tried. They cast lots about it and the lot fell on the sausage whowas to carry wood, the mouse had to cook and the bird was tofetch water.

What happened? The little sausage went out towards thewood, the little bird lit the fire, the mouse stayed by the pot and

(5)waitedalone until little sausage came home and broughtwood for the next day. However, the little sausage stayed so long

on the road that they both feared something was amiss and thebird flew out a little way to meet him. Not far off, however, he met

Pilandok and Sabandar(Maranao)

The Cat and the Witch

Once upon a time there was a wicked witch. One day, thewitch saw a stray cat walking down the street. She thought,I could take that cat to my house and make her play tricks onpeople. The cat went up to the children. The little girl said, What
