17th August, 1888.

I have the honor to bring under your notice that I have just received a letter from Arthur S. King, Esq., Stock and Station Agent, Bourke St. W., Melbourne, cautioning me against the sheep of China, Japan and Corea, which (he has been informed by a gentleman in China, who formerly worked amongst sheep and cattle in these Colonies) are suffering from a disease which he describes as very much like scurvy in the human being.

"It breaks out-he informs me-at the roots of the ears, then the mouth and nose, and then spreads over the whole body."

Tobacco and Sulphur dip is said to be the cure. I have, &c.,

EDWARD lYI. CURR, Chief Inspector of Stock.
