REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES

New standard W12 on Flight Control Primary Computer (FCPC) 2K2 hardware has been defined mainlyin order to prevent aircraft abnormal behavior in case of erratic Air Data/Inertial Reference Unit (ADIRU)outputs.

This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A340/500-600 aircraft of the issue ofAIRBUS OPERATIONS S.A.S. Service Bulletin No. LA2K2-27-013.

This Service Bulletin recommends either replacing the existing FCPCs with hardware 2K2 by FCPCswith hardware 2K2 and new standard W12, or modifying the existing FCPCs with hardware 2K2into new standard W12 by means of On-Board Replaceable Modules (OBRMs) as per AIRBUSOPERATIONS S.A.S. Service Bulletin No. LA2K2-27-013.

New software standard W12 on FCPC 2K2 hardware has been defined to take into account the lastFCPC software evolutions. The main FCPC improvements are:

- Improvement of aircraft behavior in case of erratic ADIRU outputs.

- Improvement of the Ground Spoiler (GS) and Partial Lift Damping (PLD) logics.

- Improvement of aircraft behavior in case of two consistently erroneous Angle Of Attack (AOA)information: limitation of Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer (THS) at pitch up.

- Or replace them as described in TASK 275051-831-802 001 Modificationby replacement of the three FCPCs (FINs 2CE1, 2CE2 and 2CE3) as perAMM.

To accomplish this Service Bulletin it is necessary to :

G. MANPOWER

The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost todo the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do notinclude the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of partsand tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also notincluded.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Task 275051-831-801-001 - Modification of the three FCPCs (FINs 2CE1, 2CE2 and 2CE3) byreplacement or reprogramming of their OBRMs as per AIRBUS OPERATIONS S.A.S. ServiceBulletin No. LA2K2-27-013.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE WARNINGS AND ALL THE CAUTIONSINCLUDED IN THE REFERENCED PROCEDURES.

CAUTION: ALWAYS OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW TO KEEPELECTRICAL WIRING IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION (ELECTRICALLYAND MECHANICALLY SERVICEABLE). WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCEWORK, REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS, ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICAL WIRING,COMPONENTS AND THE WORK AREA AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. TO DOTHIS:

(a) Before replacement or reprogramming of the OBRMs:

1 On the FLT CTL section of the overhead panel 241VU (212VU), make surethat PRIM 1 (PRIM 2) (PRIM 3) pushbutton switch(es) is (are) pushed (theOFF and FAULT legends of this (these) pushbutton switch(es) are off).

2 Do the Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) test of the Electrical Flight ControlSystem (EFCS) (Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) IDENT) (Refer to AMM Task27-96-00-740-807), and make sure that the old P/N of the FCPCs are correct(Refer to AIRBUS OPERATIONS S.A.S. Service Bulletin No. LA2K2-27-013).

NOTE: Print the LRU IDENTIFICATION page (if printer is not available, avisual check is acceptable).

3 Open, safety/lock and tag the circuit breakers specified as per removalof the FCPCs (FINs 2CE1, 2CE2 and 2CE3) (Refer to AMM Task27-93-34-000-801).

4 Replace or reprogram the OBRMs on the three FCPCs (FINs 2CE1, 2CE2and 2CE3) as per AIRBUS OPERATIONS S.A.S. Service Bulletin No.LA2K2-27-013.

5 Remove the safety clip(s) and/or tag(s) and close/unlock the circuit breakersas per installation of the FCPCs (FINs 2CE1, 2CE2 and 2CE3) (Refer to AMMTask 27-93-34-400-801).

(b) OEB cancellation:

1 On aircraft equipped with OEB REMINDER function, if the ElectronicCentralized Aircraft Monitoring (ECAM) warning has been flagged asdescribed in OEB 41 (formerly OEB 89/5 up until 2011), the following codesshould be deleted from the Flight Warning Computer (FWC) database.

(a) After replacement or reprogramming of the OBRMs:

1 After power-up, on the FLT CTL section of the overhead panel 241VU(212VU), make sure that the PRIM 1 (PRIM 2) (PRIM 3) pushbutton switch(es)is (are) pushed (the OFF and FAULT legends of this (these) pushbuttonswitch(es) is (are) off).

If a FAULT is present, do a reset with the concerned pushbutton switch.If FAULT persists, replace the concerned computer (Refer to AMM Task27-93-34-000-801 and AMM Task 27-93-34-400-801).

2 Do the BITE test of the EFCS (LRU IDENT) (Refer to AMM Task27-96-00-740-807) and make sure that the new PN of the FCPCs are correct,(Refer to AIRBUS OPERATIONS S.A.S. Service Bulletin No. LA2K2-27-013).

NOTE: Print the LRU IDENTIFICATION page (if the printer is notavailable, a visual check is acceptable).

3 Do the BITE test of the EFCS (SYSTEM TEST) (Refer to AMM Task27-96-00-740-802).

4 If the airline operates the aircraft in CAT 3 conditions, do the LAND CAT IIIcapability test (Refer to AMM Task 22-97-00-740-801).
