DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL GHAZIABAD INTERNATIONAL March 2021 FESTINOBEATS - 2021 ‘Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child open himself to life.’ Festinobeats and Baby show Pan- India 2021 was the first ever online competition for the little ones organized on 6 March 2021 by DPSG International through MS Teams. The occasion was graced by the invited guests, Ms. Shelly Garg, an active social worker associated with Sanchi Club and Dr. Saroj Sirohi, a well-known Yog guru associated with ALFA meditation programs in Ghaziabad. The Principal Ms. Meera Mathur welcomed the guests and parents and emphasized the need to provide a positive and nurturing environment to the tiny tots during these difficult times. This event provided an opportunity to children upto age 5 and their parents from all parts of India to participate in fun competitions and showcase their antics and hidden talent. The little ones stole the show with their sparkling performances in Baby Show for being Healthy Baby, Photogenic Baby, Most Active & Friendly Baby, Baby with Twinkling Eyes. Children enthusiastically participated in the events like Twinning with Mom, Footloose with Dad, Loony Toony, Rhyme Rhythm, Shape O Magic, The Blue World, Happy Stretches. Dr Saroj Sirohi in her keynote address, emphasized on the importance of parenting and nurturing children in a right manner. The Junior Wing Headmistress Ms. Malavika Yadav, appreciated and congratulated the tiny tots and their parents for their efforts. The results were announced and e- certificates were given to the participants.

PLAY ZONE IN FLOWER SHOW

DPSGI, in its mission to contribute substantially to society at large and engage children in a rapturous realm of lighthearted fun, boundless joy and vivacious laughter, set up an enthralling Play Zone in the Flower Show organized by Landcraft in Golf Links from 5-7 March, 2021.

The backdrop was set brilliantly amongst a riot of colours emanating from a variety of full bloom flowers

and a sun-drenched spring breeze wafting over the senses. From Day 1 itself, tiny tots and their parents were attracted towards the variety of play equipments and activities put up by the Play Zone. A trampoline, bouncy, mini cycles, tunnels, ladders, slides, wheel cars, art and craft activities kept the

children glued to the arena. Visiting children were given an opportunity to showcase their talents by stage performances. The stage was set on fire by the scintillating dance performances, the mellifluous songs sung and peppy rhymes recited by the little ones much to the joy and satisfaction of the parents and

grandparents. Prizes were given away to the winners who made a mark for themselves, in a non-competitive environ. The dedicated and spirited involvement of the school staff made the event all the more successful wherein the message was amply clear that DPSGI b eing a ‘Fit India Certified School’ is

dedicated to the mission of physical and mental fitness even beyond the school premises.

The school Principal Ms. Meera Mathur forged a bond with the tiny tots on a daily basis by personally motivating them and getting involved with them. She emphasized that engaging children so meaningfully and jubilantly in the post Lock-Down time was indeed a very rewarding experience for the school. More than four hundred entries in three days highlighted the commendable job done by the school. The Principal complemented the staff for their sincere and cheerful participation and hoped that this mirthful journey will continue in the years to come.

PYP EXHIBITION

“Learning to love, loving to learn!” keeping this dictum and the spirit of enthusiasm, DPSG International organized its first ever Virtual PYP Exhibition on 16 March 2021 through Microsoft Teams.

The occasion was graced by invited guests, Mr. Mahesh Balakrishnan, Manager-Development & Recognition at International Baccalaureate Organization and Dr. Ritu Chauhan, Principal Manipal International School Bangalore.

The Principal Ms. Meera Mathur, congratulated and blessed all the students in her motivating address. PYP mentors and students shared their experiences of the PYP Exhibition Journey which was a yearlong project in which students applied their skills and knowledge from previous years within the Primary

Years Programme, and this year, it was successfully carried out online. Students were involved in self-initiated inquiry into social or environmental issues of interest. They were divided into small groups wherein, they researched and decided on actions to be taken. There were 8 diverse themes and each

group created its own way to display research results and chosen action for the virtual exhibition. Students demonstrated their understanding of the issues chosen and presented their components through videos, posters, animations and PowerPoint presentations. Despite the challenges of being online, the

outcome was exceptional. The thematic musical, dance and theatrical performances were applauded by everyone. The invited guests appreciated the hard work of Class V students under the guidance of their

teachers. HM Junior Wing, Ms. Malavika Yadav proposed the vote of thanks.

GRADUATION DAY “Graduation is a time to celebrate new beginnings and say goodbye to everything that has given you a reason to smile.It is warm memories of the past and big dreams for the future”.

DPSG International organized the first ever virtual Graduation Day on 10 March 2021 for the students of STARZ and Class V.

The occasion was graced by Mr. Rohit Pathak, Director HR and Member DPSG Society, Dr Sonal Mudgal Sharma, MBBS, DCP, Pathology and Ms. Alishba Anis, alumnus of batch 2019-20.

The programme began with a welcome song and performances by STARZ and Class IV students. Mudita Verma, Junior Head Girl shared her PYP experiences with everyone. Prisha Sharma and Manas Arya, students of Class V also re-lived their days at school, sharing their experiences and expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the efforts and support rendered by their facilitators, parents and friends. Handing over of school flag by the Junior Head Boy, Parth Sharma to the Vice Head Boy, Veer Pratap Singh truly signified the passing of the baton of responsibilities from the outgoing batch of Class V to Class IV.

The students of STARZ and Class V were conferred with personalized citations and e-certificate of graduation which commemorated the completion of their primary years and the commencement of new milestones to achieve in middle school.

Ms. Alishba Anis, our alumnus was delighted to share her experiences with the students and Dr Sonal Mudgal Sharma, appreciated the efforts of the school and teachers for nurturing and grooming the students. Mr. Rohit Pathak in his convocation address complimented the graduates of 2020-21 batch on their achievements. He also congratulated the teachers for their dedication and hard work in

shaping the students through education and other co-curricular activities. The Principal Ms. Meera Mathur congratulated and blessed all the students in her motivating address. HM Junior Wing, Ms. Malavika Yadav proposed the formal vote of thanks.

SATRARAMBH ASSEMBLY

“Although no one can go back and make a brand-new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand-new ending.” ~ Carl Bard.

DPSGI ushered in the new session (2021-2022) by conducting the Satrarambh Assembly on 15 March,

2020 with vibrant enthusiasm and unfettered spirit. A soulful prayer lead by the Principal Ms. Meera Mathur marked the beginning of the day on an auspicious note. A warm welcome was extended to the Guest of Honour AVM LN Sharma, Director Academics and Training, DPSG Society and a special guest,

Ms. Samiksha Garg an illustrious alumni of DPSGI presently pursuing B.Tech. This was followed by the thought for the day which guided the students to introspect deeply so that they could harness all their energies and direct it towards the fulfilment of their dreams and aspirations. Next, the vocabulary shared

for the day was the word ‘impetus’ and this was followed by the sharing of the news- International, National, Sports and DPSGI Special to keep the children abreast of all the latest happenings. A poem recited in Hindi centered on the theme of unwavering determination and will power with a commitment

never to lose, struck a chord with all the participants. An informative talk was delivered on the topic

‘International Day of Action for Rivers 2021’ to celebrate this special day, with an aim to sensitize students about threats facing our rivers and the need for better water and energy solutions. Ms Samiksha, last year’s Science topper with a score of 96.2% shared some snippets of her invalu able

journey in school as well as some strategies she used to perform consistently well. She stressed on the importance of self-study and of being regular, focussed and passionate in one’s endeavours. AVM LN Sharma addressed the audience, commended the students for the wonderful assembly conducted and shared precious guidelines with students to dream big and master ways of realising them with passion, zeal and innovative ways of thinking so that exploration becomes a way of their life. School Principal Ms Meera Mathur enthused the students to introspect and focus on the extraordinariness of life so that they are motivated to do something great and worthwhile and not be carried away by insignificant things. She emphasised on the importance of making new beginnings each day by imbuing the qualities of discipline, punctuality, hard work and unwavering determination. She complemented the students for

the meaningful assembly and wished them all the best for the new session.

I NSPIRATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND CREATING INNOVATIVE INSTITUTIONS’

Our Head Mistress Sr, Ms. Soma Singh, was the key speaker at the Microsoft ETF session. The topic of

discussion was ‘Inspirational Leadership and Creating Innovative Institutions’. Speaking on the growing role

of education in shaping the future of the youth and how it has transformed our schools and classrooms

in the present times, Ms. Singh showcased how DPSG schools have undergone a complete transformation

by revisiting, reviewing and reflecting upon the existing curriculum design, helping students achieve

their potential through a student led, inquiry based pedagogy and extensive capacity building

programme for teachers. The school believes in collaboratively envisioning and creating a culture of

innovation and learning, with shared goals so that it can prepare learners of the 21st century.

NATIONAL KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP 20-21

Sanidhya Tomar of Class IX kept up his winning streak and bagged a bronze medal at the National Karate Championship 20-21 held at Kurukshetra, Haryana.

CALLIGRAPHY COMPETITION Handwriting determines your dream, How beautiful your dream is, So is your handwriting……..

A Calligraphy Competition was held for students of Classes I-V to inculcate the habit of good handwriting.

In an era of technology, handwriting skills have become a thing of the past and the competition aimed to encourage students to write neatly & present the content in a proper manner.

This year the competition was a bit different as it was held online. The students were asked to write a paragraph of their own choice & share with their teachers. The students enthusiastically participated in the competition and the judges were overwhelmed by their work. The judgment criteria was letter formation, line usage, letter connection & beautification.

EXPRESSIONS AND EMOTIONS

To make learning more effective and gain hands on experience, students of Class IV Daisy had a wonderful

clay modeling activity on the theme ‘How We Express Ourselves’.

The tactile experience on nature of clay engrossed the students encouraging creativity. Under the guidance and direction of their facilitator, the children came up with their own ideas and stunning creations to express their emotions and feelings through various facial expressions using clay.

The little hands worked smoothly and efficiently to fulfil their heart’s desires and fantasies. Manipulation with clay provided the students an outlet convey their emotions constructively and reduce stress.

TALLY MARKS AND GRAPH ACTIVITY Students of Class III Daisy conducted a survey to know each other’s favourite fruit. They enthusiastically

participated in the discussion and also watched a video on pictograph and tally marks. They collected and presented the data in tally marks and pictograph using match sticks and dough.

In the second activity the students conducted a survey on their favourite sports. After watching a video on bar graph they presented the data in Tally marks and Bar graph using coloured sheets and dough. They also framed questions and answer on the data collected in the session.

ADVERBS KAHOOT QUIZ

To make learning more enjoyable and engaging, a reflection activity on adverbs was conducted for Class IV Daisy in which the students participated in an online quiz through the educational game-based learning platform, Kahoot. The quiz was in the form of fill ups and helped to recapitulate the concept and usage of adverbs in the sentences. It was an exciting learning experience.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME At DPSGI we believe that learning is a continuous process, and one should always keep abreast of the times by upgrading their skills.

Our faculty members have been attending various workshops to hone their skills and make learning a joyful experience for the students. Ms. Varsha Bhartiya cleared first level of lean six sigma. Lean is defined as a set of management practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness by eliminating waste. The core principle of lean is to reduce and eliminate non-value adding activities and waste. Lean is about creating more value with fewer resources.
