This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A330 aircraft equipped with Trent 700 engines of the issue of ROLLS-ROYCE Service Bulletin No. RB211-78-AH677 which inspects the TR. This Inspection Service Bulletin instructs a Special Detailed Inspection (SDI) - electrical conductivity Non-Destructive Test (NDT), and further detailed inspection and A-scan ultrasonic inspection of possible heat damage in the 6 o’clock beam. This Service Bulletin also includes acceptance limits, repair actions and replacement criteria. Accomplishment of this Inspection Service Bulletin will enable an early detection of 6 o’clock beam overheat and will contribute to avoid an extended maintenance operation. This Inspection Service Bulletin will ensure the structural integrity of the Trent 700 TR unit C-duct. The Operational/Maintenance Consequences of this Service Bulletin are covered by the update of the affected publications detailed in ’PLANNING INFORMATION’. REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES

Airbus has received some reports of Trent 700 Thrust Reverser (TR) unit C-duct which have beenfound with evidence of thermal degradation on the lower structural beams (6 o’clock beam) in the rearareas (latches 5, 6 and 7).

This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A330 aircraft equipped with Trent 700engines of the issue of ROLLS-ROYCE Service Bulletin No. RB211-78-AH677 which inspects the TR.

This Inspection Service Bulletin instructs a Special Detailed Inspection (SDI) - electrical conductivityNon-Destructive Test (NDT), and further detailed inspection and A-scan ultrasonic inspection of possibleheat damage in the 6 o’clock beam. This Service Bulletin also includes acceptance limits, repair actionsand replacement criteria.

Accomplishment of this Inspection Service Bulletin will enable an early detection of 6 o’clock beamoverheat and will contribute to avoid an extended maintenance operation. This Inspection ServiceBulletin will ensure the structural integrity of the Trent 700 TR unit C-duct.

C. REASON

(1) History

Airbus has received some reports of Trent 700 Thrust Reverser (TR) unit C-duct whichhave been found with evidence of thermal degradation on the lower structural beams (6o’clock beam) in the rear areas (latches 5, 6 and 7).

(2) Objective/Action

This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A330 aircraft equipped withTrent 700 engines of the issue of ROLLS-ROYCE Service Bulletin No. RB211-78-AH677which inspects the TR.

This Inspection Service Bulletin instructs a Special Detailed Inspection (SDI) - electricalconductivity Non-Destructive Test (NDT), and further detailed inspection and A-scanultrasonic inspection of possible heat damage in the 6 o’clock beam. This ServiceBulletin also includes acceptance limits, repair actions and replacement criteria.

(3) Advantages

Accomplishment of this Inspection Service Bulletin will enable an early detection of 6o’clock beam overheat and will contribute to avoid an extended maintenance operation.This Inspection Service Bulletin will ensure the structural integrity of the Trent 700 TRunit C-duct.

(4) Operational/Maintenance Consequences

The Operational/Maintenance Consequences of this Service Bulletin are covered by theupdate of the affected publications detailed in ’PLANNING INFORMATION’.

SB Reporting status

The SB Reporting policy is published in ISI 00.00.00135. This document provides information regarding:the SB Reporting means and benefits, the update of customized Maintenance Products and customizedFlight Operations Products.

If this Service Bulletin has an operational impact, refer to paragraph "Flight Operations Products" forfurther information on the update of affected Flight Operations Products.

SB Reporting procedure

Standard practice to report SB is to use the online reporting application on AirbusWorld.
