Introduction As we all know that the history of Egypt has been very
interesting and brilliant so the topic of my power point presentation is also about the ancient Egypt. The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing and the famous river Nile has been one of the longest rivers found on the planet Earth. Archeologists have found many
interesting artifacts, paintings and monuments through which they get to know about the ancient Egypt.
PyramidsWhy did they build the pyramids? The Ancient Egyptian
pyramids are some of the most impressive structures built by humans in ancient times. Many of the pyramids still survive today.
The pyramid of K
hufu or
Giza.
The pyramids were built as burial places and monuments to the Pharaohs. As part of their religion, the Egyptians believed that the Pharaoh needed certain things to succeed in the afterlife. Deep inside the pyramid the Pharaoh would be buried with all sorts of items and treasure that he may need to survive in the afterlife.

What is inside a pyramid? Inside the pyramids lays the Pharaoh's burial chamber
which would be filled with treasure and items for the Pharaoh to use in the afterlife. The walls were often covered with carvings and paintings. Near the Pharaoh's chamber would be other rooms where family members and servants were buried. There were often small rooms that acted as temples and larger rooms for storage. Narrow passageways led to outside. Sometimes fake burial chambers or passages would be used to try and trick grave robbers. Because there was such valuable treasure buried within the pyramid, grave robbers would try to break in and steal the treasure.
What are the locations of a pyramids of Egypt?
What does the word “Pyramid” means?
All of Egypt's pyramids, except the small Third Dynasty pyramid named Zawyet el-Amwat also known as Zawyet el-Mayitin), are sited on the west bank of the Nile, and most are grouped together in a number of pyramid fields.
The word 'pyramid' actually comes from the Greek word 'pyramis' which means 'wheat cake'. The word 'pyramis' was used to describe the ancient Egyptian buildings because they reminded the Greeks of pointy-topped wheat cakes
Mummies
The process of mummification
When pharaohs died they were mummified covered with white sort of bandages and put in sarcophaguses. Sometimes the pets or other animals were also mummified with the pharaohs such as birds, cats or dogs.
Myths about mummies
Some people believed that there had been curses on the mummies and whoever disturbed them or tried to steal the treasures of the pharaohs the mummies come to life and kill the people but some people also believe that they were just stories made up by the descendents of the rulers to keep the robbers away.
The mummification process took seventy days. Special priests had to work and wrap the body. Some prayers and rituals had to be offered before the mummy as put is the sarcophagus.
