Features

Designed to be used for automatic operation of line valves and operates with line pressure (natural gas) or externally supplied gas pressure (air, nitrogen). Actuators operating at different pressures are available upon request. It can even operate full-automatic way in all weather conditions where nobody and no electric power exist. Various types are available depending on the geographical requirements, engineering requirements and operating conditions. Suitable solutions can be derived depending on the intended use, pressure changes, climate, area, mounting and maintenance conditions.

Available pressure range of the gas where the actuator used is the determining factor. Our actuators in general are provided with following options;

• Standard types operating at a pressure between 10 and 110 bar,

• Customized manufacture option for different pressure ranges.

Standard Types ; -29°C to +80°C (-20°F to +176°F)

Customized Manufacture Option ;

- 40° C to +85° C (-40° F to +185° F )

or

- 60° C to +85° C (-76° F to +185° F )

Torque Range

Torque range of actuators are 400-600.000 Nm.

GAS OVER OIL ACTUATORS (GO)

Main power transition system of quarter turn actuator which is used for ball and plug valves. The canted Scotch Yoke Mechanism performs the opening/closing process by turning the horizontal movement of the hydraulic cylinders into 95° rotational movement. Moreover, as it is canted, torque gain is supplied in the regions where critical torque levels required.

Hydraulic Cylinder

Main movement transition unit to scotch yoke mechanism, operated by hydraulic oil pressure. The gas pressure of the control unit generates horizontal power to hydraulic pistons by compressing the oil in the gas- hydraulic tanks.

Gas-Hydraulic Tank

Tubes that hydraulic oil is stored in and compressed via gas when required.

Gas Filters

Used for emergency cases and for manual operation without using pressurized gas. The pump is equipped with a 4-ways control valve for open, close, automatic and by-pass positions. There is also a locking device to prevent unauthorized operations. Whenever the gas pressure is required for operation, the lever should be positioned on “AUTO”, otherwise the lever is kept at relevant position and actuator is operated through hand pumping. By-pass position is used to balance the oil level of oil tanks after bringing the actuator in the middle situation.

Hydraulic Filter Provides cleaning of system oil and adjustment of open/close period.

Unidirectional Flow Regulator Speed is adjusted by unidirectional flow regulator for types with manual hand pump.

Torque Limit Switch The torque created by actuator is proportional with the gas pressure, and the limits prevent creation of over torque for operation of the valve. When pre-set value is exceeded, gas pressure is relieved and risk of over torque is prevented.

Gas Filters All power and instrument gases used in GO actuators are filtered & cleaned. Micron level is determined upon request. Filters should be cleaned by intervals depending on usage frequency. More precise filtering system is available upon request.

Local Control (L) Manual operation of valve locally by means of gas pressure activated with open/close buttons located on actuator. This is a standard feature for all GO actuators. When buttons or levers marked “open” or close on the actuators are pressed by the operator, line gas fills in gas over oil tubes and compressing the hydraulic cylinder moves the scotch-yoke mechanism which opens or closes the valve.

Remote Control (R) Remote operation of valve from the control panel. Two solenoids are located on the actuator; each being used for open and close the valve. Standard control voltage is 24V DC. Different working voltage is available upon request. Through electrical line between the valve and control panel, signals are sent to solenoid valves. Connection line is also used to receive information of valve position and pipeline condition. Additional control options and solutions are offered, considering the requirements of end-user.

Contains power and control elements of actuator, which are responsible for opening and closing process. Controls main gas supply to gas-hydraulic tanks.

Pressure Controlled Emergency Shut-Down (ESD) It is used when the actuator is required to shut down the line during emergency cases that are determined. ESD system is activated in case of pressure drop during break or explosion of line and closes the valve.

Alternative choices may be used for this type;

• Low Pressure Control (LP): When control is desired for low pressure opening or closing,

• High Pressure Control (HP): When control is desired for high pressure opening or closing,

• High & Low Pressure Control (LP&HP): When control is desired for low and high pressure(LP&HP) opening or closing.

Pneumatic Line Break System (LB) It is designed for gas lines. It is a process where actuator switches off the valve automatically

once the drop speed of gas pressure is over the preset level. There is no need for any electrical power to perform this process.

Differential Pressure Switch (DPS)

Differential Pressure Switch (DPS) GO actuator should not operate under high differential pressure in order to prevent the valve and the pipeline from damage. When differential pressure exceeds the factory setting, valve will not operate via local or remote control. Opening of valve under high differential pressure can cause damage on trim material and the pipeline itself. Standard set range is 1-7 bar. Other rates are available upon request.

Liquid Line Break System (LLB)

Liquid Line Break System (LLB)

It is a line break control system; designed for liquid, liquid-gas mixture systems. It is a process

where actuator switches off the valve automatically once the drop speed of gas pressure decrease is

over the preset level (for example 3,5 bar/min). There is no need for any electrical power to

perform this process.

Control Voltage Loss Detector (CVLD)

It must be added for control of automatic operation at voltage loss.

A reservoir tank must be added if at least one opening closing cycle is desired when the line

pressure is not available.

Fireproof Blanket

The risk of fire and explosion is extremely considerable to refinery, gas processing, petrochemical and offshore installations. Fireproof blankets wrap around the actuator and protect it from the harm and damage caused by fire.

Vastas professional and qualified service team is ready 24/7. Emergency response is provided within 24 hours, for exceptional circumstances and geographical obstacles remote solutions can be offered.

Assembly Assembly of actuator (GO) on the valve should be executed by an experienced & qualified team. As a side note, suitability of mounting-flanges & stem diameter should be checked and actuator is mounted on the valve by lifting through its hooks. Actuator equipped valve shall be assembled between the proper space left on the pipeline, considering up and down-stream direction. Vastas supervisor would witness the assembly and make the necessary adjustments.

Maintenance All GO actuators should be undergo a periodic maintenance annually. Vastas service team which is strongly recommended, would control of gas filters, oil levels, hydraulic hand pump etc. and to review any defected item. Calibration of LB, ESD, torque limit pressure adjustments should be also considered.

Warranty Vastas carries warranty for actuators for a period of 24 months from the date of shipment. The warranty of Vastas is effective with assembly, maintenance, start-up and operation.

Service Whenever service is required, Vastas authorized service team is always ready to collaborate.

SELECTION OF ACTUATORFollowing information is needed when selecting the actuator;

1. Torque values of the valve; Break Torque to Open (BTO), Run Torque to Open (RTO), Run Torque to Close (RTC). Selected actuator should have a torque value is %40 over than the max torque needed for the valve.

2. Flow direction and gas pressure (max, min, norm).

3. Stem diameter & dimension of connection key.

4. Actuator connecting flange standard as per ISO5211, or short code(FXX) or dimensions.

5. Valve Datasheets & Actuator Datasheets should be reviewed & answered in details. Additional requirements should be indicated.

LOCAL CONTROL-By pushing the lever on 105-C the actuator is moved through close direction.-By pushing the lever on 105-O the actuator is moved through open direction.-Movement will be stopped by releasing the lever.

MANUAL OPERATION (HAND PUMP)-When the control lever (120) is taken to open position, movement is suppliedby hand pump to the opening direction.-When it is at close position, movement is supplied by hand pump to closingdirection.-At auto position, the lever releases the automatic working.-At bypass position, this process is used for equalization of oil level in the gashydraulic tanks.

REMOTE CONTROL-If solenoid valve 105-C is energized with 24V DC, it provides movement toclose position.-If solenoid valve 105-O is energized with 24V DC, it moves the actuator toopen position.-When the energy is cut off, the actuator movement stops.

TORQUE CONTROL-If the pressure in tubes of 111 rises over the adjusted value, 122-C and122-O switches cut off the gas flow and discharges the gas from the tube.-In this way, the torque has been limited at required value.

PNEUMATIC LINE BREAK- The gas feeding the Pneumatic Line Break Pilot cycle is filtered (102), passes freely through the

flow regulator (126), and fills the reference tank (107). If there is any leakage on the pipeline, it'spressure starts to fall down. But gas pressure at the reference tanks falls down with an adjustedspeed. If the differential valve (103) measures larger different of pressure than set pressurebetween pipeline and reference tank, a signal occurs, which will block (108A) valve. It passesthrough the limit switch (112) and creates another signal and (100A) valve, and effects the (106C)valve to release. Power gas flowing of (122C) valve and filling the closing tank which starts tomove the actuator to close direction.

- When the actuator is at full close position, cam valve (112) stops pneumatic signal anddischarging the gas it stops the actuator. For opening again (108A) valve should reset for openingagain.

TORQUE CONTROL-If the pressure in tubes of 111 rises over the adjusted value, 122-C and 122-O switches cut off thegas flow and discharges the gas from the tube.-In this way, the torque has been limited at required value.

LOCAL CONTROL-Move 108A to manual position.-By pushing the lever on 105-C the actuator is moved through close direction.-By pushing the lever on 105-O the actuator is moved through open direction.Movement will be stopped by releasing the lever.

MANUAL OPERATION (HAND PUMP)-When the control lever (120) is taken to open position, movement is supplied by hand pump to theopening direction.-When it is at close position, movement is supplied by hand pump to closing direction.At auto position, the lever releases the automatic working.-At bypass position, this process is used for equalization of oil level in the gas hydraulic tanks.

REMOTE CONTROL-If solenoid valve 105-C is energized with 24V DC, it provides movement to close position.-If solenoid valve 105-O is energized with 24V DC, it moves the actuator to open position.When the energy is cut off, the actuator movement stops.

LOW PRESSURE "ESD"-If the pressure of the line which is connected to low pressure control switch pilot (151)drops below the set point, low pressure switch will produce a pneumatic signal.-This signal will set the manual resetted valve (108A). Signal produced by (108A) reachesto (100A) and (106-C) main valve by-passing pressure cam valve (112). Actuatorwill move to close position. When actuator comes to fully close position, signal will becut-off, gas in tank will be charged an operation will be stopped. In case of signal in lowpressure switch (151) becomes normal level, actuator can be moved to open positionby manually resetting (108A). When (108A) is locked, opening operation will be revented.

"PREVENTATION OF OPENING UNDER HIGH DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE ''DPS''-Pilot connections of Differential Pressure Switch (109) are connected to inlet and outputof the valve. (109) valve prevents the opening operation in case of inlet and outputpressure difference is greater than set pressure.

LIQUID LINE BREAK-The pressure decrease in pipeline causes the differential pressure in the diaphragm of

the differential valve (103). When this differential pressure is higher than the set value,the diaphragm valve (103) is triggered and a pneumatic signal is consisted. If thissignal continues, the flow regulator (123A) is charged to the time delay tank (157) atthe set speed. When pressure switch (108B) in the time delay tank (157) is over to theset value, pressure switch (108B) create a pneumatic control signal. This signal locksthe valve (108A) and prevents the actuator from opening operation. Also, it passesfrom the check valve (100B) and the cam valve (112) and Or valve (100A) therebytrigger the power valve (106A), and the actuator closed.

-Selection of orifice: 1. Orifice (101.1), 2. Orifice (101.2) ve 3. Orifice (101.3) areselected with stop valves on orifice block (126).

-If the actuator will be opened (159), firstly pressure in the between manually controlledcheck valve and manometer (124D) should be exhausted, then the reset valve (108A)must be reset.
