My approach with this population

Getting to the point where students are open to being challenged can be difficult

Meet them where they are

Most students can only think of food: so I use that as a hook as much as possible

Other "hooks": music, art, sports

(Anything that could be considered distracting)

Why dough?

Ag science lesson: I have students who were recently placed on gluten-free diets.

I forgot to take pictures, but we did enjoy a lot of food and students are now open to eating gluten-free food
