Eye camp organised at ACP

Eye check up camp was organised at Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP) Occupational Health Centre. The camp was inaugurated by Sanjay Tyagi (VP – ACP). Around 180 employees including contract workers attended the camp.

Swachhta Pakhwada at Kirari Mines

Swachhta Pakhwada an initiative by Ministry of Mines, Central Government was httpss at Kirari mines, Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP). This activity is aimed at increasing general awareness on health, hygiene and environment in and around the mine area. Locals from nearby villages also took part in the event. The initiative was inaugurated by Ritesh Kaimal (AGM – Mines) along with other members from the mines team.

BCP conducted acrophobia test

Bhiwani Cement Plant (BCP) organised Acrophobia test for all contract workmen whom are authorised to Work at Height (WAH). The Blood Pressure (BP) of all workers was taken before and after the test and analyzed whether they are fit for WAH. This will help to authorize right person for WAH, to maintain safety.

CCP organised various activities under Swachhata Pakhwada

As part of Swachhata Pakhwada organised under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines, Ajmer region, Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP) carried out plantation drive in various schools and mining area. Altogether 300 saplings were planted as part of this initiative. Additionally, the students took cleanliness oath to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation within the school premises.

Cleanliness drive in SCP colony

Under Swachhta Pakhwada, observed by Mines Ministry, Government of India organised from 16th to 31st December, 2017, Sonadih Cement Plant (SCP) took an initiative of cleaning the colony. All colony residents came together and cleaned different areas of the colony. Not only adults but children also actively took part in the cleanliness drive.

Good Practice: Extending gear shaft for easy movement of conveyor chute

RMX Haripar plant (Rajkot) was facing a problem wherein the conveyor rotating chute motor frequently breaks down due to spillage of sand and dust on it. As a result manual rotating operation of chute was carried out, which posed slip and fall hazard risk when any person go inside the compartment bin gratings for rotating the chute. These circumstances also increase the maintenance cost thereby affecting productivity and efficiency of the plant.

CCP conducted training on use of rescue stretcher

As a part of emergency preparedness, a training session was conducted for ambulance drivers, fire-fighting team and security personnel at Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP). The objective of this training was to create awareness and demonstration on the use of rescue stretcher. Rescue stretcher can be used to safely evacuate an incapacitated person from an inaccessible place, where normal stretchers cannot be used.

CCP Mines inaugurated Swachhata Pakhwada

Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP) launched Swachhata Pakhwada at Arniya Joshi and Sitaram Ji Ka Khera Limestone Mines. The programme will be celebrated in the surrounding areas of CCP mines from 16th December to 31st December 2017, and will encompass awareness campaigns on general and mines cleanliness, hazards of open defecation, and also have a tree plantation drive. Organised under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines, Ajmer region; Swachhta Pakhwada is a special initiative of the Swachh Bharat Mission, which is aimed at mainstreaming sanitization and cleanliness across all departments and programmes of the Government.

VFL training conducted for RMX Kolkata Area

A Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) session for the plant managers of the Kolkata area including HSE Manager, ASCO, Area P&M In charge and Zonal HR Manager was conducted by Shuvendu Basu, AVP HSE (RMX and Aggregates) and Sandeep Yadav, Business Manager. The session talked about the techniques of effective and engaging VFL. Participants were also briefed on the recent incidents and how these could have been averted through effective engagement at ground level. Lastly the participants were taken to field for hands on VFL training where they interacted with plant employees. Altogether 30 employees participated.

BLS training @SCP

Basic life support (BLS) training was organised at Sonadih Cement Plant (SCP) for plant rescue operators, critical care ambulance staff, hospital staff and first aiders. The training was conducted by Critical Care faculty of Ramkrishna Care Hospital, Raipur. It was very important to know the level of medical care that is required to be given to victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be treated with full medical care at a hospital. Around 55 employees participated.

Good Practice: Elimination of WAH and reduction in water consumption

Every time the Transit Mixer (TM) goes for any delivery it has to be washed before another concrete can be loaded. To wash the TM’s lot of water is consumed which result in wasting of water. Simultaneously it takes a lot of time to refill the water in TM water storage tank. Additionally to wash the mixture drum the TM driver climbs through TM access ladder and there is a potential falling hazard.

Mines Safety week celebrated at SCP

Mines Safety week celebration httpss at Sonadih Cement Plant (SCP) under the aegis of Director General of Mines Safety (DGMS). On this occasion a “suraksha rath” was flagged of by SCP Mines Head Nitesh Raghuwanshi with a message to exercise zero tolerance towards unsafe acts. This safety van went to nearby villages and school to spread message on road, home and fire safety.

Good Practice: Implementing LOTOTO on gas cylinder

Gas cylinder has many uses – welding, cutting, heating, straightening, and descaling. The equipment is versatile, easy to move and cheap. It is so widely used that sometimes people forget about the dangers one of them being used by unauthorised person which can lead to serious injury and even damage to property. To avoid any such incidents RMX Vizag plant came up with a simple solution wherein they authorized the welder and gave him the LOTOTO lock key.

Health talk on precautions during winter

Jojobera Cement Plant (JCP) organised health talk by Dr. Chawla during monthly gate meeting. Dr. Chawla talked about the types of health issues and precautions to be taken during winter season. He also shed light on natural remedies which can be prepared at home to tackle these problems. Also training was conducted on disaster control and management plan for Occupational Health Centre (OHC) staffs. The training talked about the specific role each OHC staff has to play inside the plant during any kind emergency.
