Audio traditionalists needn’t worry- the Delta electronics will touch their musical souls. I have one word to describe Delta styling: gorgeous. Classe from Quebec was founded in 1980. It has enjoyed a wonderful audiophile reputation for terrificsound and impeccable build quality. Classe has been revered in the home theater world as well, making some of the most progressive and serious products the market has to offer. We’re compelled

to carry Classe now because it has delivered cutting edge performance with a fit and finish that raisesthe bar for home electronics.

While the style of Classe’s Delta Series is indeed classy, there’s more than a pretty face to the plan. Isolating theinternal circuit boards from the vibration of the outside world yields significant performance benefits. Using an enormouslysturdy chassis design of cast aluminum Classe achieves mechanical isolation and beauty unique to our industry.

Can you distinguish the difference in pitch between two drum beats where the head of the drum is struck in slightlydifferent places? Revealing these and other subtle details is how remarkable audio systems distinguish themselves fromthe ordinary ones. Every detail matters. Small and seemingly unimportant distortions from any and all components in thesystem ultimately gang up for a sum total that will impede the performance. This is why Classe goes to such extremes.

TAS: “Classe Audio’s new Delta Series might have been just another exceptionally pretty face if it weren’t soseriously good. What will diehard audiophiles make of large, touchscreen TFT displays? Audio traditionalists needn’tworry- the Delta electronics will touch their musical souls.

I have one word to describe Delta styling: gorgeous. The first thing I encountered when I cued up NorahJones was what wasn’t there. How dark and still the soundstage seemed. The introductory fleshy bass vampwas closely followed by the piano, each surrounded by studio silence. The Delta gear never added a hint ofnoise, electronic hash or veiling to the personality of the notes. Join to that a chocolate-like midbass, anarticulate upper bass, and a treble that was almost moist with air, and I knew right away this was going to bea relaxing ride. Perhaps the principal virtues were the subtle ways it isolated delicate inner voices andresolved low-level detail. Music flowed effortlessly across the frequency band, helping to create a sensation ofunbroken acoustic space.

B&W 300 Series: Black Ash or MapleWhat HiFi: “Imaging is excellent for speakers at this price, and accuracy with everything from

complex guitar to melancholy acoustic is quite exemplary. Movies also work well with goodintegration across the three front speakers, a dense, rich featured surround soundfield and

realistic effect panning around the room. The eerie surround channel steering works well, while the jump from the seat dynamics are full of life and energy.”

303 $300pr: 13h, 8w, 9 1/2dOne 6 1/2” woven plastic woofer, 1” alum tweet: Clean in the middle & top.

Lean in the bass!LCR-3 Center $220ea: 6h, 16 1/2w 9d

Shielded left/center/right. Two 4 1/2 woven plastic woofs, 1” alum tweetASW-300 Powered Sub $350: 16h, 13w, 14 3/4d

8” Kevlar/Pulp Fiber woof, 100w amp. Flowport, front firing for excellent transients or IN CABINET placement. ASW-300 is a very sophisticated little sub!!

600 Series: Black Ash or Sorento OakThe 600 Series incorporates expensive physics to generate a more clear and refined sound than

the competition in this popular price range. Cabinet walls are one inch thick MDF to provide deep, tight sound. Thinner cabinet walls can’t generate solid bass! Cast frame drivers are Kevlar andAluminum instead of paper and plastic. The Kevlar and Aluminum materials are lighter, faster andstronger than paper or plastic. B&W starts with Dupont’s standard Kevlar but applies two treatmentsto achieve a unique molecular structure with virtually no ringing character. The sound is cleaner andmore taut- yielding deep bass with good control. Flowport venting has radiused ports with golf balltype dimples to prevent “chuffing” or booming. These speakers offer unbeatable value!600 $350pr: 11 3/8h, 6 7/8w, 8 5/8d: 5” Kev woof and 1” alum Naut tweet

600 makes a good mini front, or outstanding surround. Mounting bracket included.601 $450pr: 14 3/8h, 8w, 9d: 6 1/2” Kev woof and 1” alum naut tweet

601 has much more gusto than 600. It’s worth the extra size and price! 24” heavy grade Floorstandsrun $150pr and will work with 601 or 600.602 $600pr: 19 3/8h, 9 3/8w, 11 1/2d: 7” Kev woof and 1” alum Naut tweet

602 can fill a large room. The added warmth it offers over 601 is quite impressive. Hifi Choice: “602’sbass extension can match most floorstanders. B&W unquestionably delivers the sonic goods in bothstereo and multi-channel modes. The meaty 602s delivered weight and drama with little obviouscontribution from additional box colorations.” 20” heavy grade Floorstands run $150pr.602.5 $700pr: 33 1/2h, 8w, 11 3/8d: 6 1/2” Kev woof and 1” alum Naut tweet.

601 in a larger cabinet. If you’d rather have a lean tower than a 601 on a stand, check out 602.5. Thelarger enclosure allows the Kev woofer to produce richer and warmer character.603 $1000pr: 35 3/4h, 8w, 11 1/4d: 6 1/2” Alum woof, 6 1/2” Kev mid, 1” alum Naut tweet

603 is a legit 3 driver system with powerful bass and impressive dynamic range. Whether the use is stereo or home theater, 603sare the ideal R&L front speakers! Hifi News: “There is musical clarity and warm tonal balance. 603 has a warm balance on thewhole which gives the speakers a rather muscular feel. 603 is palpably open, neutral and works with a much wider range of music while itsenhanced detail resolution and subtly improved voicing in the bass makes it a most likeable and rewarding speaker.”604 $1400pr: 39 1/8h, 9 3/8w, 15 5/8d: Two 7” Alum woofs, 6 1/2” Kev Mid, 1” alum Naut tweet

604 is a speaker we are appreciating more with every passing year! As our customers ask for more home theater (or stereo!) muscle, you justcan’t have a tough enough pair of loudspeakers up front. 604 delivers the muscle, volume and bass control that are unique for under $1500pr.While outstanding in home theater with a sub, our stereo customers looking for great dynamics and floor moving bass often choose 604! AVRevolution: “These B&Ws have the ability to put out some serious musical energy while maintaining a razor sharp image. The 604s are capable ofimaging you would expect from a high end loudspeaker costing many thousands of dollars. The bass was deep, sounding almost as if there was a sub in the system, yet there never was. The mids were clearand resolute. The guitar, positioned to Sarah’s right on stage, was always detailed and well mixedwith the piano and her vocals. The listening experience was what you would expect from a highdollar, high end system, however we were working with under $3000 in a B&W, Rotel setup.”DS6-S3 Surrounds $700pr: 9 3/4h, 15w, 6d: 5” Kev woof, 1” alum Naut tweet, two 3”plasticized mids, black or white only. Ideal surround, monopolar or bipolar!Shielded Center Speakers: Use As 3 Across or CenterLCR-60 $350ea: 6 7/8h, 18 1/8w, 12 1/4d: Two 5 1/2” Kev woofs, 1” alum Naut tweetLCR-60 is becoming a rare breed of cat! Most companies creating moderate sized centers are going to injection molded plasticcabinets with lightweight drivers. LCR-60 is still a thick wooden design with substantial drivers. When space is tight we’ve rounded off many a very high end system with LCR-60!LCR-600 $500ea: 8h, 21 1/2w, 12 1/4d: Two 6 1/2” woofs, 1 alum Naut tweet

LCR-600 is the larger, higher horsepower center. It is a nice match for 603 or 604!Powered Subwoofers: Front Firing With Crossover Bypass Options!ASW-600 $500: 14 3/8h, 14 3/8w, 17 3/4d: 10” Kev/PF woof, 150w amp

ASW-600 is a remarkably good value! Small cabinet with substantial push! What Video: “It isquite capable of adding some substance to medium sized systems with floorstanding speakers, but the 600 is at its mostconvincing with compact stand or shelf mount speaker systems where its contribution can really be felt. Overall, the 600impressively illustrates how much tidier and more controlled subwoofers have become in the last year or so.”ASW-650 $700: 16 3/8h, 16 3/8w, 19 1/2d: 12” Kev/PF woof, 200 w amp.

ASW-650 drops barbells on the floor. As good a value as ASW-600 is, if you can accommodate the extra size and $ of the 650, DO IT! LikeASW-300 on up, B&W subs allow you to bypass the crossover in the sub. Your home theater receiver has its own sub out with crossover. Youdon’t want to be STUCK with having to use another crossover in a sub along the way. B&W gives you the option. If you run a stereo system, you’ll incorporate the crossover. If you run in a surround system, you won’t.

B&W 700 Series: Cherry, Rosenut, Black Ash, Maple, WalnutB&W’s 700 Series incorporates a new, tapered cabinet design. The rear is less wide than the

front which breaks up standing waves within the cabinet for clearer sound. Cabinets userounded “edges” to improve dispersion and avoid enclosure reflections. The tweeters are all

top mounted for great dispersion. 700 Series mids are a notch above the 600 Series, with newtechno innovations (copper coating on magnetic center pole, aluminum balancing disc for improved

linearity). The five finishes in real wood veneer, are all handcrafted in B&W’s own facility in Denmark. Theseare gorgeous speakers of a very serious audiophile pedigree.705 $1500pr: 16 5/8h, 8 3/4w, 12 5/8d

6 1/2” Kevlar woof, 1” aluminum Nautilus tweet, Floorstands $350pr, 24” in silver or black.Stereophile: “The sax and trumpet had a beautifully unforced quality over the B&Ws, while the cymbals werenicely delineated, both in space and in tone color. Instruments were reproduced with their timbres intact, andperhaps most important, with their sounds free from any feeling of strain at moderately loud levels. The newB&W is an astonishingly good speaker. It offers clean, grain-free, uncolored sound for just $1500pr.”704 $2200pr: 37 3/4h, 8 3/4w, 12 5/8d

6 1/2” Kev/Pulp Fiber woof, 6 1/2” Kev mid, 1” alum Nautilus tweet. It’s a 705 with an extra woof in a beautifultower. Stereophile: “I found the taut, boom-free bass to be sufficiently satisfying on the vast majority ofrecordings in my collection. Exuding confidence and unflappable control, the Nautilus inspired 704 is quitesimply a hands-down solid performer, which adeptly steps out of the way to give you musical pleasure withoutdistraction. A truly enjoyable listen and textbook example of trickle-down technology at its finest!”703 $3000pr: 39 3/4h, 9 1/8w, 14 1/8d

This is the prize of the line! Two 6 1/2” Kev/Pulp Fiber woofs, 6 1/2” Kev FST Surroundless Midrange, 1” alumNautilus tweet. This stunning tower competes with anything out there at a very attractive price. It’s the best valuein a true audiophile grade speaker! HiFi Choice: “Advanced drive unit technology from the biggest speakerspecialist around is the basic reason why B&W’s new 703 sets an enviable standard for 3-ways, delivering amagnificently extended dynamic range that provides superb rendition of subtle low level detail. This floorstander usesextremely classy real wood veneer covering all faces, and notably clean lines. The front and top are formed from a singlepiece, ensuring great structural stiffness and the enclosure is subtly tapered front to rear to avoid parallel surfaces. The FSTmidrange reproduces voices with great clarity and expression and a notably wide dynamic window. Overall it’s an engagingmix, capturing both the essence of music spirit and its inner detail with imaging that’s beautifully spacious and free fromboxiness. The bass is arguably even better- dry, clean, deep, even and very, very agile.”HTM-7 Center $750ea: 12 1/8h, 17 3/4w, 11 3/8d

10” Kev/Pulp Fiber woof, 500w amp. ASW-700 is about the same size as ASW-600 but delivers a muchbigger punch. When looking for the ultimate performance from a small sub, look to ASW-700. It’s beautiful enough to fit inher finely furnished room, and yet sounds good enough to belong in his top notch AV system!ASW-750 $1600: 17 1/4h, 15 5/8w, 18 7/8d, 85 lbs

12” Kev/Pulp Fiber woof, 100w amp. Baton down the hatches. ASW-750 is the sub you want to serve home theater or music withrighteous testosterone. ASW-750 even does the job in a challenging basement environment where you need to move concrete! What Hifi:“Another great B&W subwoofer! Rock solid, powerful bass delivered with speed and fine accuracy.” So, as you’reweighing all the advantages of this sub vs. that one. Stop it! Just buy the ASW-750. You’ll love it!

New! XT Series!I’ve seen enough lousy “lifestyle” products this year to make me ill. Cheesy injection molded plastic cabinets

with crummy drivers inside are the industry norm in 2005. Thankfully B&W’s new XT Series is offering a newPolished Aluminum array of speakers of robust sound and construction! Note XT-2 and XT-4 use B&W’s famoustop mounted tweeter design for open, airy sound.XT-2 $550ea: 12 1/4h, 6w, 7 7/8d

B&WLoudspeakersB&W

New! B&W Nautilus 800 Series: Cherry, Rosenut, Black AshB&W has been established as the premier reference standard speaker in a couple of the most important venues in the

world. Abbey Road is England’s foremost mastering facility. It is home to about 80% of the world’s classical music. Labelslike Deutche Gramophone, Philips, EMI and others master at Abbey Road using B&W speakers as their trusted tools.

Abbey Road does a fair amount of film work too! Skywalker Ranch at Lucasfilms in California is also using B&Wloudspeakers to master its movies, most of which are considered to be at the state of the art in terms of sonic performance.

B&W has spokesmen from all walks of the music world. Perhaps most notable are AlfredBrendel, arguably the finest pianist of the last quarter century, and Eliot Gardiner, classical music’sforemost conductor of original instrument performances.Nautilus Technology: B&W has redone its world renowned N800 Series! The N stands for Nautilus.B&W’s Nautilus technology refers to its use of an ascending tapered tube placed behind a driver. Thisprevents reverberant cabinet reflections from spitting an echoed image towards you- yielding asmoother sound than a traditional design. Of course all Nautilus tweeters are within B&W’s topmounted open air designs.Matrix Technology: The 800 Series also incorporates B&W’s long patented Matrix Technology. Whilevirtually all other speaker manufacturers just stuff a little insulation in their cabinets, Matrix provides aninterface of interlocking vertical and horizontal MDF slats. These slats form a honeycomb pattern withinthe speaker enclosure, making the enclosure stronger and less resonant. Each of these acoustical cellsis then filled with a highly absorptive foam to further minimize cabinet ringing.

The 800 Series cabinets are not rectangular. You’ll note they are rounded towards the rear to reducebackwave reflections- controlling bass frequencies. The cabinet walls are of varying thicknesses atvarying points along their path- calculated to provide maximum strength and prevent traditional booming.Rohacell Woofers: Rohacell is a new material to loudspeaker design. Coming from NASA and the aerospaceworld, Rohacell is a remarkably stiff material which lends itself very well to woofer usage. It can be made manylayers thick and still be lighter and stronger than anything else the speaker industry has seen.Diamond Tweeters: In the top of the line models B&W has brought to market an incredibly precisepiston- a Diamond Tweeter! The advantage of the Diamond over aluminum is a smoother, sweetersound with undiminished high frequency response. The Diamond diaphragm doesn’t break up untilabout 80kHz, well above the point of audibility. Aluminum tweeters, regardless of who makes them, break up at 20-28kHz- yielding a slightly spiky response in the audible range.Marlan Head: In the top three models of the line B&W has used their patented Marlan enclosure forthe FST midrange elements. Shaped in a sphere to control mid back reflections Marlan is an ideal, cement hard material which can be shaped to perform the Nautilus treatment on the midrange driver!FST Surroundless Midrange Drivers: FST Surroundless mid elements are Kevlar. By using aunique, patented surround roll technology at the periphery of the driver underneath the cabinet’senclosure, B&W asks much less excursion from the element thus yielding a lightning quick response.N800D $20,000pr: 46 1/2h, 17 3/4w, 25 1/2d

Legendary performer! $239 white, $239 black shielded, bkts $35pr.TAS: “A killer value. Paradigm’s tiny Atom does an awful lot right and very little wrong. With a smooth frequency

response, an open treble, and a natural midrange, this little guy only falls short in the bottom.”Stereophile: “I like this speaker because it gets the midrange frequencies right- to me the most important function of aloudspeaker. The Atoms not only get the midrange right, they also have reasonable bass impact and can put out fairly high splswithout distortion. Compared to the Energy, the Atoms have far more depth, three-dimensional space and more cohesivesoundstage. Of the three speakers I reviewed here (NHT/Energy/Paradigm) my favorite is the Paradigm Atom.”Titan $229pr: 13h, 7 3/4w, 10 3/4d: 6 1/2” poly woof, 3/4” ceramic tweet

Bigger bass & image!$259pr white, $259pr black shielded, bkts $35pr.Fi: “One word that kept coming to mind while listening to the Titan was ‘impressionistic.’ By that I mean the Titan’soverall balance is slightly on the soft side and seems to be forgiving of bright or thin sounding electronics- a wisedecision on Paradigm’s part.”Australian Hifi: “These little boxes deliver a remarkably big sound- big because of its full body and well extendedsoundstage that belies the actual size of the drivers that project it. The tweeter here imparts a delightfully rich butuncluttered treble. It never reaches towards harshness, regardless of the musical program, and displays a kind of softsweetness that needs to give most music a warmth and hint of intimacy that would very much suit the bulk of roomsthat will necessitate the use of such small speakers. The bass is the big surprise of the Titans. Strong, tight, punchyand very convincing. The overall sound is quite well balanced. Ensemble work is handled very well by the Titans, witheach instrument clearly defined and properly positioned. The Titans may be small and inexpensive, but their soundcould never be described in the same way.”Focus $319pr: 14h, 7 3/4w, 10 1/4”d: 6 1/2” poly woof, 1“ ceramic tweet

Uno created the illusion of liveliness better than any other speakerI’ve had in my listening room. In fact, I can think of few speakers I’ve

heard anywhere at any price that sounded as convincingly live as the Uno.”Duo $21,320pr: (66h, 26 1/4w, 26 1/2d)

The Duo is a distinct notch up from the Uno. The size and space of the image isfrighteningly lifelike. The delicacy is simply astounding!Trio $52,150pr: With two Sub 230s

TAS: “The Trios are as detailed, tonally true, fast, and transparent as the bestelectrostatics and possess exquisitely responsive and wide ranging dynamics.

LS 3/5se Mini Monitor $1350pr: (12h,6 1/2w,7 1/2d:Light cherry or black. $1450 pr Rosenut)The Spendor LS 3/5se is the long awaited upgrade of the classic LS3/5a. The 3/5se has many

outstanding improvements. First of all, the woof is a long throw 5” driver that delivers deeper, morearticulate bass. The tweeter is a silk design that maintains Spendor’s long reputation ofsmoothness and warmth. The crossover is much simpler and the speaker is consequently easier

to drive. The 3/5se has a much larger image and is more transparent. On quick comparison the 3/5asounds downright foggy in comparison!

Alex Yeung has designed these conspicuously over achieving tube products. Transformersare custom designed and built. Construction is all metal chassis, point to point wiring. All

the models easily allow “tube rolling” so you can experiment with various tubes of yourchoice. Warm and mellow sounds abound!

MiniMax Tube CD Player $1100: (4h, 12 1/2w, 13d)Uses two 6922 tubes to smooth out rough digital edges. Philips drive mechanism.

HDCD, Great Headphone amp/jack with volume control, solid metal remote. SixMoons: “There’s vocal magic in spades but bass definition and rhythmic propulsion

don’t take a back seat. I could go on waxing poetic but the most important point reallyis to stress how difficult it is to achieve this balance in the real audiophile world.”

MiniMax Tube Preamp $800: (4 1/2h, 12 1/2w, 8d)Uses one 6x4 tube rectifier, and two 12 AU7 tubes (one buffer stage, one gain stage). Has three high

level inputs (no phono), manual Alps volume control. Choke filtering contributes to low noise floor.SoundStage: “Although diminutive in size, it’s not short on features, finish or sound quality. The MiniMax hasa distinctive tube sound, but it’s not overdone and isn’t overpowering. Instead, its slightly lush, expressivesound quality provides great insight into the meaning of the music without ever becoming analytical. Add ina delightful sense of rhythmic assurance and you’ve got a juicy component with which to cuddle up on a coldwinter’s night.”MiniMax Tube Poweramp $1100: (5 1/2h, 12 1/2w, 8d)

At 8 w/ch push/pull, you’ll be amazed at the muscle this guy has. It drives the B&W 700 Series Speakersquite nicely! Uses 5AR4 tube rectifier, Quad of 6BM8/ECL82 Power Tubes. Choke filtered. Dick Olsher: “TheSound. Pour yourself a warm bath and settle back with a glass of wine. You have just entered the MiniMaxzone, a domain of luxuriant harmonic textures that envelopes and caresses the aural pleasure centers. Neverthin or harsh sounding, it weaves a liquid sonic tapestry that does wonders for stress relief.”New! MiniMax 520 Tube Integrated Amp $1800: (7 1/2h,16 1/2w, 17d, 58lbs!)

The new integrated puts out 24 w/ch of full tube power in Ultralinear Mode, 18 w/ch in Pentode Mode. It has5 inputs, 2 outs (tape & preamp) and comes with a solidly built remote control which selects inputs andadjusts volume. It has a three position control to adjust negative feedback. It’s warm & mellow, a tube lover’sdream at a fair price!

The 520 uses one 5AR4, two EL-34s, one 12 AU7 and one EF-86.New! MiniMax Phono Preamp $1500

CD-5x $2900: (2 5/8h, 17w, 12d)CD-5x is a classic high end CD player! It performs wonderfully on its own- and allows

upgradability as well. With manual swing out drawer and hockey puck like clamp, CD-5x hasbecome our industry standard in the $3k range for musicality. Even the vinyl addicts love the

sound of this CD player. By adding the $1050 Flatcap 2x, you’ve upgraded the powersupply and sound!

CD-5i $1700: (2 5/8h, 17w, 12d)CD-5i is Naim’s welcome addition to the line. It is a CD-5x without the option of future upgradability.

Hence, if this is your price range and you’re not going further, save the money and buy this new gem!Transparency and resistance to feedback are outstanding- even better than the Jupiter.

Tubes & Solid StateBAT was formed in 1995 by a Russian designer (Victor Khomenko) and two American partners. It has quickly earned thereputation as THE state of the art tube manufacturer, and is earning solid state raves as well.

BAT supports product upgrades so BAT buyers can send their units in forimprovements as they become available!

Tube PreampsVK3ix $2500: (5 3/4h, 19w, 15 1/2d)

VK3ix runs $2500 as a high level preamp. Add $500 for remote control. Add $500 fora built in phono section. VK3ix uses 6922 tubes and has a lush, warm sound. It’s builtlike a tank and weighs 30 lbs! Inputs include 2 XLR and 3 RCA. Outputs include 1 XLRand 1 RCA.VK31SE $5000: (5 3/4h, 19w, 15 1/2d)

SE is BAT’s term for employing the 6H30 Super Tubes from Russia. The 6922s used in the abovemodel is very nice, but the 6H30 performs approximately four times better! Add $500 for remote. Add$500 for phono.VK51SE $8500: (5 3/4h, 19w, 15 1/2d)

VK51SE is BAT’s best preamp! Most reviewers think it’s the best money can buy, PERIOD! Using the6H30 tubes provides the best transparency and soundstaging available. Add $500 for remote. Has onlyXLR ins and outs.

Solid State PreampsVK-20 $2000: (5 3/4h, 19w, 15 1/2d)

Add $500 for remote. Add $500 for built in phono. This solid state preamp is 28 pounds ofclarity and resolution.VK-40 $4000: (5 3/4h, 19w, 15 1/2d)

Add $500 for remote. Add $500 for built in phono. This is BAT’s reference standard in asolid state preamp! It competes very nicely with the finest tube designs and is hassle free.

Tube Power AmpsVK-55 $4000: (8h, 17w, 16d, 50 lbs) 55 w/ch stereo!

This balanced (XLR ins only- RCA adaptors are available) 55 w/ch power house is downright small by BATamp standards! Auto bias circuit automatically compensates for tube warmup, aging or partial mismatching oftubes as well as fluctuations in the voltage. VK-55 can drive tough speaker loads. It is bridgeable to mono(110w) if you ever need more juice- just buy a mate!

But the real beauty of VK-55 is the sound. It’s full, warm and delicate. You owe it to yourself to hear this guy!VK-55 offers the midrange clarity, power, and dynamics that have made BAT one of the mostrespected names in high end audio. Input impedance 215k ohms, Gain 25 dB.VK-75SE $8500: (9h, 17w, 25d) 75 w/ch stereo!

VK-75SE employs the 6H30s described in 31SE above. Russia built the 6H30 to exactingstandards. With Victor’s connections, BAT has purchased the entire inventory so it could offerthe Real McCoy exclusively, instead of a knock off! VK-150SE is the mono version, 150w.

Solid State Power AmpsVK-220 $3000: 125 w/ch, (6 1/2h, 19w, 16d) Add $1000 for BAT PAK. Great mate to VK3ix! VK-220 is quitecomfortable up into B&W N804 and N803 range.VK-250 $5000: 150 w/ch, (6 1/2h, 192, 16d) Add $1000 for BAT PAK. Excellent mate to VK3ix, VK-31SE or VK-51SE. VK-250 BAT PAK at $6000 is considered by many the best sounding solidstate amp you can buy.VK-600 $8000: 250 w/ch, (9 1/2h, 19w, 23d) Add $1000 for BAT PAK- too much fun?!VK-6200: Multi-channel amp: 200w modules, 10 1/2h, 19w, 23d: available as:$6000 200x2: $7250 200x3: $8750 200x4: $10,000 200x5: $11,250 200x6

CD PlayerVK-D5SE $6000: (5 3/4h, 19w 15 1/2d)

This is the best sounding CD player we’ve heard! This is about playing your CDs to the best of their ability. This isn’t a DVD player. It doesn’t do SACD or DVD-A. This is glorious with all of your red book (regular!) CDs.With the 6H30 super tubes you won’t believe how much information, depth and warmth you can get from yourdiscs! Even the analog lovers agree this piece delivers magic.

Dick Olsher: “The SE version substitutes the 6H30 super tube for the 6922. Because of the higher filamentand bias current requirements, a beefier toroidal transformer is also used. Another significant modificationinvolves the introduction of the BAT PAK output capacitor modules, which triples the value of thepaper in oil signal capacitors. It was masterful in its ability to coax spatial information from arecording. Given an ambient recording, it was able to paint a remarkably spacious soundstage. TheBAT routinely excelled in clearly delineating instrumental outlines within the confines of thesoundstage. Midrange textures flowed with a slight tube warmth. The mid and deep bass range wasquite tuneful and packed the requisite punch. It is the perfect CD player with which to enjoy the musictill the end of time.”Integrated Amp: VK300x $4000-6000: 150 w/ch (5 3/4h, 19w, 15 1/2d)

$4000 for solid state preamp and amp section. Add $500 for 6922 tube preamp. Add $500 for 6H30 SE tubepreamp. Add $500 for phono. Add $500 for remote. TAS: “What the BAT team has achieved here may be evenmore remarkable; an integrated amplifier that rivals the finest separates, in a beautiful, flexible and userfriendly package that, to top it off, is also an exquisite value.”

Twenty (20) Year Warranty!Stereo Preamps: Black or Silver

BP-26 $3200: (Two Chassis Design: each is: 2 1/2h, 17w, 13d)New from Bryston is this top of the line preamp with outboard power supply. But instead of

making the power supply a “wall wart” design, Bryston uses a full chassis called MPS-2. MPS-2 isoutboard (runs $1200 a la carte and can be added to Bryston BP-20 and BP-25) to eliminateinterference and lower BP-26’s noise floor and crosstalk. BP-26’s remote is a chunk of steel! BP-26 with built in MM phono runs $3600,with MM/MC $4200. BP-26 with built in Bryston DAC runs $4200. BP-26 has 2 Bal inputs, 5 RCA ins, full tape loop, 1 set of Bal outs and 2sets of RCA outs.

Inner Ear: “Bass is not only resolute, but delineates harmonics above the fundamentals- that’s more musical and more pleasing.Midrange, the important frequency where most instruments and everything vocal takes place, was resolute in the older model. In the BP-26, resolution is maintained, however, along with fundamental information, harmonics add a musical flow, almost sweetness to the sound –and this musicality doesn’t come at a price, because inner detail, space and focus are preserved. The BP-26’s high frequencies areoutstanding. They are more graceful in nature, more organic in texture and performed without a hint of strain. The effortless reach into thehighs completes musical information from start to finish and always with that special flow we call musicality.

Selections from our usual CD collection from jazz, blues and classical music quickly revealed that sonic differences were less thandramatic, but clearly more musical with the Bryston DAC in the circuit. The Bryston DAC performed the digital functions flawlessly butregenerated those digits into very musical analogue information. Though we used the same transports the sonic attributes of the Brystonwere immediately heard: more harmonics, more ‘bloom’ and a touch better imaging.”BP-6 $2100: (2 1/2h, 17w, 13d)

Brand new also is Bryston’s entry level preamp, BP-6. With four RCA inputs and two Bal inputs BP-6 isa slightly less feature laden version of Bryston’s venerable BP-25. BP-6 features RCA and Bal outputs.Add $500 for built in MM phono, add $1000 for MM/MC. Clean, and quiet- just like BP-25! BP-6 withoutremote runs $1700.BP 1.5 $1800: (2 1/2h, 17w, 13d) Phono Section Only

For MM & MC. This stand alone phono preamp is as clean and quiet as it gets, for state of the artanalog!

Stereo Power Amps2B-SST $1900: 100 w/ch (5 1/4h, 17w, 11d)

2B-SST is Bryston’s newest power amp. It’s just a scaled down 3B-SST which has become an industrystandard! Using this with a BP-6 (sans remote) runs you true Bryston separates for $3600!3B-SST $2500: 150 w/ch (5 1/4h, 17w, 11d)

3B-SST has become our industry’s “best buy” in a high end amp. Customers who haveowned Audires, NADs, Adcoms, Haflers and the like have moved up to 3B-SST and yelled atus for not making them do it sooner! Our demo did 174 w/ch .001% THD, 119 SN ratio!

Fi: “When Sinatra sings, ‘I’m feelin’ so bad you can’t make the music easy and sad,’ theBryston delivers the mood so well that you want to go put your arm around the guy’s shoulderand comfort him. It gave me the chills. Based on this listener’s experience the 3 sets a newbenchmark for entry level high-performance in a power amp. Buy one and forget about it, andlive happily ever after.”4B-SST $3100: 300 w/ch (5 1/4h, 17w, 15 3/4d)

4B-SST is a power house! With audiophile precision and power enough to drive ANYTHING, 4B-SST is ourbest selling power amp! Our demo did 352 w/ch, .001% THD, 119 SN ratio!

Image Hifi: “When my Naim DBL loudspeakers (notoriously demanding) were connected the 4B-SST ampcould really revel in the nether regions and demonstrated its pronounced mobility. Extremely clear gradationsand modulations are produced which leave many other power amps in the dust. The Bryston exhibits anespecially lively and speedy pace, which unceasingly sweeps one along. The transition to thevocal range is achieved homogeneously and without breaks because of the especially finelydrawn high frequency spectrum. The listener was rewarded with a more convincing andimpressive presentation, which is surely due to the excellence of this exceedingly potent poweramp. Image verdict: Ultra robust, sensible, indestructible, potent and tonally powerful are fittingattributes.”14B-SST $6000: 600 w/ch (7h, 17w, 19d)

14B-SST is the stereo, one chassis version of the 7B-SST reference amp described on p11.When you need the best and don’t have room for mono blocks, here it is!

Despite being a single chassis, 14 has two totally independent amp modules, each with its own powertransformer and power supply. Sound & Image: “With the Bryston amp everything was perfectly precise. Thesound was neutral and not the least bit aggressive. But it was incredibly detailed. The various sound planeswere positioned in the right places, forming a stereo image that spread out far beyond the speakers. I couldalmost taste the air around the instruments. The guitar throbbed its way right into my gut and the emotionsbrought tears to my eyes. I was right there in the studio, face to face with the performers and the music wasrolling over me. You could feel the power without breaking your eardrums.”

is BP-6 with fewer inputs. B-60R has a tape loop and 4 high level ins. The amp section is 2B-LP, a stereo amp Bryston has soldfor $1200 alone. How can they put both of these units in B-60R for $2200?! Pre-out/Main-in

horse shoe jacks. Headphone jack.Stereophile: “Let’s get serious- how does the amp sound? Damned good! Startlingly good.

Neutral. Its resolution was superb- of knockout quality. With a good recording each instrumentalistwas placed precisely in the soundstage, side to side, front to back- as it is with separatecomponents typically costing hundreds if not thousands of dollars more. I could hear the recordingenvironment- reverberations, the air in the hall. High end hifi is about this kind of transparency- about spatial resolution. Finally! BravoBryston! A landmark… a reference… a triumph… a steal!”B-100SST Integrated Amp $2700: 100 w/ch (4 3/4h, 17w, 16d)

New big brother to B-60R! Hifi & Records: “The upper mid range is full-bodied yet crystal clear, authentic and very neutral. This is one of the most neutral integrated amplifiers that I have everencountered, and one that deserves great respect.”SP 1.7 Surround Sound Preamp Processor $4700: (4h, 17w, 12 1/2d)

SP 1.7 is an audio purist’s dream preamp for a surround system! It doesn’t switch video. Bryston feelsswitching video on board compromises the audio purity. SP 1.7 has an extremely quiet noise floor andtransparent presentation. Bryston has a short cut, devoid of ICs for analog signals. Its op amp isdiscrete after D to A conversion. Two toroidal transformers are used, one for analog and one for digital.

Audio: “Separate preamp/processors benefit from the absence of these interference fields, which arecreated in power amplifiers due to the high current necessary to drive speakers. With the highly sensitivemix of analog and digital signal processing which takes place in home theater processors, the banning ofelectro-magnetic troublemakers is all the more necessary because we are dealing here with five amplifiermodules, not just two.”

Audio Vision: “The lab results are a sheer delight. That the Bryston combination (with 9B-SST) is able to handle every kind of soundperfectly was confirmed by the listening test. Delicately and at the same time powerfully the signal triumphed through our loudspeakersand did not hold back the slightest detail- true high end in its most forthright form. Practically militarily precise reproduction but in no waystiff or without feeling, it breathed real life into the sounds, and with well recorded discs, conjured tangible ‘live atmosphere.’ Fabulous washow acoustically convincing it reproduced Diana Krall, at the piano and the band around her. The Brystons equally fascinatinglyreproduced movie sound tracks, whether soft tones or room atmosphere was called for, or brutal bass heavy thunderstorms and directionaleffects all around. The reproduction pulled the listeners downright into the scenes.”SPV-1 Video Switcher $1700: (1 3/4h, 17w, 12d)

Since SP 1.7 doesn’t switch video, you may need a switcher, depending on your TV and how slickyou need the operation. SPV-1 has 6 Composite ins, 6 S ins, 2 Component ins- each set is anisolated path. Outputs include Monitor out, Composite, S and Component as well as record outs forComposite & S.Multi-Channel Power Amps9B-SST $4900: 120x5 (5 1/4h, 17w, 17 1/2d)

9B-SST is also available in 3ch $3545, 4ch $4095. The 9B-SST sounds so clean and clear you’ll beas thrilled as we are with its sound. All kinds of shenanigans are played with surround sound specs inour industry, so I decided to check the print out test that came with a 9B-SST. With all channels drivensimultaneously our demo put out 160w times 5 at .001%THD! SN Ratio was 116dB! While specscertainly don’t tell you everything, start a little comparing. Check a few other tests, you can’t trustmanufacturer claims. Check power performance when all channels are driven from 20-20k. THD levelsand SN ratio.

Audio: “When I listened to both amps in a matched level comparison, it was immediately obvious that this new Bryston surpassed theKrell very nearly across the board. Living with the excellent Krell had taken my system’s sound to a new height, but the Bryston raises thebar significantly in all of the areas that I believe are most important to an amp’s sound (or rather, its lack of one). The most obviousimprovement was in the bass. Overall, the sense I got from the Bryston was that it’s a more neutral and powerful amp than the Krell KAV-500, which itself is more neutral and powerful than just about any other five channel amp you’re going to find at any price. I look forward tothe months ahead as I begin to use the Bryston as my new reference amp because my system has never sounded nearly as good whenthe 9B-SST has been in the driver’s seat!”7B-SST Mono Block Reference Amp $3300ea: 600 watts mono! (5 1/4h, 17w, 11d)

Whether in stereo or surround sound, when you want huge power and the last word in speakercontrol, run with the 7B-SST, an industry classic! Since I was checking how our 9B-SST did above, Ithought I’d pull the test sheet on a 7B-SST while I was at it. It did an impressive 643 watts, .001 %THD, SN ratio 117dB!

Stereophile: “This monoblock captivated LG with its speed, drive, slam and superb control of themid and upper mid bass. Open, exciting, transparent, dynamic, effortless- he inventoried, calling the 7an amplifier that can handle any loudspeaker load, play wide dynamic range music effortlessly andexcel in imaging and soundstaging. A must audition for anyone who needs a new amplifier for driving high impedance electrostaticloudspeakers or dynamic speakers that seem somewhat bass shy. When KR compared it to the Moon W-5, he found the big Bryston madelarge dynamic contrast more seamless.”

All Models Available in Silver or BlackSurround Sound Receivers: 5 Year Warranty!

Rotel’s wattage rating is legit. That is, Rotel receivers run their ratings for all five or sevenchannels driven simultaneously, at 8 ohms. 20-20kHz, at .05% THD. You’ll find virtually all

competitors rate their receivers one channel at a time, at 4 or 6 ohms, at 1kHz, at 1% THD. If you took100w of brand X, and rated it FAIRLY as Rotel does, it would spec at 30w instead of 100!RSX-1056 $1300: 75x5: (6 1/2h, 17 1/8w, 16 5/8d)

Fantastic surround sound receiver! Rotel has preouts for potential 6th and 7th channels. But, they only build fiveamps onto this chassis because they realize most of us only need five! With that reality in mind RSX-1056 uses allof its real estate for five, instead of forcing you to buy two channels you won’t use, or diminishing the quality ofsound because you’ve cut the pie into 7 pieces instead of five. If you do add #6 &7 later, all you do is add an ampand speakers.RSX-1067 $2200: 100x7 (7 1/2h, 17 1/8w, 15 3/4d)

The bigger brother has a bit more kick yet and 7ch of amplification on board. If you’re driving harder andwant it all on one chassis, this is the one to get. Both Rotels switch video to 100meg, meaning they’ll switchthe video of HDTV sources through their component connections.

Surround Sound Preamps: 5 Year Warranty!RSP-1068 $1700: (4 7/8h 17 1/8w, 16 1/2d)

RSP-1068 is a supreme bargain in the high end separates surround sound world! It’s a great sounding, full featured preamp/processor for reasonable money! 3 Coax ins, 2 Opts, Assignable, Tape loop, CD, Tuner,Video 1-5, 3 Component ins, 1 out. It has pre-outs for up to 7.1 and has a 5.1 multi-channel input. For pureraudio purposes Rotel does NOT build a tuner on board. It would create RFI and raise the noise floor of theunit unacceptably! PV: “It’s the 1068’s audiophile grade electronics- vivid extension and detail- that boosts itnear the top of its class. This is a controller to listen to even if you never see another movie.”RSP-1098 $3000: (6 1/2h, 17 1/8w, 161/2d)

This top dog has a built in 7 inch TFT screen to allow you to monitor a number of differentsources. It’s a sonic step up from the RSP-1068 above (Cirrus Logic and Burr Brown DACs & OpAmps) and has much more flexibility such as four Component ins. The 1098 can center a veryintricate and substantial AV system!

DVD Players: Two Year Warranty!RDV-1040 $500: (3 5/8h,17 1/8w,13 1/8d): Rotel’s entry level DVD video player!RDV-1050 $700: (3 5/8h,17 1/8w,13 1/8d): Improved 1040, slightly better video, plays DVD-A

Stereo Receiver: RX-1052 $900: Five Year Warranty!100 w/ch (4 3/4h, 17 1/8w, 14 1/8d)

Rotel hasn’t forgotten those of us who love music more than surround sound and they still make afirst class STEREO receiver. They’re about the last company standing serving this niche to a seriousextent. It has Phono, Tape loop, AM-FM, CD, Video 1-4. It has zone 2, 3 & 4 out for audio andcomposite video. Keypads for remote operation in other zones are available as well. It has remote, bassand treble controls. It doesn’t have a balance control. It has a Headphone Jack, Speakers A&B. Itsounds clean and is the best stereo receiver we know of!

Tuner: AM-FM With Remote: Five Year Warranty!RT-1080 $500: (3 5/8h,17 1/8w, 13 1/8d): Clean sounding tuner with dual coax in & remote.Rotel should introduce RT-1084 in 2006, $800: this plus HD FM reception of HD channels.

CD Players: Two Year Warranty!RCD-1072 $700: (3 3/4h, 17 1/8w, 13d): KILLER CD player! It’s among the best audio values in anyproduct category! When you want a great front end at less than huge money, here it is!

TAS: “TAS 2003 Overall Product of the Year! RCD-1072’s most salient sonic characteristic is itsquietude. It has the lowest noise level of any CD player I’ve heard at any price. This achievement hasmajor sonic ramifications. Listener fatigue is greatly reduced. RCD-1072 frees the brain from the effortof listening ‘around’ the various distortions inherent in the digital chain. By studiously reducing digitalnoise artifacts, the 1072 allows music and the instruments that make it, to emerge in stark glory.”RCC-1055 $700: (3 5/8h, 17 1/8w, 16d): Five disc carousel player. Fine player but not as sonically advanced asRCD-1072. Built well, good tracker, discrete random function!

Integrated Amp: Five Year Warranty!RA-1062 $700: (3 5/8h, 17 1/8w, 13 1/8d) 60 w/ch audiophile integrated! Ideal match for RCD-1072 above forincredible sound/affordable price, true high end performance!

TAS: “In addition to its stellar dynamics and uncolored sound, the 1062’s soundstaging is exemplary. Iwas more than a little pleased with its bass performance. Don’t let the 60 w/ch rating temper yourexpectations in this area; this amp’s bass is both robust and tuneful. The 1062’s low end power and precisetransients conspire to create seductive rhythms at every musical turn. Indeed the RA-1062 is the idealcenterpiece for serious yet modestly budgeted systems. And if you were persuaded by our review of theRCD-1072, look no further for a worthy companion. The RA-1062 is in every way its perfect mate.”Phono Preamp: RQ-970 $200: (2 7/8h, 17 1/8w, 7 1/8d): Excellent, too inexpensive phono section thatsupports MM & MC! All Models Available in Silver or BlackStereo Preamp With Remote: 5 Year Warranty!

RC-1070 $500: (3 5/8h, 17 1/8w, 13 1/8d)Outstanding, quiet, solidly built full function preamp! Don’t under rate this rascal. You

have to go to $2000 to beat it in a full function preamp! Built in Phono, 2 Tape loops, CD,Tuner, Aux, Headphone jack, Contour control instead of tone controls, record/listen selector, nobalance. Switching is electronic- not mechanical- hence no noisy switches to annoy you overthe years! Two preamp outs.

Stereo Power Amplifiers: 5 year Warranty!RB-1050 $400: 70 w/ch (3 5/8h, 17 1/8w, 13 1/3d)

A solid, gutsy amp! Good for stereo and driving multiple room applications. A workhorse!RB-1070 $700: 130 w/ch (4 3/4h, 17 1/8w, 13 1/8d)

This is an audiophile grade amp! It’s faster, cleaner and more dynamic than RB-1050. It’s a verygood choice for B&W 600s/700s. RB-1070 has an open, airy top end and is extremely tight in thebass. If you’re looking for an amp with superior transparency, smoothness, imaging than themasses for not much more money- RB-1070 is a good choice!RB-1080 $1000: 200 w/ch (5 1/2h, 17 1/8w, 15d)

RB-1080 is a real benchmark amp! At 200 w/ch it can drive the biggest speakers out there. Itssound is more in the audiophile domain than the mainstream. Often compared to the likes ofBryston! Specifically, RB-1080 bests the RB-1070 in bass impact and dynamic contrast.Stereophile: “I found the Rotel-B&W combo to be very convincing. I used the RB-1080 for abouttwo weeks with the Nautilus 800s and never felt the need to switch to one of the other amps onhand. The N800 ($20,000pr) made it clear how good an amplifier the Rotel was.”RB-1090 $2000: 380 w/ch (9 3/8h, 17 1/8w, 15d, 90 lbs)

A Tyrannosaurus Rex of an amp! With ferocious power and low impedance stability, RB-1090 isa beast in all regards! Stereophile: “The level of listening fatigue engendered by the RB-1090 is oneof the lowest I’ve encountered in a solid state amplifier! I could listen to music for long periods andfeel little inclination to change amplifiers. The 1090’s other major strength was its harmonic accuracy:the ability of an amplifier to preserve the distinctive timbres of voices and musical instruments. Voiceshad much of the rounded quality they have in real life. The Rotel’s tonal balance was sweeter and tomy ears, more natural than that of the Parasound. Both amplifiers represent outstanding value, andboth are capable of excellent performance in the right system, but my preference is for the Rotel.”RB-1092 $2500: 500 w/ch (4 3/4h, 17 1/8w, 13 1/8d ) New Digital Amp to ship Jan 2006RB-1091 $1500: 500 w Monoblock (4 3/4h, 17 1/8w, 13 1/8d) New Digital Amp, due 1-06RKB Series Custom Amps: Rack Faced, Black Only: Super Stabile!RKB-250 $550: 50 w/ch (2 U high, approx. 4h, 19w, 13d, 18 lbs)RKB-2100 $800: 100 w/ch (3 U high, approx 5 3/4h, 19w, 13d, 25 lbs)RKB-650 $900: 60w x6 (3 U high, approx 5 3/4h, 19w, 17d, 35 lbs)RKF-100 $400: 3 fans in RKB-250 amp sized rack chassis. Multi-Channel Amplifiers: Five Year Warranty!New! RMB-1077 $2500: 100x7 (2 7/8h, 17 1/8w, 16 3/8d, 17 lbs) New digital amp whichruns very cool and sounds extremely clean! The prejudice against digital amps is that theysound grungy. RMB-1077 and its siblings above, RB-1091 & 1092, shatter this myth! This isa new generation of amplification from Rotel- sure to spawn a broad line. Transparency, imaging and transient attack will impress you for home theater or music demands! Perfectmate for RSP-1068 preamp/processor. At $4200 for the pair Rotel is setting newstandards of resolution.RMB-1095 $2000: 200w x5 (9 3.8h, 17 1/8w, 15d, 88 lbs)

This is like 5 channels of RB-1080 in one box. It combines robust power withaudiophile character.RMB-1075 $1000: 120w x5 (7 1/2h, 17 1/8w, 15d, 47 lbs)

This is the best value in a home theater amp you can get! It sounds clear and fast, like 5 channels of RB-1070 in one box! PV: “The1075 was a close match to its big brother. It was smooth throughout the midband and lower treble and slightly darker and less transparentthan 1095. The 1075 plays big yet has delicacy that belies its intimidating power. It seemed to hold on to the bass drum’s harmonicstructure longer. Soundstaging seemed better. It was not quite as effortless or controlled at the frequency extremes as the 1095, but it wasawfully good!”RMB-1066 $700: 60w x 6 or 150w x3 (4 3/4h, 17 1/8w, 17d)

Five S ins, three S outs, Five Composite ins, Three Composite outs, FourComponent ins, One Component out. True Speaker A-B switching, headphone jack with SRSsurround.

Perfect Vision: “Sonically the Marantz had an effortless, darkish tonality with little treble edginess oracerbity. Even on recordings that exhibited some peaky behavior during louder passages the Marantzsoftened the peaks without sacrificing the details. Its bass reproduction was defined yet relaxed. Iteffectively communicated reverberant subtleties without substituting bloat for genuine extension. Thedelicacy of the hyper fast piano trills and the rustling of brushes on a snare had an immediacy thatsuggest a live event rather than a recorded one. The Marantz also had a speed and liveliness thatmade it stand out in this survey.

Above all we found SR-7500 a very musical receiver with good tonal balance. The receiver workswell with full-range speakers, and when we engaged its Pure Direct Mode, the entire presentationopened up as if a veil were lifted from the speakers.”SR-8500 $1500: 125w x 7 (6 7/16h, 17 5/16w, 18 1/2d)

SR-8500 is a very solid choice in a surround receiver! It’s built like a tank, featuring superiormechanical design to SR-7500. It runs a fair amount cooler and delivers more gusto to demandingspeakers. Features MRAC and RC-1400.

It uses a custom built toroidal transformer, copper chassis, double layer bottom plate, gold platedinputs and outputs, short signal paths and extra shielding in the most critical areas. SR-8500 isdefinitely an audiophile grade surround choice. Ins and outs are the same as SR-7500 except it has 2DVI in and 1 DVI out. PV: “There’s no pro like an old pro. Reproducing sonic subtleties with this level ofsophistication and refinement is a snap for an old audiophile-hand like Marantz. This 125 wpc sevenchannel AVR raises the bar.”SR-9600 $4200: 140w x 7 (8 7/8h, 17 5/16w, 19 1/2d, 60 lbs)

The sound character is detailed andEFFORTLESS. The amp has plenty of reserve for any speakers we’ve run. Has six line level inputs, phono (MM& MC) runs $400 more.

What Hifi: “This marvelous amplifier doesn’t put a foot wrong. Detail, power and dynamics are all class-leading, while the build, finish and features add to a satisfying package.” What Hifi gave AVI the only five star rating in arecent shootout with Primare, Moon and Orelle- all much pricier competition.

HiFi Choice: “It packs a huge wallop for such a bijou nugget of a design. Power into 8ohms is rated at a conservative 200 watts a side. Peak current delivered compared to thatof an arc welder. Awkward speaker loads hold no fear. Exceptional power and grip for itssize gives a physical yet mighty resolved and engaging style of music making, with terrificdynamic range and excellent bass performance. An out and out audiophile bargain.”CD Player $3300: Single Play CD Player (3 3/4h, 12 3/8w, 12 1/4d)

Rega makes great turntables, cartridges and CD players!Turntables

P2 $500: P2 is an excellent entry level turntable! It’s a Rega built product from the ground upincluding RB250 tonearm. The plinth is a low mass particulate core sandwiched by highly rigid

If you are getting serious about vinyland are looking for the point of diminishing returns, P3 is IT! $750 “Colored.”P5 $1300: P5 is a slight notch above P3. It uses an aluminum alloy framearound the resin base. P5 comes with slightly improved arm, RB700. While thepower supply is built in, you can bypass it and purchase PSU separately for $350which helps a tad.P7 $2600: P7 has a superior base and subchassis to P5. Classic top loading player. Using three power supplies and a custom Rega designed DAC, built in Scotland by Wolfson, the Planet hasearned raves for its warm, musical, non-digital sound. Stereophile: “I hear more of each recording- more detail, more ambient information-without losing the right, full-bodied sound that I’ve come to associate with Rega. The bottomend was exceptional- and this, as I suggested earlier, is exactly where so many lessexpensive CD players tend to be deficient- expensive ones too! The midrange was soneutral, so smooth and sweet, that the Planet was one of the least fatiguing CD players Ihave heard. There was a beguiling sweetness of tone. If your present system soundsaggressively hard, if it’s lacking body and warmth, if the bass doesn’t boogie, then the Planetmay be just the CD player you’re looking for.”Jupiter $1800: 3 5/8h, 17 w, 12d

Stereophile: “In side by side comparisons the Jupiter provided a more powerful, more dynamic sound thanthe Planet. The dual DACs delivered superior low level resolution.”

Tivoli offers a nice array of great sounding small radios and associated electronics. It’s the warm sound and classic lookthat make Tivoli better than the thin walled plastic stuff you see at the superstores!

You might remember the name Henry Kloss. Henry was the K of KLH in its prime. He went on to start Advent and makesome of the best speakers for the money of the 70s. His innovative mind made home theater projectors a reality with the Kloss

Novabeam. Near the end of his career Henry went back to his roots wanting to stick to high quality, affordable audio. Tivoli is the fruitof this design work!Model One $120: (4h 8 3/8w, 5” d: Beige/Walnut or Black)

This is a mono AM-FM table radio with classic look, though now available inBlack European style. Henry Kloss designed this radio and proudly claimed it,“the culmination of over 40 years of bringing music into people’s home viaproducts they tend to keep and enjoy.” Stereophile: “The Model One had arichness, a warmth, a generosity of tone, and a clarity that made for enjoyablelistening. I was never fatigued. I’m keeping it for my office.”Model Two $200: (2 units, 4h, 8 3/8w, 5”d: Taupe/Cherry or Silver/Black)

Model Two is a stereo AM-FM radio that comes with a companion speaker. Model Two has an aux input for anoutboard source like Tivoli’s CD player (or an IPOD), and can accommodate Tivoli’s Subwoofer as well. ModelTwo will impress you with its rich flavor. When you add the CD player, $200, you’re only at $400 for a legit small stereo system! Toss on the$80 Sub and for under $500, you’ve got a terrific system.

We’ve found historic CDs to be a real treat on the Tivolisystem. Since the system doesn’t have the same highfrequency response as your big, fancy stereo, it is veryforgiving of a little master tape hiss. While crisp new CDssparkle, you’ll find classic CDs of recordings from the 30s-60s are quite enjoyable. I have some vintage recordings byCortot, Schnabel, Kempff and even Rachmaninov himself. You’ll enjoy older music more than ever when played on thisforgiving system. PC Review: “When I tuned in a classicalstation, the way the music enveloped me left me with a foolishgrin on my face. Again, I couldn’t believe such beautiful soundfrom such small sources.”Model CD $200: (4h, 8 3/8w, 6”d: Taupe/Cherry or Silver/Black)

This single play CD player is a very good tracker and comeswith remote. It’s the ideal mate for the Model Two above. It isbuilt nicely and serves as a wonderful source!Model Subwoofer $80: (6h, 9w, 6 5/16”d: Taupe/Cherry or Silver/Black)

The amount of bass this powered little guy produces will shockyou. When we add this to our Model Two in our 20x15’ showroom,it always elicits smiles! It has a 5” woofer and 20w amp for youaudiophiles out there! R. Bryan: “The Model Subwoofer isdesigned not as a window rattler, rather to more subtly enhancethe music to which you are listening. That it does, giving the musica little additional definition that makes you notice the beautifulsound of the music.”Model Three $200: (4h, 8 3/8w, 5”d, Taupe/Cherry)

This clock radio (it even has hands!) is a Model Two without the companion speaker. Instead of thecompanion speaker, you get a clock (with alarm) and the speaker fires up instead of straight out. You canuse it in mono by itself or add the Companion Speaker ($50) or Dual Alarm Speaker ($100) to achievestereo performance. You can also add the Model CD and Model Subwoofer to create quite the bedroommusic system. Radio World: “Tivoli’s Model 3 advances the premium radio genre while maintaining theclassic design characteristics advocated by Henry Kloss.” MSNBC: “The Model 3 is beautiful, soundsincredible and wakes you up on time. What more could you ask from a top flight clock radio?”Companion Speaker $50: (4h, 8 3/8w, 5”d: Taupe/Cherry)

The Companion Speaker comes with a 15’ cable and connects to the Model 3 for stereo!Dual Alarm Speaker $100: (4h, 8 3/8w, 5”d, Taupe/Cherry)

The Dual Alarm Speaker gives you a top firing speaker just like the one built in the Model 3 and ofcourse, another clock face with alarm. Hence, you get stereo and a his & hersalarm clock in the bargain.PAL $150: (6 1/4h, 3 11/16w, 3 7/8”d): Black, Red, Green, Blue, Pearl, YellowIPAL $150: Same unit with cosmetics to match your IPOD!

Everybody needs a PAL (Portable Audio Laboratory). This is an AM-FM radiowith built in rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride battery. The cabinet finish isrubberized (on PAL) so it’s water resistant, perfect to drag outside when youwash the car! The IPAL finish is plastic. The 2.5” speaker sounds quite clear. The battery takes about 3 hours to charge. Then your PAL will play for about8 hours. S. Morgenstern: “The PAL delivers surprisingly rich sound form its2.5” speaker. Also striking is the pinpoint precise manual tuner.”

Much of NAD’s amp magic is derived from its Soft Clipping Circuit. This rounds or softens harsh musical edges so we don’thear a biting distortion. NAD has used this design since 1977 to get great mileage out of reasonably priced amplifiers.Bjorn Erik Edvardsen is NAD’s senior engineer. Certain signature models in the line are

designated BEE and are refinements of classic family members!

Integrated AmpsC320BEE $400: 50 w/ch: (4h, 17 1/8w, 12d) with remote

320 is the start of NAD’s strongest suit, the steal of a deal integrated amp! Holmgren ToroidalTransformer, 7 line inputs, Pre-out/Main-in, Headphone jack, Bass/Treble/Defeat. Stereophile: “I don’t feel theleast bit silly putting a $400 integrated amp in the same system with a $3500 SACD player, $8000speakers, and God only knows how many dollars worth of cables. The NAD is musically and sonicallyaccomplished, and is probably about as close to organic sound as you can get for this kind of money.”C352 $600: 80 w/ch (4h, 17 1/8w, 12d) with remoteC372 $900: 150 w/ch (5 1/4h, 17 1/8w, 14d) with remote

This is yet anothersuccessful NAD tweak. C521BEE is not only the undisputed class leader, it’s a true sonic athlete.”C542 $500: (2 3/4h, 17 1/8, 12d)

EchoBusters makes sound absorbing and reflecting panels. These panels are attractive and come in a variety offabric options. Their purpose is to absorb ringing in your listening room so you hear your speakers, instead of the

reflection off the walls! Custom sizes available. The ideal package includes, Echo Busters, one behind each speaker and one on each side wall, half way

between you and the speakers. Add four Corner Busters. Add two Double Busters behindyour listening position. Add two Bass Busters in corners to slow down the boom. The entire

grouping in 4’ height runs about $1800.Stereophile: “I’ve used a lot of tools to tame and tune rooms over the years, from rugs, plants and

homebrew panel absorbers to such off-the-shelf products as RoomTunes, ASC Tube Traps and RPG Diffuserpanels. But for nearly a decade now, the mainstays of my approach have been Echo Busters (absorbers), Double

Busters (diffusers) and Bass Busters (bass traps).Like most foam-based absorbers, the Echo Buster’s absorption increases as frequency rises, going from essentially

zero effect at 125 Hz to being completely absorptive above about 375 Hz. Image improved focus was probably thebiggest benefit, manifesting itself most obviously in an increase in the dimensionality and tangibility- the density- ofimages. Ricky Lee Jones’ image is much sharper, much more dense. It finally seems like I could walk out and put myarms around her, instead of just knowing that she’s somewhere over there.

I’m a big fan of diffusers, particularly behind and around speakers and on the wall behind the listening chair. The big benefits were in soundstaging- expanding and opening up the stage, increasing the spaces betweenperformers and creating around them a coherent live- feeling space. Another verdict: Another winner.

With Bass Busters in place, the bottom was cleaned up to a remarkable degree. The verdict? Problem solved. The room had gone from essentially unlistenable to having excellent bottom-end balance and articulation. Moneywell spent.

As a music lover, now that I’ve heard what Echo Busters can do for a system, I never want to be without them. They get my highest recommendation.”Echo Busters: $190 4x18”, $265 5x24”, Absorbs, we recommend them behind your front speakers and alongthe side walls to kill your speaker’s first reflection.Double Busters: $250 4x18”: $300 4x24”, $310, $310 5x18”, $335 5x24.” Absorbs & Diffuses. We recommendtwo behind your listening position.Bass Busters: $290 for 4x9” tube. Absorbs ringing bass frequencies. We recommend two in your listening room.Corner Busters: 4/$166: Stop megaphone ringing in your corners.
