ABSTRACT

Azma, Muaddib Ulil. The Environment Damage Level Caused by Mining

of Group C Mining Materials in Ponorogo Regency.Thesis, Department of

Geography, FIS State University of Malang. Supervisor: (1) Drs. Sudarno

Keywords: environmental damage level, mining, group C mining materials

Ponorogo have a potential of group C mining materials. The potential of

group C mining materials in some districts have been mined. The mining has been

done by the people around the scope of mining location by open pit mining

method. Mining activities using open pit methods caused environmental damage

such as damage to the body of the soil. The soil damage caused loss of plant

growth place and also caused vegetation loss. Based on the problem, research

about damage level caused by mining of group C mining materials must needed.

This study aims to determine the extent of environmental damage caused

by mining activities in the group C mining materials, existing mining locations in

Ponorogo. Based on environment damage level, it can be explained about what do

increase and decrease the environment damage level.

This study is a survey research with descriptif analysis. Method of this

research using a survey method. The population is 14 location of group C mining

materials. Samples were taken by using purpossive random sampling method.

There are six locations were selected as sample, three locations in the District

Jenangan, two locations in the District Ngebel, and one location is in the District

Pulung. Kind of data is primery data n secondary data that obtained by

observation, metering, and documentation. The data of environmental damage

level taken by survey than analyzed using scroing method. Scoring performed on

each variable of damage levels. Variable of environmental damage level in

question is mining speed, depth of rock excavation, wide pits, base relief

differences excavation, nature of the rock climb constituent, slope of rock

excavation, management of top soil and overburden, cover of vegetation, and

reclamation efforts.

Based on results of this study showed that five mining location of group C

mining materials in Ponorogo have a high category of environmental damage

level and one locations have medium category of environmental damage level.

Mine location qualifies as a moderate level of environmental damage is in

location III, Ngrogung, District Ngebel. Mine location qualifies as a high level of

environmental damage is in location I, Pomahan, District Pulung; location II,

Tanjungsari, District Jenangan; location IV, Ngrogung, District Ngebel; and

location V and VI, Kemiri, District Jenangan.
