Always stay coolAlternative cooling systems "Cold-Plate"and external heat sink technologyIn addition to the standard cooling technologydesigns,all SK500E invertersarealsoavailableasCold-Plate and external heat sink technology. Inthe Cold-Plate variant, the standard heat sink isreplaced by a flat cooling flange. To transfer theheat from the inverter, the flange is mounted onasurfacecooledbye.g.water,airoroil.Importantadvantages here are the reduction in installationdepthoftheinverterbyapprox.35mmto119mmandimprovedheatdissipation.Withtheexternalheatsinktechnology,anextrudedheat sink is supplied as an optional module andmounted on the Cold-Plate unit. The inverter isinstalledintheelectricalcabinetwiththeheatsinklocated outside the cabinet so that a large partof the heat to be dissipated is transferred there.This reduces the cooling requirement of thecabinet – air conditioners and fans can becorrespondinglysmallerorcompletelyomitted.
ATEX compliant drive systems for increased safetyTested and certified combinations of SK 500Einverters and NORD motors with increasedsafety are available. In cases where typically,pressure-resistant encapsulated motors need tobe used for inverter operation, a combination ofexplosion-protected motor and NORD SK 500Efrequency inverter can be used. This results in aconsiderablesavingofcosts.Theweightandpriceofsuchadrivepackageiscompetitivewhencomparedtothemotorperformanceandthereforeoffersanefficientsolution.

Drive electronics produced in-house
NORD Electronic DRIVESYSTEMS, a subsidiary ofGetriebebau NORD in Bargteheide, has had aproduction facility in Aurich since 1984. At theend of 2005 the new factory in Aurich / Schirumstarted operation. Here, 110 employees producedrive electronics such as frequency inverters,decentralised drive technology and servocontrollers. The products are produced for salethroughout the world by Getriebebau NORD.
The production process is divided into two mainsections.ThefirstistheproductionofPCBs.Electroniccomponentsaremountedonaboard/PCB,solderedandsubjectedtoafunctionalinspection.Withthis,thestartingmaterialforthesecondstage,thefinalassembly,iscomplete.Thefinalassemblyendswiththe corresponding inspection of the device. Thenthefinishedproductsaresentfordispatch.Thestrategyofgreatdepthofproduction,coupledwithmodernandefficientproductionmethodshasagreatinfluenceonthedeliveryperformance,whichatpresentis98%.Standardfrequencyinvertersaresuppliedfromstock.
