Public Health, Government of

Maharashtra

CII Maharashtra organised a meeting with Dr

Pradeep Kumar Vyas, Additional Chief

Secretary, Public Health, Government of

Maharashtra on Wednesday, 7 July 2021 to

discuss ways to effectively manage the third

wave of the pandemic. Mr B Thiagarajan,

Chairman, CII Western Region & Managing

Director, Blue Star Ltd and Mr Sudhir

Mutalik, Chairman, CII Maharashtra and

Metering Pumps (I) Pvt Ltd attended the

meeting. The Chairman of the Special

Taskforce on Third Wave Mr R Seshasayee,

Past President, CII and Executive Vice

Chairman, Hinduja Group also joined the

meeting.

Dr Vyas mentioned that the major challenge

faced in the second wave was the shortage

in supply of oxygen as cases peaked due to

the inability to augment production capacity

in a short span of time. During the meeting,

Dr Vyas requested industry support in

ramping up the oxygen production,

manufacturing of oxygen cylinders and

logistics support for supplying of oxygen. On

the vaccination front, he requested private

hospitals to purchase their full quota of

vaccine doses and also ensure that doses

available with private hospitals are fully

utilized. He also urged industry members to

pick unutilised doses from private hospitals.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive

to the development of India, partnering industry, Government, and civil society, through advisory

and consultative processes.

For 125 years, CII has been working on shaping India’s development journey and, this year,

more than ever before, it will continue to proactively transform Indian industry’s engagement in

national development. CII engages closely with Government on policy issues and interfaces with

thought leaders to enhance efficiency, competitiveness and business opportunities for industry

through a wide portfolio of specialized services and strategic global linkages.

With the Theme for 2020-21 as Building India for a New World: Lives, Livelihood, Growth, CII will

work with Government and industry to bring back growth to the economy and mitigate the

enormous human cost of the pandemic by protecting jobs and livelihoods.

India's premier business association has more than 9100 members, from the private as well as

public sectors, and an indirect membership of over 300,000 enterprises from around 288 national

and regional sectoral industry bodies. With 68 offices, including 10 Centres of Excellence in India,

and 8 overseas offices in Australia, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Singapore, UAE, UK, and USA,

as well as institutional partnerships with 394 counterpart organizations in 133 countries, CII

serves as a reference point for Indian industry and the international business community.
