What was the weather like during

the Christmas holidays?

The weather may be sunny or a

little bit rainy, but it will be

quite warm.

It was cold all day, frosty in the

mornings and sometimes raining.

Have you noticed? The birds are tweeting very early in the

morning.

The sun is still shining at bedtime.

The sun is very bright and high in the

sky.

The days seem longer.

Was it the same in winter?

Warning!

Never look directly at the sun..

In winter the daylight hours are less which makes the days seem short and often dark.

In summer the daylight hours are much longer, the sun is higher in the sky making it much brighter and warmer for longer.

In spring the days start to get longer and brighter.

In autumn the days start to get shorter and less bright.

This is because of the way the Earth orbits the sun. In summer we are closer to the sun so have more warmth and daylight.

Was it the same in winter? No !

mornings, cloudy and rainy days, sometimes

snow, hail or ice, strong winds.

Spring – warmer days, rain showers, some

wind.

Summer – warm or hot days, followed by

thunder storms, gentle breezes.

Autumn – cooler days, cloud, wind and rain.
