INTRODUCTION

B.B. AVICHAL ARTS & COMMERCE COLLEGE, Mandvi, Dist. Surat.

(Gujarat State) was started in 1986 by the Saraswati Van Vidya Mandal, Mandvi

which was establishment in 1985. Affiliated to the Veer Narmad South Gujarat

University and is accredited by the NAAC with ‘B’ Grade with GPA 2.23 during 6th

& 7th

March, 2009. Our college is dedicated to tribal area, and has its motto “sa vidya

ya vibhuktan” That is knowledge that leads to salvation”

400 various colleges registered in Gujarat state. Out of 40 colleges in Surat

District our College is one and only situated in tribal area of Surat District with the

demographically demarcation of Government of Gujarat. in 2009-10.

“Education which creates understanding, enthusiasm, feeling for co-operation

and preparedness to give the help to the helpless is true and real education.” It offers

an ideal vision of education that is aware of responsive to the challenges of the

nation’s present situation.

Gujarat will enter its 50th

year on May 1st 2010. Our Mandvi College will enter

its 25th

year on October 1st 2010. All the department of the state including schools,

colleges & NGO activities have a special occasion for achieving golden & silver

peaks in the country.

Higher education department of Gujarat Government also involving in golden

jubilee celebration of Gujarat Foundation. Each & every activity of education is done

with well planning & sufficient infrastructure facilities created. The concept of

Vibrant Gujarat Covering Swarnim (Golden) theme for all. It is really a matter of

pride that The UGC, NAAC, IQAC, NKC, HRD is the pioneer of the quality

enhancement projects in higher education frequently since its establishment.

The president, the principal, the vice-principal, academic and administrative

staff, students and stake holders of this college are really happy to this IQAC/Sub-Cell

working in a nut-shell way.

VISION & MISSION OF THE COLLEGE :

Vision & Mission of the college as stated below :

(1) To provide opportunities of higher education to the youth of the tribal areas of

Mandvi.

(2) To make tribal people understand the need and value of higher education.

(3) To bring social awareness among tribal people and explain to them their rights

and duties.

(4) To make tribal people aware of various government schemers, aids and

facilities for their upliftment.

(5) To encourage tribal boys and girls to pursue studies after completing higher

secondary education.

(6) To help in the overall development of tribal youth so as to bridge the gap

between tribal and urban culture.

(7) To cater quality education in the tribal area.

Our college is open to all irrespective of cast and creed. The college has been

active in strengthening the overall development of students and tapping the potential

of tribal youth by providing in higher education and other co-curricular activities.

As a quality sustenance activity in accredited institutions and as per the

Guidance for the creation of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) from the

NAAC, Then the President Mr. R.C. Chaudhari, Principal Dr. P.M. Jalsanwala, Co-

ordinator Mr. J.I. Shah had constituted the IQAC on 30 Sept. 2009, as part of

institution’s quality assurance and maintenance system to work towards realizing the

1. Curricular flexibility to be increased by introducing job oriented

Certificate and Diploma courses.

PART-A

The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the

year toward quality enhancement and the outcome

achieved by the end of the year.

(1) Admission Procedure :

The institution publishes all details regarding its admission process in its

prospects. All admission details like eligibilities, programmes, 29 groups offered, fee

structure, scholarships etc. awarded to the students are given in the prospects of the

college.

(2) Institutional website :

The institute has its own website on which all details regarding the college

management and B.A., B.Com., M.A. scholars of last five years data, N.C.C. Sports,

N.S.S. are activities etc. are available on www.artsandcommercecollegemandvi.com.

(3) Calendar of Events :

As per University Calendar, curricular and co-curricular activities planned and

display it on the notice board for the students and submitted to staff for further action.

IQAC-Sub-cell programmes conducted accordingly.

(4) Inter-Collegiate Programme :

During 2009-10 our college students participated in various colleges of Surat

district. Patriotic song performed by Ku.Alpana Chaudhari at Vyara College. Mono-

acting performed by Shri Navnit Rathod at V.T. Chokshi, Surat and both awarded

certificates. Our cross country means team participated in the event at Bardoli College

and secured fourth rank in Swarnim Cross Country Event. Two students participated

in debate competition at Kim College. Two students registered for debate competition

at Vyara College.

(5) Curriculum Course :

Students were oriented towards new syllabi of Annual course. Teachers have

attended seminar, workshop, conference and paper reading also for up-grading their

knowledge.

(6) Field Work :

Specially educational tour were conducted by committee. This exposure made

the students to understood the subject in-situ.

(7) Inculcating human values :

In order to make our students excelled and competent ‘finished products’ the

IQAC – Sub-Cell planned to highlight the importance of values of education. Value

based seminar, life value based video film show, science of memory power seminar

arranged for the benefit of students reflect human value.

(8) Research :

The need for accelerating research activities considered by the IQAC, and

during this year Mr. R.S. Patel, lecturer have join Ph.d. in gujarati subject.

(9) Infrastructure enhancement :

(1) Construction work of new office building is under process. Which is to be

completed during the end of the vacation period in June 2010.

(2) Construction of women hostel under the U.G.C. XI plan development grant is yet

to complete during the next academic year. Due installment of grant procedured is

done intime by the college. We are awaiting further action taken by U.G.C. for the

development of the infrastructure facilities.

(3) Our college received Swarnim Gujarat Govt. grants of Rs. 65,000/- for the purpose

of placement activities of the scholars students and saptadhara activities. For the

overall development of the students.

We have planned six seminar for placement activity. Saptadhara grants were

utilized to purchase electronic equipments and value based library books.

(10) Student Support :

Scholarships to SC/ST/OBC & other students and books for all necessary

students were provided to students and students were allowed to participate in

different competition/programmes/ events held in inter class, inter colleges, inter

universities at national level also.

(11) Co-curricular activities :

The seven committees of students council 2009-10, Swarnim Gujarat College

Committee, N.C.C. & N.S.S. department organised & attended various necessary

activities in the college reflect the human values and also update the students

knowledge about the nation’s present scenario.

(12) Sports :

Various indoor and outdoor sports game activities were conducted in time in

the college ground and eligible students were deputed for college and university level

sports competitions/programmes/events.

(13) Interdisciplinary lecturers :

As per V.N.S.G.U. Surat circular that every college has to arrange

interdisciplinary lecture for faculty development programme. On behalf of faculty of

commerce they organized lecture in career guidance to students by eminent speaker

Dr. U.T. Desai.

(14) Career corner activity and placement seminar :

Apart from class room teaching career corner activity includes imparting

proper guidance on the scope of various higher courses, especially job oriented and

making available to them various job opportunities as much as possible. IQAC

considered these points seriously and accordingly constituted career corner activity

and placement seminar to take the initiative of these provisions in the college.

(15) Social commitment programmes :

IQAC felt that creating opportunities for students in tune with the social

activities of Government of Gujarat will make them move Socially committed the

N.S.S. unit of the college were proposed to organized this year a number of

community service programmes as well as extension activities. In these directions

certain programmes have been chalked out as a part and parcel of N.S.S. regular

activities including Swarmin Gujarat Celebration by Government, University, N.S.S.

Deptt. and Mandvi Nagar Palika Planning.

(16) Merit day and Annual day celebration :

Since several years, these both number of rank holders and award winners in

the college are increasing. Hence this year it is decided to organize every year a Merit

day with cultural programme to honour the top scorers and rank holders in various

degree and post graduate courses and annual day with musical celebration on the next

day.

IQAC Action Plan formulated and Sub-Cell activities allotted to faculty members and

Administration staff to achieve institution goals and objectives every year. Recommendations

given by NAAC peer team during 6th and 7

th March, 2009 is also considered accordingly for

quality enhancement of the institution.

1. Activities reflecting the goals and

objectives of the institution:

Mandvi College, Surat have web-sites. The college has

published prospects for showing admission process,

discipline rules and choice based 29 groups at under

graduate level B.A./B.Com. degree course. The various

curricular and extra curricular activities of the institution

are planned every year with a keen interest and dedication

to achieve these goals.

Objectives of quality maintenance & enhancement in U.G.

and P.G. level have been reflected in the activities

mentioned in part A and attached enclosure.

2. New academic programmes

initiated (UG and PG):

Proposal for the sanction of New Post Graduate

programmes in Gujarati are submitted to the Veer Narmad

South Gujarat University of Surat. We are happy to report

that our college has been granted P.G. Centre in Gujarati in

the next academic session of 2010-11. The semester system

applied in P.G. programmes with the effect from 2010-11

onwards.

3. Innovations in curricular design and

transaction:

Our college is affiliated to V.N.S.G.U. of Surat where

curricular design and transaction are made by the

University authorities through it BOS (Board of Studies) in

various faculties to be carried by affiliated colleges. Our

faculty members participated in syllabus framing work for

U.G. Annual system and P.G. semester system.

5. Examination reforms implemented: Examination reforms are designed by the affiliating

University which was followed and implemented in the

college. At the end of the first term and the second term

Taken students feed back randomly by faculty member in

the form of regional languages questionnaire which is

prepared in accordance with the guidelines of UGC. The

principal & the vice-principal holds discussions according

are given to faculty member for corrective measures if

required.

During this academic year we have introduced two projects

with respect to the infrastructural development. One project

regarding new office building construction work is in

progress which is to be completed during the first term of

2010-11.

Second project regarding women’s hostel construction

work is incomplete due to grant delaying under the XIth

plan of U.G.C. development programme. Necessary

communication is under process.

a active part in the historical event and

the students also enthusiastically perform

their talents in three items.

(2) Rajasthani folk dance presented by a

group of 3 cultural artists of his college

with wearing a designing dresses and

latest electronic C.D. Audio equipments.

(3) Traditional Gujarati garba is the

ornaments of the native place. A group of

14 cultural artists of this college

performing garba with more than 20

actions. It is said that the chief minister

of Gujarat is also noted this events in

golden memories.

the Swarnim function held in the town.

(1) Patriatic Song by G.S. Kalpesh Barot

(2) Child abortaion Roll play (3) Mad

rural women acting by Renuka Bhatt and

(4) Healthy discussion on Swarnim

Gujarat achievement by Chief Minister

and his team work effects for the Welfare

of the state as well as nation and

international relation created and

maintaining by them in a large manner.

All the staff & group of active students

including principal & vice-principal

remain present in both days occasion

comprehensively.

Note :

(1) MOU with higher education office, Govt. of Gujarat, Gandhinagar for the SCOPE

and Digital English language laboratory projects to be started in the next academic

year of 2010-11 and also granted P.G. Centre in Gujarati subject conducting Seminar

propels sending to UGC in the next year.

(2) The first Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC/Sub-Cell 2009-10

submitted to NAAC, Bangalore in time with the joint venture and team work of

whole IQAC works into sub-cell basis done.

(3) The institute will hope for the best academic related activities to be done in future

also.

(4) The institute situated in tribal area of Surat district consisting 1814 strength of the

students. 90% of the students belonging for tribal culture. More than 1300 students

traveled in the bus for study in the college. Ladies hostel project is under process with

the help and assistance of UGC during XIth plan scheme. College potential

excellence CPE grants by UGC is not granted by verification team of UGC but we

will be apply for the same in future.

(5) Being the accredited institute. We are happy to join with IQAC matter respectively.

We assure you that comprehensive efforts will be made to reach greater heights in the

forthcoming year.

PLANS OF THE INSTITUTIONFOR NEXT ACADEMIC

YEAR 2010-11

Semesterization of post graduate programme :

In view of the implementation of choice based credit cum semester system for

post graduate programmes, all departments held meeting to discuss the work

arrangements given by university P.G. section from the next academic year.

Scope and Digital English language lab activity :

MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) proposal with higher education office

of Gujarat govt. on scope and DELL activity at 6th

April 2010. The institution wish to

start such activity for the next academic year.

Augmenting of the Computer facility :

We have decided to expand the Computer facilities. Necessary steps to be

taken upgrading the website of the college.

Proposal for the Seminar :

We have decided to send a proposal to University Grant Commission, pune for

conducting a faculty seminar on demanding choice-based subjects core-area for the

next academic year.
