Founded in 2009, Global College International (GCI) is a quality driven academic institution of higher education in Nepal. In recognition as a pioneer of global education that prepares every graduate to making a difference in career, GCI was awarded World Standardization Certification (WSC) under the International Quality Certification by the World Book of Records (WBR), London on May 20, 2020. On this very line, recognized as being the research oriented institution, European Union has selected GCI as a partner for ERASMUS + 2 Capacity Building project on entrepreneurship and sustainable tourism management research, innovation for the next three years.

Under the ownership of Professional Educators Limited-Kathmandu, the managing team of this institution consists of academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals with track-record in their field of expertise. Currently, GCI has these programs in Management: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM), Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM), and Master of Business Administration (MBA) all affiliated to Mid-West University (MU)-Nepal. The college has annexed A-level affiliated to Cambridge Assessment International Education launched at par of the international parameters that are validated as per the academic provisions of an international university for instance; Cambridge International University.

From the very inception phase, GCI has adopted the policy to deliver higher education within quality framework that should be comparable with the national and international education and research benchmarks as basic strategic priority of this institution. Pursuant to its strategic goal, GCI has advanced internal and external network systems that

play a crucial role to managing the academic programs also including a number of non-credit training courses of significance to fostering career focused professional skills of students.

Under the quality scheme, A-Level international program is delivered under Cambridge Assessment International Education as a feeder course and it supplements the intakes for the undergraduate programs; BBA, BHM, and BTTM in operation at GCI. The non-credit training packages delivered on a key intent to connect the academic programs with the professional skills consist of these listed training programs at GCI; Australian culinary training level-3, travel and tourism incubation course including air ticketing, hotel bookings, tour management, tour guide training, barista training courses, hotel management training courses including house-keeping, hospitality etiquette training, kitchen training, accounting software, data other packages designed on demand and need basis... With the integration of non-credit training packages in addition to the research and learning collaborations built across the academia and corporates and expert institutions of national and international repute, GCI assures all the scholarly communities seeking to pursue study in general management through its BBA and MBA, travel and tourism management through its BTTM and hotel and hospitality management through its BHM program best education of global standard.

Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) at GCI is a four-

year study program which trains students to work in hotel

& hospitality service industry. The course of study of this

program consists of theoretical aspects closely weaved

with practical learning. The course in general covers; Room

division, Food and beverage, Kitchen, Tourism, Hospitality,

Casino, Event planning and management. The curriculum

of BHM is designed to prepare students to enter the world

of hotel & hospitality not only as supervisory leaders nut

also the managers with a strategic approach to hospitality

business. Further, education and professional training gained

in the field of Hotel Management and Hospitality areas

enables students to become entrepreneurs in this field. It

combines management theory with hands-on core hotel

courses, professional internships

and business specialization.

The major objective of BHM

course is to develop the basic

skills of the students who will be

working in the hospitality industry

in the near future. These skills can

be related to food and beverage

preparation, food and beverage

service, front office operations,

and housekeeping operations. The

course also focuses on developing

personal and interpersonal skills

of the students. It provides the

basic knowledge in hygiene, food

safety & nutrition in line with the

international standards.

Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) Program provides

complete theoretical and practical training on hospitality

where the students learn the real-life situation to improve

skills, knowledge and competencies so as to become

successful managers and entrepreneurs. Students receive

hand-on experience and training to be able to easily handle

any department of hospitality where they can apply their

theoretical learning in real life situation. It focuses on

enhancing knowledge of business environment in national

and global perspective centrally for hospitality sector. BHM

program also encourages entrepreneurial capabilities in

students to make them effective change-agent in the field of

hospitality by nature.

Eligibility Criteria BHM program serves the needs of bright

young persons who have completed

twelve years of education and are

looking for an academic course in

hospitality profession and the related

field.

This program is open to students with

diverse educational backgrounds

including humanities, science, arts,

and management. However, given the

challenging curricula and content, BHM

is accessible mainly to those students

who have an excellent academic record

and high potential for success. Hence,

the candidates for this program are

carefully screened through a selective

admission test process.

In order to be eligible for admission, a

candidate is required to have passed

12th Standard Examination by NEB

from any stream with English as passing

subject with minimum of 45% score or

1.8 CGPA.

The eligible candidate has to pass the

entrance test to be taken by the College.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Global College International is a quality driven institution that

prepares every graduate to be knowledgeable, skilled and equipped

professional who is both ready to cope with 21st century professional

challenges and also lead the emerging business fronts that are

rapidly shifting from product to knowledge based service systems.

Within this scheme, GCI has entered into quality assurance process

and it is subject to assessment for total and continuous quality

assured in programs, their systems, processes and performance

achieved within the quality parameters as set by the University

Grants Commission of Nepal.

Guided by total and continuous quality parameters, GCI has instituted

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The IQAC is comprised of

the college executives, faculty and students of GCI headed by the

Director of the institution. The cell is authorized to make supervision

to assess on regular basis, mentor personnel, and likewise work for

the promotion of academic programs of GCI in general and set the

benchmarks on their internal operating systems, academic processes

and functionalities for quality educational outcomes in particular.

to acquire the knowledge to write a project report so that

they can prepare a report on a specific issue they are

interested in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Case Study

Case Study is a major instructional strategy for BHM at GCI.

Case method boosts learning by example model relating

to hospitality management. It allows teaching to make an

emphasis on analytical skills in students that are basic to

solving business problems in the field of hospitality sector.

Students are assigned cases relating to problem, decision,

entrepreneurial, marketing etc. issues of hospitality business.

Seminars and Conferences

GCI organizes at least one international conference along

with a number of seminars, webinars on diverse themes

of hotel management. The students of GCI in the BHM

program are encouraged to volunteer and also prepare for

conference presentations for that they have to submit their

research based papers and articles. The students in general

cases, the students are allowed to attend these events for

Internship Students are required to gain the actual work experience

through one year of structured practical training as industrial

exposure in the Seventh and Eighth semester. The objective

of the industrial training is to bridge the gap between

theoretical input and the real-life work experience in the

business world locally and globally. GCI has created a pool

of star hotels contracted through CPD on annual basis

for internship practice. The students who are required to

undertake this activity for one whole year are sent to the

selected places after training and orientations on how to

take up internship so that their involvement enables them

to extend it to job placement in the same company or

the others on completion of the program. Generally, GCI

students are encouraged to take up internship with the star

hotels of international repute. Yet, depending on students’

choice, the star hotels operating at the domestic setting

are also chosen for this activity on demand. in some cases,

students can complete internship in the hotels of their

existing employment or choose to take at a hotel which is

arranged by the college.

Research Work

BHM students together with a number other programs of

GCI are ensured of training and research apprenticeship

assigned by the concerned faculty members in their

respective areas as relevant to study and business

management relating to hospitality sector. Research in case

of BHM is a group as well as individual project followed by

report writing subject to evaluation for credit. The college

has been selected as the research partner for ERASMUS+

research and innovation program funded by European Union

which the BHM students of GCI use for research promotion

and learning.

Hospitality Sector Visits

GCI facilitates the students of BHM for field visits of

hospitality sector on annual basis. In addition to the surveys

conducted in groups, the students of BHM participate in the

visits of home stays, food lab and star dining and kitchen,

and so on. The main intent behind this activity is research

learning by means of observation, survey and analyses of the

real business fronts in hospitality within Nepal and beyond.

The participants of field visits are required to submit the

reports and make presentations in valid format.

Social Work

Social work at GCI is student initiated humanitarian program

and is conducted within the lead of social club of the college.

The Students of BHM combined with the other programs

organize different social welfare programs in order to

promote in the youth a feeling of altruism and social service.

For the systematic contribution on the corporate social

responsibility through social work, the college has endorsed

social club of students under that GCI Food and Clothing

Donation Circle (GCI-FCDC) is formed as its operating level.

Students in this circle collect clothes, food and also fund for

aid upon crises to be donated to the people or communities

under risk.

volumes of course books, magazines, references, research

journals, and papers. In addition, the library of GCI

subscribes the international data-bases that include Harvard

Business Review, Business Week, and other academic

journals and magazines in both soft and hard copy. Besides,

there are the separate student sections installed with the

desktops where students can stay from morning first hours

to late evening for study and research works that they are

required to take up for completing different types of projects

mandated in the BHM course of study.

Computer Lab

The academic program of BHM operates fully supported by

the IT system. For smart connection of academic system

of this program with the IT, the college has developed a

computer lab installed with high speed desktop computers

and laptops fully connected with 24 hours dedicated internet

and WIFI services. The computer lab is further enhanced

with the digital and online services that are dedicated to

operate the college MIS, LMS, Virtual Class helping the

daily activities and academic administrations to shape in the

learning practicalities. As a matter of fact, the computer lab

of GCI is highly equipped with smart functioning computers

and multimedia also lending an unlimited access to internet

services that connect the academic system of BHM program

with the high-tech quality. The computer lab also entails

Cafeteria

The college has annexed an open and spacious cafeteria

where the GCI students, faculty members, staff, and guest

Research Centre

Research at GCI is a core part of study for BHM program.

This core activity is managed under the direct mentorship

provided to each student by GCI Research Center. It is

management committee. BHM students in their final

Entrepreneur skill is a primary focus of GCI and it is equally

case of graduates who shall be outgoing with the degree

sessions on entrepreneurship learning are facilitated by the

successful entrepreneurs who are well known in their field of

hospitality both at the national and international level. The

Entrepreneur center of GCI also organizes entrepreneurial

talk programs, workshops and presentations as some

eminent events for BHM.

Knowledge Centre

GCI puts special emphasis upon creation of knowledge

which leads to creating skilled management personnel and

professionals who should make a difference in hospitality

businesses by being exposed to active market trends

and also practical corporate awareness. With special

emphasis on soft skills, team work, leadership skills etc., the

Knowledge Centre mentored by the full time faculty experts

extends support for learning academic skills that in general

include writing skills, book reviews, workshops, seminars,

bulletin-publication, as well as an exposure to extra-curricula

e.g. extempore, debate and more…program as some

remarkable knowledge-oriented activities BHM students

appreciate.

GCI Placement Cell

Established with a sole objective to connect students from

curricula to corporate in the hospitality sectors for practical

internship course works and also placement opportunities,

GCI has deputed a career incubation center headed by a

committee of career experts also appointed as the full time

faculty deputed to mentor the students and link them with

the job market. The center functions in coordination with

the center for professional development (CPD). It mobilizes

students for learning, career enhancement training and pro-

motion and at the same linking them with the hospitality in-

dustries for internship that is facilitated for about the time of

two semesters. The incubation center on one hand involves

students for the participation in academic and extracurricular

events of the college, career training workshops and pro-

grams in order to drool them to pursue career opportunities

beyond their theoretical course-ware. The GCI student

centers that include; entrepreneur studio, knowledge centre,

quality circle etc. all function under the facilitation of GCI

incubation center or center for professional development.
