Archbishop Catholic Appeal
Most past contributors to the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal will receive a mailing from Archbishop Sample within the next few days. Appeal funds are used to help fund Archdiocesan offices and agencies that assist the parishes and their peo-ple. In addition, part of the funds are used to assist retired archdiocesan priests and seminarian education. The theme of the 2018 Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal is “Three Journeys, One Destination.” As you consider the amount you can pledge to help these ministries, please reflect on the following: Contributing to the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal is to journey with others toward Heaven. Take a moment to honestly examine all the God-given blessings in your life and then ask not yourself, but ask God: “What is just?” By our baptism and our confirmation in the Catholic church, each of us is called to serve as a good shepherd. We’re called not only to follow Christ but to be Christ. Please pray for the Lord’s guidance as you consider the above reflections, and please give generously according to the blessings God has given you. Easter Basket for St. Vincent De Paul Have you ever had an Easter Basket? It probably had colored eggs and candy, maybe a chocolate rabbit. This year St. Vincent de Paul Society would like you to think about the Easter Basket as a way to prepare for Easter by filling a basket for people who need your help. It could be the biggest Easter basket you ever prepared. Here’s how it works. On Ash Wednesday put a basket in your kitchen and add something every day during Lent. When you add a food item to the basket say a little prayer for the person who will get it at Easter. This way you are sacrificing something every day, preparing your soul for Easter. Each member of your family can help to fill the basket. The basket will be full and ready to deliver by Good Friday. Bring your filled basket to church between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. You could add a chocolate rabbit now. St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry thanks you for helping our clients. Canasta de Pascua para St. Vicente de Paul ¿Alguna vez has tenido una canasta de Pascua?
