IN REMEMBRANCE

Before we move on to the details of the accounts/activities of the association we would

like to remember the colleagues who Ieft us during the intervening period.

Mr. suresh Luthra passed away in Faridabad on 12th Feb 2019 at the

age of 74. He was left arm medium fast bowler who played for punjab and

Delhi in 67 Ranji rrophy matches. He took 262 wickets with 14 five wickets

hauls and two 10 wickets hauls. He worked with State bank of India and after

retirement from cricket he officiated as BCCI Match referee. we pray for thepeace ofthe departed soul.

Mr. Meg Raj played for punjab, southern punjab and Delhi in Ranjirrophy

from 1958 -tg73. He played 42firstclass matches and died in Delhi on 24th

March,2O19 at the age of 78. we pray for the peace of the departed soul.

Mr. Meg RajMr. Gokul Inder Dev died at the age of g0 in Delhi. He played

in 93 first class matches for Eastern punjab, Northern punjab, Delhi and

services. He was Right handed batsman and Right arm leg break googly

bowler. In his first class career spanning from 1957 to 197g he scored 30g4

runs with 7 centuries and captured 302 wickets with 25 five wickets hauls

and five 10 wickets hauls. we pray for the peace of the depafted soul. !

Prof. Raghbir Dayal Bansal founder secretary ,of District cricket

Association of Muktsar sahib, who was also prof. of Mathematics in Govt.

college, Muktsarosahib, died in a freak accident in chandigarh in

January,2019 at a relatively young age of 52 years. He was a syndicate

member of Punjab University also. In his death, the association has lost a

dedicated worker. we pray to almighty to grant peace to the departed soul.

Mr. Gurbachan Singh Banga was one of the most senior and revered member of PCA

fraternity. He became life member of PCA after the merger of SPCA and NPCA.

He was a keen cricket administrator who actively pafticipated in the affairs of

Patiala and later on Chandigarh Cricket. He was also very handy in performing

any task connected with cricket matches particularly the International

Matches hosted by Punjab Cricket Association. His towering personality at all

such events will be sorely missed by the members. We pray to almighty to

Mr. curbachan Singh Bansa grant peace to the departed soul.

Mr. Ramesh Chander Kohli was a senior life member of PCA and he

passed away on 8.12.2018 atJalandhar. He was a senior partner in a World

Famous Sports firm Beat All Sports, Jalandhar' He was a very popular figure

amongst top cricket players like Sachin Tenduikar, Mahender Singh Dhoni and

others. We at PCA pray to God for granting peace to the departed soul.

Mr. O,D. Sharma popularly known as'OD breathed his last on 21st August,2019 at the

age of 73 after a brief illness. He was the Honorary Secretary of Bathinda

District Cricket Association for the last 35 years and also the member of the

punjab Cricket Association. He was closely associated with cricketing

activities of the minor districts of the state as their coordinator and also took

active part in deliberations of the state association during meetings. His

absence will be sorely missed. May God grant peace to his depafted soul.Mr.0.D. Sharma

Mr. Sham lal was a Former Punjab Ranji player who played Ranji

Trophy between 1956-1958 under the captaincy of Late Lala Amarnath ' He

was contemporary of Punjab Cricketers M.P Pandove, Chaman Lal Malhotra

and Lokesh Khanna. He was also the Vice -President of Ludhiana District

Cricket Association. The PCA Management mourns his sad demise and prays

to God to grant peace to the departed soul.Mr. Sham Lal

, Mr. Jugal Kishore Garg had been life member of long standing and passed

away on 17th July 2019. The PCA management condoles the sad demise and

prays to God to grant peace to the depafted soul.

have the pleasure and privilege of trophy. The Punjab U-16 team could not clear the

The year under report has been very

productive for the association on and off the field.

The association organised matches at senior and

junior levels for age groups tournaments through

the inter district competitions so that the best

talent of the state was available for selection for the

state team to take part in the inter-state national

tournament. There has been lot of emphasis on

fitness for which various periodic fitness camps

were held at IS Bindra PCA Stadium Mohali and

Dhruv Pandove stadium Patiala before the start of

the National domestic season. Our senior team

playing in the elite Group of RanjiTrophy and was in

running for the knock out berth till their last match

against Bengal. The match was drawn and Punjab's

hopes of making it to the knock out stage were

shattered. In the one day Vijay Hazare tournament

the team once again failed to make it to the knock

out stage. In the T-20 tournament for Syed

Mushtaq Ali trop.hy we failed to qualify for the super

league. Our first success came in the U-23 Col CK

Nayudu trophy which we won by 1 lryicket by

defeating Bengal in a cliff hanger at Dhruv pandove

stadium Patiala. In the;U-23 one day tournament

Punjab lost to Vidarbha in the semi-finals. In the U-

19 Cooch Behur trophy Punjab could not reach the

knock out stage. The team also failed to make it to

the knock out stage in One day u-19 Vinoo Mankad

Our U-19 women team made it to the

quafter finals of one day tournament. In the T-20

women U-19 qualified for the super league. In the

U-23 one day tournament for women the team did

not qualify. In U-23 T-20 team qualified for the

super league. The senior women team failed to

qualify in One day tournament where as the senior

T-20 team became the National Champions.

15 Punjab players represented various

franchisee teams in IPL 12 namely Harbhajan

Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Gurkirat Singh, Mandeep

Singh, Siddharth Kaul, Manan Vohra, Sandeep

Sharma, Shubman Gill, Barinder Sran ,Mayank

Markande, Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh,

Harpreet Brar, Prabsimran Singh and Anmolpreet

Singh.

Shubman Gill player of our state was

selected to represent India in ODI tournament in

Newzealand while Siddharth Kaul represented

India in T-20 against Australia. Anmolpreet Singh

was selected for India-A against Srilanka and West

Indies.

Tanya Bhatia women cricketer of our state

represented India in T-20 and one day tournament.

Harmanpreet Kaur captained the India women

team in T-20 International matches,

PCA received best ground award for IpL-12.

This has been result of year round hard work by the

staff.

Singh, and Mapreet Singh Garewal retired from all

forms of the game during the year under report.

The association wishes them a pleasant retired life

and the very best in the 2nd innings of their

respective careers. The association is also

beholden to them for the good work as players

while donning the state colours

Born on December 12th 1981 in

Chandigarh Yuvraj made rapid strides as a young

southpaw getting into the big league through the

U-19 world cup in which he represented the

country in 1999. He caught the fancy of the fans as

soon as he made his ODI debut at Nairobi

Gymkhana on October 3 2000. His Test debut came

against Newzeland at his home ground Mohali in

October 2003 while his T-20 debut was against

Scotland at Durban in Sept 2007

As a middle order left handed batsman he

turned out many sterling displays for his country

and later on his slow left arm spinners came very

handy at crucial moments in the matches. He

became the most feared batsman in One day and

T-20 cricket and has the sole distinction of hitting

six consecutive sixes off the bowling of England

fast bowler Stuart Broad in a world cup encounter.

RETIREMENT OF INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS OF PCA

Yuvraj Singh

His tenacity was in full flow when despite a life

threatening disease affecting his lungs. He went on

to help India win the

2011 world cup with his

the man of the series

award.

In the Indian Premier league he was one of

the highest paid stars who played for six

franchisees. The worthy scion of test player Yograj

Singh the contemporary of legendary Kapil Dev,

nally hung up his boots on 10th June 2019 after

having played 40 test matches, 304 ODI, 58 T-20

matches, 139 First class matches, 423 List –A

matches and 231 T-20s. He played his last test

against England at Kolkata in December 2012. Last

ODI against West Indies in June 2017. Last T-20

against England at Bengaluru in Feb 2017. Making

his rst class debut in 1996-97 he played his last

rst class for Punjab against Bengal at Kolkata in

January 2019. Made his List-A debut in 1999

played his last List-A match for Punjab against

Karnataka in October 2018. His retirement has

brought down curtains on illustrious career of a

Punjab player.

VRV Singh born on September 1984 at

Chandigarh and played for India U-19,India and

Punjab as a right arm medium fast bowler. The

strappling fast bowlers career was plagued by his

back injury which forced an early retirement. A

gentleman cricketer he represented Punjab in 29

Ranji Trophy matches and captured 121 wickets

with the best bowling of 7 for 75 with 10 ve

wickets haul and two 10 wickets hauls. In 37 list A

matches he captured 55 wickets and in 33 T-20

outings he took 31 wickets. He made his test debut

against Westindies in June 2006 and played his last

test against Bangladesh in May 2007. In 5 test

matches he captured 8 wickets and also

represented the country in 2 ODI’s. He made his

ODI debut against England in Jamshedpur. His

Ranji debut was

against UPCA at

and his last Ranji

match against J&K

in January 2014. He

made his Debut in one day against Himachal in

January 2014 and played last match also against

Himachal in March 2008. He made his T-20 debut

against Haryana in 2007 and the last T-20 match

against Baroda in 2012. The Association wishes

him the very best in his future endeavours.

played for Punjab as a right arm medium pacer in

2008 and played last match against Karnataka. His

last T-20 match was against Railways in March

2019. He also played in IPL for different

franchisees in different seasons. He retired from all

forms of cricket in June 2019. The Association

wishes him best of luck in his future endeavours.

PCA hosted the India- Australia one day

Match on 10th March at IS Bindra PCA Stadium

Mohali. Australia won the match by 4 wickets in a

thrilling nish. Ashton Turner of Australia was

named player of the match. Captain Virat Kohli

won the toss and opted to bat rst. India opened

with its seasoned pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar

Dhawan who raised 193 runs partnership in 31

overs at more than run a ball. The partnership was

broken when Rohit Sharma was snapped by

Handscomb off right arm fast bowler Richardson 5

short of his century 95 off 92 balls studded with 7

boundaries and 2 sixes. Shikhar Dhawan in the

mean while continued to milk the Australian

bowling and was nally castled by Pat Cummins for

an exhilerating century 143 off 115 balls spiced

with 18 boundaries and 3 lusty sixes. Skipper Virat

Kohli perished early being caught by wicket keeper

Alex Carey off Richardson for 7. Rishab Pant 36 and

Vijay Shankar 26 were the other contributors with

the bat. India innings ended at 358 for 9 in 50

overs. Pat Cummins 5 for 70 and JA Richardson 3

for 85 were the most successful bowlers for

Australia.

Replying Australia scored 359 for 6 in 47

overs to record a 4 wickets win. Australia innings

was anchored by U T Khwaja 91 off 99 balls,

century by P S P Handscomb 117 off 105 balls with

India Opener Shikhar Dhawan celebrating his century against Australia at Mohali

8 boundaries and 3 sixes and AJ Turner’s late

assault with unbeaten 84 off 43 balls with 5

boundaries and 6 huge sixes setting the stands

ablaze and carving out a fascile win for Australia. J.

Bumrah 3 for 63, Bhuvnesh Kumar 1 for 67,

Kuldeep Yadav 1 for 64 and Y. Chahal 1 for 80 were

the successful Indian bowlers

India-Australia One Day Match in progress

Seven home matches of Kings XI Punjab

were played at IS Bindra PCA stadium Mohali. The

rst match against Mumbai Indians was played on

30th March 2019 which was won by Kings XI

Punjab by 8 wickets . Mumbai Indians scored 176

for 7 in 20 overs with Quinton D Kock 60, Rohit

Sharma 32 and Hardik Pandya 31 being the highest

run getters. For Kings XI Mohd. Shami, Hardu

Vijyon and Murgan Ashwin scalped 2 wickets each.

Replying Kings XI scored 177 for 2 in 18.4 overs

with KL Rahul remaining unbeaten on 77 and he

was supported by Chris Gayle 40, Mayank

Aggarwal 43. Krunal Pandya 2 for 43 was the most

successful bowler for Mumbai Indians.

Punjab’s next encounter with Delhi

Capitals played on 1st April 2019 was won by Kings

XI Punjab by 14 runs. Kings XI Punjab scored 166

for 9 in 20 overs. David Miller 43, Sarfraz Khan 39

Sharma scalped 2 for 21 while S. Kaul and Rashid

Khan got 1 wicket each. K. L Rahul was named as

Kings-XI then took on Royal Challengers

Bangaluru on 13th April 2019 at IS Bindra PCA

Stadium Mohali. The match was won by Royal

Challengers by 8 wickets. Kings XI scored 173 for 4

in 20 overs. Chris Gayle remaining unbeaten on 99

and Mandeep Singh unbeaten 29 being the main

run getters. For Delhi K Rabada and S Lamichane

scalped 2 wickets each while Chris Morris took 3

wickets. Delhi Capitals were bowled out for 152 in

19.2 overs. Rishab Pant 39, Collin Ingram 38,

Shikhar Dhawan 30 being the main run getters. For

Kings XI Sam Curran 4 for 11 and R. Ashwin and

Mohd Shami 2 wickets each were the most

successful bowlers.

The Kings XI took on Hyderabad Sunrisers

on 8th April 2019. Hyderabad Sunrisers scored 150

for 4 in 20 overs with David warner remaining

unbeaten on 70. Mujib Rehaman, R Ashwin and

Mohd Shami scalped 1 wicket each. Kings XI

Punjab scored 151 for 4 in 19.5 overs. K.L Rahul

wickets. Batting rst Kings XI managed 183 for 6 in

20 overs. Nicholas Pooran 48, Mayank Aggarwal

36 and Sam Curran unbeaten 55 were the main run

getters. S Warrior 2 for 31 was the main wicket

taker for Kolkata Knight riders. Replying KKR

scored 183 for 3 in 18 overs. Shubman Gill

unbeaten 65, Chris Lynn 46 being the main run

getters. M.Shami, R Ashwin and Andrew Tye

scalped 1 wicket each.

The last encounter at PCA stadium Mohali

for the IPL season was played on 5th May 2019

between Kings XI and Chennai super Kings. Kings

XI won by 6 wickets. Chennai batting rst scored

170 for 5 in 20 overs. F du Plesis 96 and Suresh

Raina 53 were the principal run getters for Chennai

super Kings. M. Shami 2 for 17 and Sam Curran 3

for 35 were the main wicket takers for Kings XI.

Replying Kings XI scored 173 for 4 in 18 overs. KL

Rahul 71 Nichlos Pooran 36 being the main run

getters for KXIP.

Punjab were drawn in pool-B along with

Himachal, Andhra Praesh, Tamilnadu, Kerala,

Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengal, Madhya Pradesh. The

Ranji trophy matches were played on home and

away basis. Punjab started their campaign on 1st November against Andhra Pradesh at Vizag.

Andhra Pradesh won the toss and put Punjab into

bat. Punjab scored 414 in 156.2 overs. Punjab’s

innings was sustained by a maiden ton 110 by

Sanvir Singh and useful knocks by Shubman Gill 56

skipper Mandeep Singh 68, Gurkirat Singh 41 and

Mayank Markande unbeaten 63. For Andhra B

Ayappa and KV Sharma scalped 3 wickets each

while DP Vijay Kumar and Soib Mohd captured 2

wickets a piece. Andhra in reply made 423 in 158.5

overs led by a big hundred by Ricky Bhui and useful

knocks by KS Bharat 76, S Sumanth 54 and Shoib

Khan 52. Mayank Markande Right arm leg spinner

5 for 129 was the most successful bowler for

Punjab. Andhra took the vital rst innings lead to

garner 3 points while Punjab got 1. Punjab in their

2nd essay were 102 for 2 in 33 overs when the

match ended. Shubman Gill unbeaten 54 and

Anmolpreet Singh 32 were the principal run getters

for Punjab.

Punjab’s 2nd match against Madhya

Pradesh was played at Holkar Stadium Indore from

20th November 2018. Punjab won the toss and

elected to bat but could muster only 293 in 84.4

overs. Opener Jiwanjot Singh hit a patient century

124 off 216 balls with the help of 15 boundaries.

Other notable contributions came from Gurkirat

Singh 66, Abhishek Sharma 41. KR Sain 5 for 62

and Avesh Khan 4 for 77 were the most successful

bowlers for Madhya Pradesh. Replying Madhya

Pradesh scored 318 in 124.2 overs. Naman Ojha

Punjab lost to Maharshtra by 94 runs on

23rd Sept at Just Cricket Ground Bengaluru and

ended up without any point. Batting rst

Maharshtra scored 281 for 5 in 50 overs with

unbeaten century by AR Bhawane 100 and

supporting knock by N S Shiekh 60, RA Triphati 28,

A PAlkar unbeaten 46. Manpreet Garewal and

Mayank Markande scalped 2 wickets each. In reply

Punjab were bundled out for 187 despite an

opening stand of 52 runs with Manan Vohra 27 and

Shubman Gill 36. SS Bachav 5 for 54 was

instrumental for Punjab debacle.

Next match against Baroda was washed

out at Bengaluru with both teams splitting 2 points

each.

Punjab then took on Mumbai at Just cricket

Punjab took on team Utrakhand in the

quarter nals at Dhruv Pandove stadium Patiala

from 12th January and won the match by an

innings and 406 runs to move into the semi-nals.

Batting rst Team Utrakhand was bowled out for

160 in 43 overs. Vijay Sharma 60 being the highest

run getter. For Punjab Arshdeep Singh and Ikjot

Singh scalped 3 wickets each while Harpreet Brar

and Akul Pandove got 2 wickets each. Replying

was the highest run getter. Replying Punjab

hammered 447 in 105 overs with Ramandeep

hitting run a ball century 138 ably supported by

Anmol Malhotra 57, Mansab Gill 97 and Himanshu

Sharma 41. Gujarat in their 2nd knock were

bowled out for 240 in 71.3 overs with Rahul Shah

76 and MA Hengarajia 87 being the principal run

each. Punjab won by an innings and 42 runs to

enter the nals of the tournament.

Punjab won the Col CK Nayudu trophy for

U-23 by ekking out a one wicket win over Bengal to

whom they had lost in the league stage. The

narrow 1 wicket win was a testimony to the keen

competition between the two teams, while Punjab

had lost to Bengal at Kalyani in the league stage,

they reversed the trend on their home base Dhruv

Pandove stadium Patiala on 4th February. Winning

the toss and opting to bat rst Bengal made a

disastrous start with their three batsman failing to

open their account before Shubam Chatterjee 64

and Ritwick Roy Choudhary 43 stemmed the rot by

putting on 105 runs for the 4th wicket, Agniv Pan ,

Arif Ansari 29 were the two other notable

contributors with the bat as Bengal batsman

slumped to the guiles of left arm spinner Harpreet

The initial jolts being given by medium pacer

Punjab into bat who were however bowled out for

Malhotra 55 were the main run getters. For

Uttrakhand the bowling honors were shared by

Pundir 3 for 33, Pradeep Chomali 3 for 19 , Agrim

at Rajiv Gandhi stadium Hyderabad on 12th March

The next league match was played at

Gandhi grounds Amritsar where Punjab chose to

bat rst after winning the toss against Haryana.

Nehal Wadhera hit a brilliant century 125 studded

with 19 boundaries and 5 sixes and ably supported

by Yuvraj Choudhary 69 off 62 balls with 8

boundaries and 4 sixes and Anshul Choudhary 42.

Punjab were bowled out for 318 in 102.3 overs. For

Haryana Neeraj Rathi 4 wickets, Naman Bansal

and Bhuwan Rohilla 3 wickets each were the most

successful bowlers. Replying Haryana were bowled

out for 148 in 65.4 overs. Spinner Amit Shukla 4 for

Haryana collapse. Following on Haryana were 170

2018. Jharkhand won the toss and elected to bat

riding on Sahil Raj’s 108 runs knock aided by

Shresth Sagar 55, Jharkhand scored 329 in 96

overs. Amit Shukla 6 for 104 and Arjun Pappal 3 for

61 being the most successful bowlers for Punjab.

Punjab's Misery continued as Karanatka batsman

led by Luvneet Sisodia and Rohan Naikar put the

hapless attack to sword by putting on 159 runs

partnership for the 2nd wicket. Luvneesh Sisodia

later helped by Anish KV 46, Samran R 68 and

Venkatesh M 42 to enabled Karnatka to declare

their 1st innings at 516 fo9 in 136.3 overs. Luvneet

Sisodia completed a match winning double century

Rajasthan was played at Kl Saini stadium Jaipur

from 21st January, which was won by Team

Rajsthan by 6 wickets and got the home side 6

At Jaipuria Viadhalya Ground Jaipur.

Punjab lost to Delhi by 3 runs in a closely contested

match. Delhi were restricted to 86 for 7 in 20 overs

with Arti Dhama and Simrandil Bahadur scoring 22

each. For Punjab Sunita Rani and Rajni Devi and

Kanika Ahuja took 2 wickets each. Punjab could

manage 83 for 8 in 20 overs with Ridhima Aggarwal

remaining unbeaten on 51. Simran Bahadur and

Ayusha Sohni scalped 2 wickets each.

Punjab lost their next match against

Bengal by 28 runs. Bengal batting rst scored 103

for 7. Tanushree Sarkar 37 being the highest run

getter while Sunita Rani 4 for 15 was the most

successful bowler.Punjab in reply were 75 for 9 in

20 overs. Shreya 4 for 15 did most of the damage

for Bengal.

In the last super league match Punjab lost

to Vidarbha in the 1 over eliminator. Batting rst

Punjab were 94 for6 in 20 overs with Ridhima

Aggarwal 30 and Priyanka Malik unbeaten 21 being

the main run getters. For Vidarbha MS Budhke 2 for

12 was the most successful bowler. Replying

Vidarbha also ended on 94 for 5 in 20 overs. DD

Kasath 37 and SW Dharney 25 being the main run

getters. Sunita Rani 2 for 14 was the most

successful bowler for Punjab. In the eliminator

over Vidarbha scored 14 without loss with LM

Inamdar unbeaten 11. Punjab in reply could

Punjab started their campaign in women

U-19 one day tournament against Baroda at

Reliance cricket stadium, Vadodra. Baroda won the

toss and put Punjab into bat. Punjab were bundled

out for 178 in 49.2 overs. Kanika Ahuja 64 was the

highest run getter for Punjab. Pragya Patel 2 for 29

while R Patel 1, T Chokshi 1, J Mohite 1 and Rathod

Janki 1 shared the spoils. Replying Baroda scored

179 for 5 in 47.5 overs and garnered 4 points while

Punjab got 0. For Baroda Hrutu Patel unbeaten 89

was the main run getter. Parul 2 for 29 was the

main wicker taker for Punjab.

Punjab played their next match against

MPCA at GSFC cricket ground, Vadodara. Punjab

won the match by 4 wickets and garned 4 points

while MPCA got 0. MPCA won the toss and elected

to bat rst. While batting rst MPCA were bundled

out for 130 in 46.1 overs. Sanjana Awase 27 and

Anshan Patidar 25 were the main run getters for

MPCA. Parul 2 for 13 and Shabnam 2 for 12 were

the main wicket takers for Punjab. Replying Punjab

scored 131 for 6 in 47.2 overs. Skipper Kanika

Ahuja 26 and Pragati 29 were the main run getters

for Punjab. Soumya and Shashi Kala scalped 2

Punjab played their 3rd match against

Jharkhand at GSFC cricket Ground , Vadodara.

Punjab won the toss and chose to eld. Jharkhand

batting rst were bundled out for 147 in 50 overs.

Jaya 28 and Payesh Goel 25 were the main

Punjab defeated Chattisgarh by 4 wickets

to garner 4 points at Alembic Ground Vadodra.

cricket stadium Vadodra to garner 4 points. Batting

rst Punjab scored 205 for 4 in 50 overs Srishti

Rajput 38, Gazala Naaz 57 , Kanika Ahuja 42,

Anjali 42 were the main run getters for Punjab.

Hyderabad were skittled out for 64 in 35.2 overs.

Ramanpreet Kaur 6 for 13 and Parul 3 for 7 doing

most of the damage for Punjab.

Punjab got better of Mumbai by 6 wickets

at Ambelic ground Vadodara to garner 4 points.

Mumbai batting rst were bowled out for 136 in 47

overs. Achal Valunja 42 being the highest run

getter. Pragati Singh 4 for 36 ,Parul 3 for 17 were

the most successful bowlers for Punjab. Replying

Punjab’s winning spree was halted by

Bengal at GSFC cricket ground Vadodara when

they beat Punjab by 91 runs. Bengal batting rst

scored 208 for 8 in 50 overs with Santhia Biswas

51, Kashish 34 and Mamta unbeaten 38 being the

main run getters. For Punjab Pragti Singh 3 for 34

and Parul 2 for 39 were the main wicket takers. In

reply Punjab were bundled out for 117 in 42.3

overs. Kanika Ahuja 61 was the most successful

run getter for Punjab. M. Mandal 4 for 24 was the

most successful bowler for Bengal.

Punjab qualied for the knock out but lost

to Mumbai by 5 wickets at Tanush Academy

Dehradun. Batting rst Punjab scored 164 for 9 in

50 overs with Amanjot Kaur 58 and Kanika Ahuja

40 being the principal run getters for Punjab. For

Mumbai the bowling honors were shared by Syali

Satgare 3 for 24, JR Powar 3 for 31 and Priyanka

Interstate U-19 T-20 tournament was

played at Guntur from 14th Oct-23 Oct 2018.

Punjab were pitted against Hyderabad, Andhra,

Gujarat, Sikkim, Meghalaya and Tamilnadu and

cleared the league stage to qualify for the super

league thereafter Punjab on 26th October defeated

Odisha and Himachal in the super league at

Vijayawada and lost two next matches against

Assam and Uttar Pradesh and made their exit from

the tournament. For Punjab Amanjot Kaur 343

runs with one century and 2 half centuries with

highest score unbeaten 121, Kanika Ahuja 124

runs with highest score 43, Srishti Rajput 102 with

highest score 42 were the most successful batters.

In the bowling department Parul 8 wickets, Nandini

sharma 8 wickets and Kanika Ahuja 8 wickets were

the most successful bowlers.

INTER STATE WOMEN U-19 YEARS T-20 TOURNAMENT

8 districts participated in tournament

which was played at various venues of the state.

The matches were played as per BCCI tournament

rules. The schedule of matches is attached as per

annexure 1.The matches till the semi-nal stage

were of three days duration while the nal was four

days duration. The tournament was held from 17th

April to 10 May 2018. The semi-nals were played

between Mohali VS Patiala and Amritsar VS

The final was played between Amritsar vs

Patiala on 7-10 May 2018. patiala won the toss and

opted to field first. Batting first Amritsar were

bundled outfor L62in 91.1overs. Sandeep Nishad

51 and Sumit Pal Singh were the main run getters

for Amritsar. For patiala Vanshish 3 for 33 and

Harjas 3 for 58 shared the spoils. In reply patiala

were 235 all out in L20.4 overs. Divyansh Garg 79

with 7 boundaries and Arshad euersehi 49were

the main run getters for patiala. For Amritsar

Fatehdeep 3 for 97 was the main wicket taker.

Amritsar in their 2nd innings were 274 dl out in

114 overs and set a target of 205 for patiala.

COACHING CAMPS

In its effort to keep junior and senior

cricketers (men & women) of the state in a high

state of tness the association organized off

season camps before the start of the National

Championships for various age groups. The camps

were organized at I.S. Bindra Stadium PCA Mohali,

Dhruv Pandove Stadium Patiala, Gandhi Ground

Amritsar, Burlton Park Jalandhar and Barnala

under the supervision of PCA qualied coaches and

trainers.

New International Cricket Stadium at Mullanpur

(New Chandigarh)

In view of the changed requirements for

hosting International matches with the latest state

of the art facilities including proper and adequate

parking, the association started the work on the

new International Stadium at Mullanpur (New

Chandigarh) on 16 January 2017 in an area

measuring 41.3 acre Approx. The new stadium will

have seating capacity of 32500 which would also

see a sizeable increase of prime seats in the

pavilion area. The stands, players pavilion,

corporate pavilion and south pavilion have been

planned keeping in view the latest international

requirements for players, public and both print and

electronic media. The parking facilities of around

1650 vehicle will be a big attraction and also two

grounds including the main ground for hosting

International and National matches. When

completed it will be a star attraction for the people

of Punjab and adjoining area. PCA hopes to host

the International and IPL matches in the new

stadium during the 2019-20 season. Seventy

percent of the total work of the stadium stands

completed.

The Teej festival which is very prominent

amongst the ladies in North India was celebrated

by the Lady Members of the Club in the Banquet

thHall with great pomp and show on 04 August,

Apart from this, club celebrated the following festivals during the year under report.

TEEJ FESTIVAL

2018. Ladies dressed in traditional Punjabi outts

participated and danced to the tunes of Punjabi

folk songs.

KARVA CHAUTH

The Karva Chauth festival is a one-day

festival celebrated by Hindu women four days

after Purnima (a full moon) in the month of

Kartika. The traditional festival was celebrated by

the Lady Members of the Club in the Glass House

especially in Northern India, married women fast for their husband's safety and longevity.

The post Deepawali celebrations were

ndorganized on 02 Decemeber,2018. A Bumper

Tombola was organized for the members and their

guests in the Main Ground of PCA in which

attractive Prizes/gifts were given to the winners. A

lavish spread of sumptuous snacks, beverages

were made available and live music was the star

attraction of which was appreciated by the

members and their guests.
