IntroductionSt. Lawrence College, one of the leading academic institution in Nepal, was established in the year 1997 AD with an aim to impart quality education demanded by the time. It is located in the heart of Kathmandu i.e. Chabahil.

T BSc CSITBachelors of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology (BSc.CSIT) is a 4-year, 8 semester’s program introduced by Tribhuvan University, Institute of Science and Technology. This course was designed in 2064 B.S. by T.U. The program develops the underlying principles of both Computer Science and Information Technology and shows how these principles can be applied to real world problems. This program develops the skills that are essential for both for both computer professionals and IT managers. The program comprises computer science and allied courses of 126 credit hours.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at St. Lawrence College has been established on 2067 B.S. as a center of excellence in Computer Science, through the initiation and support of eminent personalities and intellectuals who have rich, varied and profound expertise in the field of Computer and Information Technology.

St. Lawrence realizes the importance of IT management study and helps to enforce the strength of this study so as to benefit our young aspirants to become the successful IT managers/programmers in the future. To achieve this noble objective, BSc.CSIT program at St. Lawrence has following aspects:

Eligibility for AdmissionThe candidate applying for BSc.CSIT program must have:

• Applicants are required to appear in the entrance test conducted by Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan University (ISOT-TU) and should secure at least 35% marks in order to be eligible.

• The candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with Minimum 'C' grade in all subjects of grade 11 and 12 by taking Physics and Mathematics of 100 marks.

(Note: Both Biology and Mathematics group of students of +2 level are eligible to apply for the course)

Curriculum StructureThe BSc.CSIT program will have eight semesters with 126 credit hours. Each semester shall have duration of 6 months (Minimum of 15 weeks to maximum of 20 Weeks). All the subjects carry 3 credits each. This program comprises of the following courses:

A About BCABachelor of Arts in Computer Applications (BCA) is a four year (8 Semesters) academic program designed by Tribhuvan University (TU) under Faculty of Humanities and Social Science (FOHSS) .

The objective of the BCA program is to produce high quality computer application users and developers by providing intensive knowledge in the theory, design, programming and application of computers. It provides an in-depth understanding of and experience with computer systems and develops creative and analytical skills that provides a basis for technological problem-solving.

Eligibility for AdmissionMinimum D+ grade in each subject of grade 11 and 12 with CGPA 2.0 or moreOrMinimum score of second division marks in 10+2, PCL or equivalent in any discipline.OrStudents who have passed grade 11 and are waiting for supplementary exam (PURAK PARIKSHA) of grade 12 can also apply. However, they have to submit all the required documents at the time of admission.

Teaching MethodologyBoth courses follow a pre-determined lesson plan prepared by its respective faculty members. Students are made aware of the relevancy of the course and its practical implications. Our department uses e-learning methodology where the faculty members share their assignments, Notes, E-books, handbooks, slides, useful software and other materials to the students. The teachers encourage the students to submit their assignment through the mail system. Students are encouraged to interact during and after class hours. They are also encouraged to indulge in individual and group researches.

S Bachelor in Business Studies (BBS)BBS is four years undergraduate degree of Tribhuvan University under Faculty of Management.

The objective of the BBS programme is to develop students into competent managers for any sector. The student will have an opportunity to obtain a broad knowledge of the concepts and reality- based skills underlying the operation and management of organizations. Upon graduation, students will be equipped to function as a manager in business, industry and government.

Curricular Structure The FOM recognizes the need for both breadth and depth in the total academic pattern. Therefore, the curriculum for BBS degree comprises three distinct course components: 1. A strong foundation allied areas of business such as language, economic analysis, legal environment and quantitative method to prepare graduates to understand, analyze and comprehend the management concepts, theories and practices. 2. Core business studies encompassing and integrating all functional areas to provide graduates with and appreciation of the diversity and inter-relationship of business and management issues. 3. )Bachelor of Arts (BA)Bachelor of Arts (BA) is a three-year course program offered by Tribhuvan University (TU) and its constitute colleges/ affiliated private colleges. The course was designed to enhance the students conceptual and theoretical understanding and methodological skills of respective subjects.

All the subjects/ courses offered in BA level is authorized and managed under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FOHSS), TU. Bachelor in Arts constitutes a wide range of courses in various subjects such as Major English, Nepali, Mathematics, Sociology, Economics, Journalism, Social work, Psychology, etc.

On completion of the BA course, students basically possess theoretical and practical skills and Knowledge of recognized standard with which they can pursue their career in a multitude of professions such as teaching, journalism, consultancy, social work activism, NGO, INGO and Government Organization services

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program of Tribhuvan University prepares students for entry-level practice in social work. Social Work is one of the helping professions committed to improving people’s lives. Social workers may assist people in dealing with their relationships, in solving personal and family problems, or in improving the environment in their community. Social workers focus on social problems and the individual difficulties that arise from these social problems. These problems may include domestic violence, child abuse, unemployment, poor or no housing, disability, and serious illness. Most social workers work in organizations or agencies whose missions focus on helping people deal with one of more of these social problems in their lives.

S MBS (Semester System Program)Master of Business Studies (MBS) is a 2-year, 4 semester’s program introduced by Tribhuvan University, Faculty of Management. The objective of the MBS programme is to enable the students to work as competent managers and to meet the demand of higher level managers in organizations, particularly in the functional areas of management.

The course is highly acceptable and demanding in the business and industries, government and non government sectors, within and outside the country in the areas like accounting, marketing, finance and general management.
