How Can I Register?• In person, you may register at the Lewis Energy Group Academic Center,

Room 202 at the Fort McIntosh Campus , the Academic and Advanced TechCenter, Room 126 at the South Campus or at the Enrollment and RegistrationServices Center in Memorial Hall, Room 125, Monday through Thursday from8 am to 6 pm, and Friday from 8 am to 12 pm For additional information,please call 956.721.5374.

• Payment in full is required at time of registration for all Continuing Educationcourses. Student must present proof of registration and payment on 1stclass day; there are no entrance requirements.

• Course registration is processed on a first-come, first-serve basis soregister early to ensure that you have a place in the class of your choice.There is minimum student enrollment number required in order to hold aclass and there is a maximum number of enrollments as well. All holds mustbe cleared prior to registering for a course. Continuing Education courses haveno entrance requirements; however, some courses require prerequisites whichmeans that a course or condition has to be successfully completed before youare allowed to register. Students may not be allowed to remain in a course ifthe prerequisites have not been satisfied.

Class CancellationsIf the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, the class will be can-celled. In the event of a cancellation, we make every effort to notify regis-tered students by phone or email. You may elect to transfer your payment toanother class or receive a 100% refund. Refunds are processed automatically. (See refunds in this schedule.)

Class Confirmations Students are responsible for confirming course start dates and times 24 hours inadvance of start date; please call 956.721.5374 or 956.794.4520. Only paid stu-dents will be permitted in classrooms.

Continuing Education course registration is continuous until a class begins oris full.

RefundsA 100% refund is given prior to the first day of the scheduled class, which is theclose of business on the day preceding the first day of class. No refund is availableafter the first class meeting. Refunds may take up to 30 days.

Transcript RequestRequests for an official CEU transcript can be made by completing the onlinerequest form at www.laredo.edu/ce or by calling the Enrollment andRegistration Services Center at 956.764.5995. Transcripts may serve as vali-dation of successful completion of Continuing Education courses. Please notethere is no charge for a CEU transcript at this time.

Certificate of CompletionRequests for an end of course certificate of completion will be done after a courseis completed. Certificates will be ready for pick up after one week of course com-pletion and can be picked up at the Eloy Garcia Building, Room 2. A certificate ofcompletion may serve as confirmation of completion of the Continuing Educationcourse.

LCC Continuing Education Mission The mission of the Continuing Education Department is to provide comprehensive quality educational opportunities. Participants areencouraged to acquire, maintain, and enhance occupational and professional skills to obtain professional development, workforceskills, cultural enhancement, personal growth, and social awareness.

Age MinimumContinuing Education courses are designed for adults, 18 years or older. Somecourses are designed for a younger audience; these classes are the onlyexceptions to the age restriction. Senior citizens (65 years and older) can enroll incertain Continuing Education open enrollment courses without payment oftuition, if space is available. Qualifying seniors must still pay all applicable fees.Class LocationLocation will be specified in the schedule as follows:

Adding and Dropping a CourseTo drop one course and add another, please contact the Continuing Educationoffice at 721.5374, 794.4520 or the Enrollment and Registration Services Centerat 721.5117.

CEU Continuing Education Units are recognized nationally as a measure of sub-stantive in-service education and training. Certificates of completion are issuedat the conclusion of vocationally related courses to students who success-fully complete the required coursework. Completion is based on a minimumof 90% attendance and/or a performance evaluation. Calculations of CEUs arebased on one-tenth of the total course hours.

Emergency ClosingsIn case of an emergency the President of Laredo Community College has theauthority to dismiss classes on a case by case basis without prior notice.

Family Education Rights and Privacy ActIn compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, theCollege may release information classified as "directory information" to the gen-eral public without the written consent of the student. Directory informationincludes student's: (1) name; (2) address; (3) telephone number; (4) emailaddress; (5) weight and height of members of athletic teams; (6) participation inofficially recognized activities and sports; (7) dates of attendance; (8) edu-cational institution most recently attended; and (9) other similar information,including major field of study and degrees and awards received.

A student may request that all or any part of the directory information bewithheld from the public by giving written notice to the Enrollment and RegistrationServices Center at the Fort McIntosh or South campus. If no request is filed, direc-tory information is released upon written inquiry. No telephone inquiries areacknowledged; all requests must be made in person. No transcript or academicrecord is released without written consent from the student except as specified bylaw.

Introduction to WordPOFI1024: Introduction to Microsoft Office Word 2010 consistsof processing terminology, editing functions, formatting, and spe-cial text options. Introduction to ExcelITSW1022: Beginner level of Microsoft Office Excel 2010 con-sists of learning terminology, program parameters, displaycharacteristics, formatting features, mathematical functions,and printing. Intermediate Level ExcelITSW2029: Intermediate level Microsoft Office Excel 2010consists of learning techniques for customizing the spread-sheet environment by analyzing workbook data and creatingworksheets and charts. Food Manager Protection Certification (Taught in English)RSTO1041: This course is the 16-hour certification program for owners and operators of establishments which prepare andserve food to the public. Topics include methods of proper food storage, techniques for sanitary food service preparation,employee sanitation, pest control, accident prevention, housekeeping management, sanitation regulations and standards, andfacility conditions which contribute to outbreaks of food-borne disease. Dental AssistingDNTA1053: The Dental Assisting Program (DAP) prepares students for entry level positions in one of the fastest growing healthcare occupations – Dental Assisting. Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus or SCUBA diving.Enter a new and exciting world of underwater exploration thisfall as Laredo Community College’s Continuing EducationDepartment presents one of its newest courses.

Students will learn the theory and practice of SCUBA diving in asafe and monitored environment. The course will include class-room instruction, confined water dives at the City of LaredoInner City Pool and open water dives in either New Braunfels orSan Marcos. Students who successfully complete the 32-hourcourse will be eligible to receive a world-recognized PADI(Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Open-Water Divercertification.

Where can I register?Students can register for Continuing Education classes atthe Lewis Energy Group Academic Center, Room 202 atthe Fort McIntosh Campus or at the Academic andAdvanced Technology Center, Room 126 at the SouthCampus.

How do I register? You can register in person, from Monday through Thursdayfrom 8 am to 6 pm, and Friday from 8 am to 12 pm.

What are your entrance requirements? Continuing Education courses have no entrance require-ments; however, some courses may have prerequisites.

Where and how can I pay for my classes?Classes can be paid at the Bursar’s Office in Memorial Hall121 at the Fort McIntosh campus or at the Billy Hall StudentCenter 127 at the South Campus. You can pay for your class-es with cash, check, and money order or with a credit card.Full payment is required at the time of registration.

What if my class is cancelled? We will make every effort to notify the students by phoneor email.

What if I have to report a name or phone numberchange?Any changes must be processed through the ContinuingEducation Department; it is important that all of your infor-mation be current. Please call either 956-721-5374 or 956-794-4520.

What happens if I withdraw from a class?To receive a full refund you must withdraw from a classprior to it beginning. There are no refunds after the firstclass meeting.

What do I receive upon completing the course requirements?Completion is based on 90% attendance, and upon doingso you will receive a Certificate of Completion, stating thatyou have met the course requirements. Certifications andlicenses earned may be picked up at the Lewis EnergyGroup Academic Center, room 202, 14 days after theclass has ended. You will also receive ContinuingEducation Units (CEUs) that are recorded in your collegetranscript; CEUs are calculated as one-tenth of the totalcourse hours.
