd issue psss-out checks snd return railway certificates All exhibits must be penned before © sm . snd judging to stsrt st 0 30 am . on Monday, 18th March, except for Class 02, for which see. SPECIAL REGULATIONS

1 AH classes are open for competition to wine growers and wine merchants

2. A wine merchant shall mean any person, association, or company buying wine.

3. A wine grower shall mean any wine grower owning or occupying a vineyard, and manufacturing wine from grapes grown in such vineyard, or from grapes purchased for the purpose of wine making

4. Exhibitors mav either be members or non-memb*»rK of the Society Kntry fee: Members, 5s.; non members,10s

5 No exhibitor shall be allowed more than three entries in any one class. Each wine sample to consist of four quart (reputed) bottles Three quart (reputed) bottles are to be supplied for Brandy and Vermouth Exhibitors enter­ing the same wine in more than one class must supply the full number of sample bottles for each entry.

6 All wines will be judged on points.

7. No exhibitor can take more than one prize in any one class Where an exhibitor has more than one entry in a class, oniy the exhibit securing the highest number of points shall be considered for the priie. The succeeding prises will be awarded in a similar manner among the remaining exhibitors in that class.

8. The judge may award prises on the basis of First. Second, Third, Very Highly Commended, H ighly Com­mended, and Commended, but prise money will only be allocated for fir^t and second awards.

9 Entries must be made on forms supplied by the Society for that purpose. Exhibitors must state on the entry form the class to be competed for, the distinguishing mark on the exhibits, character and vintage of the wine, and the quantity in stock

10. No person will he allowed to inspect an entry form, after reception by the Secretary, until the Judges' awards have been made public.

11. After the close of entries, no person will be permitted acress to the exhibits, except the Judges, Secretary, and Staff, until the awards have been made

12. Exhibits are to hear the labels supplied by the Society for that purpose, and must show:—(n) The year of the Competition (1940).(b) The number of the class(c) Where more than one entry, the distinguishing mark of the entry to conform to the entry form(d) The year of vintage.

(N .B — Bottles must not be labelled with business labels. Branded bottles and corks are permissible.)

13. Brandy entries when drawn from Bond to be sealed by Customs officer.

14 Sparkling Wines not to be of older vintage than 10 years from date of exhibition, and to represent wines which can be purchased on the market.

15. Exhibits to be delivered to the Secretary of the Society at the Sydney Showground in cases properly marked to show Exhibitor's name, not Inter than Saturday, 30th September, 1939.

16. In all classes the wine in stock as stated on the entry form may be inspected and checked by a representa­tive of the Society or its nominee Each exhibitor must supply the Sotietv with a sealed envelope run t :i in ing the record of any sale made subsequent to their entries being lodged, provided such sale has reduced the stipulated quan­tity below the minimum

17. All exhibits to become the property of the Society. In disposing of the wine it shall be sold by public auction, and the proceeds of such to be donated to charity as selected by the Society.

18. Exhibits must represent stocks as set out on entry form, and be the bona-flde property of the exhibitor at the time of entry.

19. All wine exhibits must be the sole produce of Australian grapes and free from any foreign substance. The Society reserves the right to have any exhibit inspected and/or analysed by one or more persons appointed for that purpose.

20. i l l exhibits must conform to the respective Wine or Food Acts of the 8tates of New South Wales, Vic­toria, and South Australia.

21 No protest will be entertained if not made within three days after the close of the last judging day rf the Wine Section.
