REPORT OF THE HONORARY SECRETARY, PCA
Respected President, Colleagues & Members,
ndIt is indeed a great pleasure in presenting the 72 Annual Report of the Association. This year has been a mixed fortune as far as cricketing achievements are concerned. During the year, the Punjab Under-16 Team had performed commendably and was Runners-up of the National Championship for Vijay Merchant Trophy, Punjab Senior Team qualified for knockout in One day limited overs tournament but lost in Quarterfinals and the Punjab U-19 Women Team in One Day Ltd. Overs Tournament qualified for knock out stage, while no other Team was able to qualify for the Knock-out Stage Matches.
However, the individual brilliances shown by various Punjab Players during the year are worth mentioning. Mr. Mandeep Singh, Punjab Senior Team Captain was the highest run getter for the State scoring 696 runs with 2 centuries and 4 half centuries. Mr. Siddharth Kaul plucked 27 wickets for 385 runs with three 5 wickets haul. Mr. Shubman Gill has barged into Indian Test Team. Ms. Harmanpreet Kaur Captained India Women Team and Ms. Taniya Bhatia represented India in Women T20 World Cup. Further, 12 Punjab Players had represented various Franchisee Teams in IPL T20 Tournament.
The emphasis during the Training Sessions was on physical fitness and providing scientific training to the Punjab Players. The services of an expert Physiotherapists were also provided to the Team.
The Players who had shown the glimpse of excellence provided the opportunities and 9 players made their debut in the Punjab Senior Team, which participated in the Ranji Trophy during the year under Report.
The year has also experienced one of the worst Pandemic, which brought whole of the World to a standstill. However, we all have to collectively build a new PCA. As the Socrates very rightly said: -
''the secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.''
The Punjab Senior players had undergone Coaching Cum Practice camps, after relaxation of Covid-19 guidelines, under the watchful eyes of Mr. Yuvraj Singh. The inputs provided by Mr. Yuvraj Singh and coaching team are proving beneficial for the Punjab senior team participating in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well as for Mr. Shubman Gill who is representing India in Australia.
I have no doubt that under the able guidance of the President and active participation of the Colleagues, we would be able to make PCA one of the best Associations in the Country in terms of game, administration and providing of cricket infrastructure throughout the State. I wish to place a record my sincere thanks to our President and Colleagues, who were always there to support during the difficult times of pandemic.
I would also like to thank all affiliated member Associations for smooth conduct of various tournaments. We also place on record our sincere thanks to all the employees of the Association, who had provided unstinted support for smooth functioning of the Association.

INDIA VS SOUTH AFRICA T-20 INTERNATIONAL MATCH 18 SEPTEMBER,2019
PCA had hosted the 2nd T-20 match of the Series against South Africa on 18th September,2019. After a washout in Dharamsala, India got their home season underway with a comfortable win in Mohali, against a new-look South Africa side that didn't quite show the depth of resources to genuinely challenge them. It was a full house which saw India won by 7 wickets with six balls remaining.
After winning the toss and elected to field first, Team India restricted the visiting South Africa at 149 for 5 in allotted 20 overs. The Main contributions with the bat come from De Kock 50 off 37 balls with 8 fours, Bavuma 49 off 43 balls with 3 fours and 1 six, Miller 18 off 15 balls with one six and Pretorius not out 10 with one six. The Team India bowlers who performed creditably to restrict South Africa were D. Chahar 4-0-22-2,

INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE (IPL) 2020
Arshdeep Singh celebrates Sunrisers Hyderabad's wicket in match 43 of IPL 2020 in Dubai
Year 2020 was a difficult year for mankind with the relentless spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The IPL was rescheduled from its original start date of March 29, before a window opened up for the event to be held in the UAE.
thInaugural contest of the IPL's 13 edition at Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Stadium, that pitted defending champion Mumbai Indians and last year's runner up Chennai Super Kings, dished out a last over climax with the latter stunning the former. lay-off from the game and the attendant rust was evident, while the artificial crowd sound infused into the live telecast, reflects these fraught times of empty stadiums and bio-bubbles. Because of the constraints imposed by the virus and the cancellation of domestic cricket in India, the IPL at the Emirates, has turned out the season opener for the national players while also offered an opportunity to overseas stars. Eight teams played 60 matches in 53 days across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. The final was played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals and Mumbai was the champions.
The House franchisee Kings XI Punjab team had played 14 matches and out of them they lost 7 matches and won 7 and garnered 14 points
