A NOTE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT KELLY MADGE:

We have had some difficulties recently with the newsletter. The printer who we had for many years passed away recently and his family has sold the business and it’s been relocated to San Ramon. The entire newsletter is created by volunteers who work at other jobs in the Senior Citizens Center. We try to get out an issue on a monthly basis so that our members will be informed and up to date on the happenings. With a skeleton crew and the costs involved in the printing and mailing, we might have to consider a bi-monthly or quarterly newsletter instead. We are working to keep you informed. Thank you for understanding, we have finally found a new print company to do our newsletters.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS

We are looking for a couple of

volunteers. Our Sing-a-long group is looking for someone to either

play guitar or piano. We also are looking for people to help out

with our Bread program, birthday lunch, serving monthly dinners.

We need someone with experience with computers to run

our monthly movie activity, looking for experienced office workers with good customer

service skills and knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word. If you

know anyone or you are interested, please contact the Club office at (925)687-2585

MASK UPDATE

The City of Concord and the Concord Senior Citizens Club have agreed that we strongly recommend you to wear masks in

the hallways and lobby while entering and exiting the building.

If you are a Club member and you are vaccinated, you can take the mask off in

your activity as long as the door is closed. Everyone in the room must be

vaccinated. With our general population being compromised, we want to make sure everyone feels safe while they are

here at the Center. PLEASE GET VACCINATED AND BOOSTED

CORNHOLE

Cornhole is a lawn game popular in North America in which players or

teams take turns throwing fabric bean bags at a raised, angled board with a

hole in its far end. The goal of the game is to score points by either

landing a bag on the board or putting a bag through the hole. We play indoors

and it is a great way to meet new people and exercise at the same time.

The Path to Zero COVID is in the Air – Wear Your Mask! ¡El COVID-19 está en el aire – utilice su

mascarilla! May 10, 2022: With Contra Costa and other Bay Area counties seeing a swell in COVID cases, health officials are reiterating their strong recommendation to wear masks

indoors. Omicron subvariants, which are even more contagious than the original Omicron,

are driving the recent increase in cases. Outbreaks in workplaces and schools have

also sharply increased in the past few weeks.

While masking remains optional for most public indoor settings, health officials say wearing face covering during periods of increased transmission is a simple best

practice to protect against COVID.

“There’s a lot of COVID out there right now, so it’s time to mask up indoors in public

again,” said Dr. Ori Tzvieli, health officer for Contra Costa County.

Dr. Tzvieli said people should also stay home if they feel sick and get tested. He added that people eligible for booster shots should get

one since protection from the COVID vaccines wane over time. News from CCC Health Dept.

TELLING YOUR STORY/CREATIVE WRITING

Each of us have important stories to tell about our lives, and in this

group you will have ample opportunity to share your

experiences with others. Every time we meet, we will choose a

theme that pertains to some part of our lives, and either write a short

story or recite the event from memory at the next meeting. Who

was the first person you ever kissed? What was the most

memorable trip you took as a child? There will be guest

speakers from our generation. Please come and share your

stories with us. Children’s author, June

Gatewood, will lead the group. You can call the office for more
