Pleasewritedowndetailsofmedicalinformation/problemswhichmayaffectlearning,aswellas

anyparental/custodyarrangements.SchoolDonations&PaperChargefeescanbemadeatthe

office.Anenrolmentformcanbedonepriortotheir5thbirthday(wesuggestwhenyoucomein

foryourpre-schoolvisit).

We suggest that you and your child make at least two

morning visits to school prior to your child starting. This

givesyourchildtheopportunitytobecomefamiliarwiththe

environmentandtosocialisewithpeers.Yourchildwillbe

encouragedtojoininwiththeclassactivity.

Wealsoregularlyhave‘Funin1’onFridayafternoons.Seeourwebsitefordetailsorcontacttheschooloffice.

AtFirthweprovideallofourlearnerswithfreestartupstationery.However,eachclassmayrequesta

fewextraitemstohelpyoulearner,askattheofficeforthislist.

PleasemakesurethatyourchildhasaLARGEschoolbagthatisnamedon

theinside(foryourchild’ssafety)andcanbeeasilyopenedbythechild.

Pleasenameanyitemofclothing/footwearthatyourchildislikelytotake

offaswellasallswimwearandtowels.

PMP isacoordinationprogrammeforournewentrantchildrenthat linksphysicalmovementto the

brain. This programme helps develop their motor skills through a series of sequential movement

activitiesusingspecialisedequipment.

• Initiallyyourchild’sreadingwillconsistofsayingthealphabet,learningthealphabetnamesand

soundsandreadingsimplebooks.

• Readingbooksarenot necessarilybroughthomeeverynight.Readingmay sometimesbea

poem,astorywrittenbyyourchild,aworksheet,oralibrarybookforyoutoreadandshare

withyourchild.Pleaserememberthatreadingtoyourchildisveryimportant!Don’teverstop!

• Eventuallyyourchildwillprogresstowards1and2linesoftextperpageintheirreaders.

• Abookmaycomehomemorethanoncetoestablishfluency,orreinforceanecessaryskill.

• Atthisearlystage,discussionaboutthepicturesandmakingconnectionsareimportant.

TherearetwoadventureplaygroundsforourFirthchildren.Weaskallchildrentowearshortswhen

playinginthesandpitandiftheyareplayingoutonthemainfield–especiallyinthewintermonths

whenthedewisheavy.Thisistoensurechildrenarewarmanddrywhenintheclassrooms.

Sunhatsmust beworn during terms 1 and 4when the sun is at its strongest (our School provides

sunhats).

track.Eachchildisfittedwiththeirownhelmet

so they are set to enjoy the 61 bicycles we

provide for our learners. The bikes are also

availableforlunchtimeuse.
