The Uttar Pradesh government had ordered an inquiry into the inci-dent after outrage.
“We were told that even the Chief Minister cannot get oxygen, so start discharging pa-tients. Modi Nagar is dry. We started coun-seling families. Some were willing to listen but the others said they would not leave. I said ok let’s do a mock drill.

Piloting ‘away’? Rebellion 2.0 on cards for Congress?Aditi Nagar
New Delhi: They say patience is a virtue, but politics and patience do not really go hand in hand. And when the ‘re-sult’ of a ‘battle’ hangs in balance for the past ten months, there are bound to be murmurs of yet another ‘rebel-lion’. Now with unlock-ing process starting in the state as covid infec-tion in going down, the internal strife betwen the Gehlot-Pilot camps appears to be ‘unlock-ing’ yet again!
After the rebellion of
the Sachin Pilot camp last year, the camp has started protesting once again as the much awaited report of the three-member Concilia-tion Committee formed by the Congress high command is not yet ‘re-ceived’. Keeping silent on the issue for nearly a year, former Deputy CM and PCC Chief Sachin Pilot has expressed his displeasure over non-fulfillment of the prom-ises made to him.
In an interview to an English daily, Pilot has reminded the high com-mand of the 10 months
old promise. Pilot has openly expressed his displeasure and said that it has been 10 months and the prom-ises made to him have not been fulfilled.
“I was explained that the conciliation com-mittee would take ac-tion expeditiously, but half the term is over and those issues are still unresolved. It is un-
fortunate that the work-ers who worked day and night and put their all to bring the party to power are not being heard,” he said. Earlier, Pilot had said on April
14 that there was no rea-son for the delay in meeting the resolution of the committee.
He said that Ajay Maken’s committee could not even do any-thing. “Committee mem-ber Venugopal is also a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan but he has not visited Rajasthan for six months. While Maken kept coming to Ra-jasthan and kept on tell-ing the dates of political appointments but the committee is inactive for 6 months and the issues could not be resolved even after 10 months,”
Pilot has said. Now an important
question arises in all this scenario as to what will be the next step of Pilot. Will he speak bluntly to the high command or adopt some other way?
Pilot’s statement has come at a time when one of his supporters, Hemaram Choudhary, has resigned on May 18 over the issue of ne-glecting development works in the area. Two days ago, Pilot camp MLA PR Meena praised CM Ashok Gehlot but later said that he was with Pilot. Turn to P8

Even the chairmen of various committees were appointed only af-ter the order of the Ra-jasthan High Court. The letter mentioned issue of garbage collec-tion and tussle erupting out of it. Jaipur: Upping the ante against the Congress government on suspen-sion of JMC Greater Mayor Dr Somya, BJP leaders and workers on Tuesday held statewide protests wearing black bands and raising anti-government slogans.
The protests were held while maintaining Covid-19 protocols.
“Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot always talks about morality and democracy but the recent decision to sus-pend the Mayor and three councillors re-flects that there is a dif-ference in what they say and what they do,” Poo-nia said. He said that suspending the mayor and three councillors shows the state govern-ment’s vengeance.
“BJP has today pro-tested against undemo-cratic and dictatorial decision across the state,” he said.
Poonia said that this is the first time that the misuse of Section 39 of the Municipal Act has happened in the state.
This is clearly the an-ger and fury of the Con-gress. BJP got a big mandate in Jaipur greater municipal cor-poration polls and since then CM is angry. The chief minister convert-ed an ordinary alterca-tion between officers and public representa-tives into criminal cas-
es, which is unfortunate, shameful and undemo-cratic, Poonia said. Dur-ing the protest held out-side BJP state head-quarters, party state general secretary (org) Chandrashekhar, Lead-er of Opposition Gulab-chand Kataria, Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod, for-mer State President Dr. Arun Chaturvedi, Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra and other leaders were also present.

WILL WOUNDS OF BOSNIA EVER HEAL?
ot many would re-member the Bosnian war, or Balkan war, which lasted from 1992-95 between Ser-
bia and Bosnia, parts of the erstwhile Yugoslavia. Few would remember Bosnian Serb army leader Ratko Mladic. The war, fought among Orthodox Christian Serbs, Muslim Bos-nians and Catholic Croats, be-came infamous for the mass killings of Muslims. It came to be regarded as the worst ethnic cleansing in Europe after World War-2. It was Mladic who was accused of orchestrating the killing of thousands of Muslim men and boys after segregating them from their female kin at Srebrenica in July 1995.
Mladic faced trial for his hor-rific crimes. The trial at the In-ternational Criminal Tribunal for the erstwhile Yugoslavia in The Hague began in 2012. Mlad-ic, the butcher of Bosnia, was sentenced to life in prison in 2017 but he appealed against the verdict which was dismissed on Tuesday. For thousands of wom-en who lost their sons, brothers, husbands and fathers the ver-dict should act as a salve.
N
his must be the first of its kind sting operation against drug ma-fia and crime
syndicates which led to the arrest of hundreds of drug mafia and criminals across nearly a dozen countries. The raids also led to the re-covery of tons of drugs, a huge cache of arms and large amounts of cash. More importantly, the global string using a messaging app helped prevent several murders from being com-mitted. The operation led jointly by the American Fed-eral Bureau of Investigation and Australian police, in-volved several countries of
the world and is being hailed as a “watershed moment”. The operation involved in-vestigating agents secretly distributing encrypted de-vices with ANoM chat appli-cations among criminals. Australian police said 12,000 of these devices were used by around 300 criminals in
over 100 countries. All of these chats were monitored by the police.
This knockout punch dealt by the police of several coun-tries will send crime syndi-cates reeling in several of these countries and help bring down organized crime. The full list of countries tak-ing part is not yet known but the operation probably left out drug cartels in Asia where they are very strong. The feasibility of similar joint operation in any of the Asian countries will always be in doubt for various rea-sons. For instance, Pakistani agencies use drug money to fund terror in the region. In-dia’s most wanted, Dawood Ibrahim, who is living under the protection of ISI, is said to be one of the world’s big-gest drug mafia.
To cleanse the society of dangerous criminals the world needs more such oper-ations.

he best, although not the eas-iest, thing that any of us could do — be it going through the distressing pangs of the on-going COV-ID-19 scourge, or post-COV-ID-19 uncertainty — is mak-ing, not just attempting, a persistent and firm effort to-wards good, also optimal health and wellness. Besides, we should listen attentively to our body signals and im-prove the quality and depth of our conscious attentive-ness.
Put simply, we should learn to unlock ourselves from meaningless observa-tions and apprehensions. To realise this position isn’t easy, because we’ve to focus on our intuitive and intelli-gent mind with better judg-ment, foresight and sensitiv-ity. This holds the key to take us to a new plateau — and permit us to untangle our-
selves from our ‘invented’ emotions and dispositions. It will also propel us to under-stand ourselves as spiritual beings — not just a corporeal body with a mind and soul. The rest is pictured reality — when our sense of self-consciousness inflates, it ‘lifts’ us to a higher level of consciousness. Call it mind-ful, mystical, spiritual, or celestial, awareness — or, what you may.
Such awareness, or mind-fulness, is the most persua-sive therapeutic entity that exists within each of us. It supplements and drives eve-ry function and process of our body. It ‘ups’ our normal healing processes with a gush of curative energy that directly influences every bit of illness. This leads to noth-ing short of easing our anxi-eties and fear of illness — while signalling the swelling stimulus for our expanding spiritual consciousness that embraces everything in us. This includes our thoughts, tissues, cells, or anything that you’d connect to — with-in us and outside of us. It mirrors our conviction too — not just a feeling, but a rev-
elation that each of us has in full measure. For our own and also everyone’s good.
When you place them all — spiritual awareness, con-sciousness of being, the di-vine context, or mindfulness — in one hamper, they repre-sent our whole conscious ex-perience. Of each of us being the personification of all our contemplative thoughts that take place in our mind vis-à-vis the self — including the ‘divine entity’ in us. This ap-pears simple on the surface; but, it is actually profound, also intense. This is because
no matter the quantum of our life experiences, there are certain thought process-es that are just fleeting. They are also ephemeral; not abid-ing. It is only when we under-stand the steady state of our conscious awareness — our inner self — that our con-scious responsiveness be-comes enduring, also percep-tible, as it were. This is not just spiritual unity, but also our ‘invisible’ connection with the divine.
We all need a relentless, long-term sense of aware-ness — this helps each of us to reach the most profound level of our unconscious self. This is, of course, not as easy to achieve as it may sound. The reason being — what we knowingly experience, or ap-preciate, as the divine is clearly limited to our uncon-scious self, including the pe-rimeter of our thoughts and feelings from deep within and from the inside out. What is also significant is far be-yond a specific point — we ought to surrender to the ‘di-vine in us’ to take the next step. Once this happens, we rise above the monotonous and attain a lasting state of conscious awareness — one that is in complete sync with the cosmos, or the universe. Our subsequent progress is predictable. As the divine in us takes the initiative, it helps us to surmount most challenges of everyday life through our own conscious awareness.
The advent of such a state occurs through transforma-tion — where the divine ele-ment expands. To know it from the inside out is not simple, because transforma-tion does not illustrate itself in a form we’d, perhaps, un-derstand. One possible, or useful, mode of knowing what is what, as it is, is through self-awareness. When the self gets enhanced and connects with the divine, you get a feeling that the di-vinised self is all there to feel and emote.
It is not that one should be clued-up to separate the chaff of the self from the di-vine grain, miss the plot, while surpassing the com-monplace. Well, if one were extremely receptive and humble to the point of being self-effacing, it would all ap-pear like a ‘big leap’ forward for the ‘divine in us’ — a state of breathtakingly surging spiritual experience. This is something you’d describe in-tensely and also just as ar-ticulately — as you’d want to — while breaking new ground and achieving a re-laxed, harmonious state in the deep recesses of your mind, body and soul.

WOMAN SEEKS VACCINATED GROOM, THAROOR REACTSNew Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is famous for his eloquence, vocab-ulary and how he faces his opponents in debates, but he can be funny too. For instance, on Tuesday, the MP tweeted what ap-peared to be a matrimo-nial advertisement. In the advertisement, a woman sought an alliance with a man of her faith but,
she has already received both doses of vaccine and was looking for a potential groom, who was also vaccinated like her. “Vaccinated bride seeks vaccinated groom! No doubt the preferred mar-riage gift will be a booster shot!? Is this going to be our New Normal?” Mr Tharoor captioned the picture.
SUNIL CHHETRI SURPASSES LIONEL MESSI’S TALLYNew Delhi: Indian football talisman Sunil Chhetri has surpassed Argentina’s global superstar Lionel Messi to become the second-highest active international goal-scorer with 74 strikes. The 36-year-old Chhetri achieved the feat with his brace against against Bangladesh in the joint preliminary qualifying round match for 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup on Monday night. The seasoned striker, who helped India register their fi rst win, now stands only behind Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo (103).
DEATH TOLL RISES TO 62 IN PAKISTAN’S TRAIN ACCIDENTKarachi: The death toll in Monday’s train collision in Pakistan’s Sindh province rose to 62 on Tues-day, according to media reports, even as the Op-position parties demanded an immediate probe into the reasons for one of the country’s worst train accidents. At least 62 people were killed and over 100 others injured in the twin accidents between Reti and Daharki railway stations where eight carriages of Millat Express derailed just before Sir Syed Express rammed into them near Dharki, a city located in the Ghotki district.

An MEA release stated that the External Affairs Minister is taking this trip at the invitation of Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister and Min-

Cong demands Parl Session to discuss Covid vaccine policy
New Delhi: The Centre should clarify in Parlia-ment its policy and roadmap for providing COVID vaccines to all by December, the Con-gress said on Tuesday, as it alleged that the government was driven by headlines and not deadlines and asked why people still have to pay for the jabs at pri-vate hospitals.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said all Indians should get free vaccination for COV-ID-19 and there should be no mandatory regis-tration on the CoWIN
app as there are many who do not have digital access. The party also demanded transparen-cy in the allocation of vaccines to the states and a Parliament ses-sion for discussing the policy and approval to fresh budgets required for vaccinating all.
Ramesh said there should be no discrimina-
tion in vaccine distribu-tion and the government should follow the princi-ple of cooperative feder-alism. “This govern-ment is headline-driven and not deadline-driv-en,” Ramesh said at an online press conference, asking the government to come forth with its policy and roadmap to-wards increasing inocu-
lations and achieving the objective of provid-ing vaccines to all by De-cember 2021.
Training his guns on the prime minister, he alleged, “The PM was sleeping and woke up from ‘’kumbhakaran ki neend’’ (deep slumber) after the Supreme Court intervened and reprimanded the gov-
ernment”.After Prime Minister
Narendra Modi an-nounced on Monday that the Centre will pro-vide free vaccines to states for inoculation of all above 18 years of age, the Congress had said that the govern-ment was only acting on what the party had been insisting on.
Govt hopeful of holding Monsoon Session: Joshi
New Delhi: The gov-ernment is hopeful that the Monsoon Session of Parliament will begin on its normal schedule in July, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pral-had Joshi said on Tues-day amid the second wave of COVID-19.
Since the pandemic began, three sessions of Parliament were cur-
tailed and the winter ses-sion last year had to be cancelled. Last year, the Monsoon Session, which usually starts in July, had begun in September. Sources said the modali-ties of holding this year’s Monsoon Session are still being discussed. “I am hopeful that Parlia-ment session will be held as per its normal sched-
ule starting in July,” Mr. Joshi told PTI.
The authorities are confident of holding the session in July it-self as most of the par-liamentarians, staff members of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariats and other stakeholders have re-ceived at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine.

New Delhi: Spurred to an extent by India import-ing medical goods from China to combat the deadly second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, trade between the two neighbours soared by more than 70% year-on-year to over $48 billion in the fi rst fi ve months of 2021, China’s customs data showed on Monday. Calling it a “spectacular growth”, Chinese state media interpreted the increase in bilateral trade as a sign of resilience.
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has directed Delhi Police to provide protection to a witness in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl matter that led to the death of wrestler Sagar Dhankar. CEC Chandra writes to Law Minister PrasadNew Delhi: Chief Elec-tion Commissioner Su-shil Chandra has writ-ten to Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad request-ing for expedited action on the electoral reform proposals pending with the government, in-cluding the one which seeks an enhanced two-year jail term for those furnishing incorrect information in their poll affidavit.
“I have written to the law minister to expe-dite these proposals and hopefully they will be taken up early by the ministry,” Chandra told PTI.
Enhancing the impris-onment period for those furnishing incorrect de-
tails in poll affidavits from existing six months to two years is a key elec-toral reform proposal of the Election Commis-sion. A two-year jail term could bar the candi-date from contesting elections for six years. “The present six-month imprisonment does not lead to disqualification,” lamented Chandra.

I Cut Off..We will find out who will die and who will survive. So we did that at 7 am. A mock drill was done. No one knows. Then we iden-tified 22 patients. We realised they would die. This was done for 5 minutes. They start-ed turning blue,” Arinjay Jain, the own-er of Paras Hospital, can be purportedly heard saying in the one and a half minute audio clip from April 28.
The hospital also has a Covid facility within its premises.
In a statement to the
media, Agra District Magistrate Prabhu N Singh claimed there was no death due to lack of oxygen on that day the alleged video was recorded.
However, he said, “We have filed a case against them under the Epidemic Diseases Act. The police will conduct an investiga-tion. The hospital is being sealed. All 55 pa-tients are being shift-ed out.”
Earlier, in a state-ment, Singh had said, “Initially, there was some panic and short-age but we sorted all that out in 48 hours. In
this hospital, there have been seven Covid deaths on the 26th and 27th of April.
There is no truth that 22 people died but we will carry out an inquiry.
“Vaccine Waste...in the centre-states tug-of-war over supply of vaccines and slow pace of vaccinations.

“Not Like...The Center is expected to take positive deci-sions on pending is-sues. I thank the Prime Minister. There was no political obsession any-where. We are satisfied with the meeting. The Prime Minister will definitely take further action on these ques-tions.”
Uddhav Thackeray had also asked for 10 minutes of face-time with PM Modi, sources say. On his separate meeting with the PM, Mr Thackeray re-marked: “We may not be politically together but that doesn’t mean
our relationship has broken. I didn’t go to meet a Nawaz Sharif. So if I meet him (PM) separately in person, there is nothing wrong with it.”

FOLLOW COVID-19 PROTOCOLS TO AVERT FUTURE WAVE: GOVTGovt stressed on avoiding large gatherings for a couple of months New Delhi: The gov-ernment on Tuesday stressed following COV-ID-19-appropriate be-haviour to avert any future wave, even as it noted that there has been a continued and sharp decline in daily new coronavirus cases in the country.
In a joint press brief-ing on the pandemic situation, Health Minis-try Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said almost 79 per cent decline in daily new COVID-19 cases has been noted since the peak on May 7.
There has been a con-tinued and sharp de-cline in daily new cases, he said on the second wave of COVID-19.
India reported 86,498 coronavirus cases, the lowest in 66 days, and 2,123 deaths, according to Health Ministry data on Tuesday.
On May 7, the coun-try saw a record 4,14,188 new coronavirus infec-tions.
Agarwal said India has reported 20,822 cor-onavirus cases and 252 deaths per million pop-ulation, which is among the lowest in the world.
The government stressed on following COVID-19-appropriate behaviour till the popu-lation is vaccinated, to avert any future wave.
The government also stressed on the need to avoid large gatherings for a couple of months even though states have announced relaxations in lockdown guidelines in view of the declining number of cases.
‘Continued and sharp decline in daily cases’New Delhi: There has been a continued and sharp decline in daily new coronavirus cases in the country, the government said on Tuesday. In a joint press briefi ng on the pandemic situation, Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agar-wal said almost 79% decline in daily new COVID-19 cases has been noted since the peak on May 7. NCR residents head to Agra for vaccinationNew Delhi: Strug-gling to book slots for COVID-19 vacci-nation in their cit-ies, many in the 18-44 age group from Delhi-NCR are trav-elling long distanc-es to Agra & Meerut in Uttar Pradesh to get their 2nd dose of vaccine. The short-est distance be-tween Agra & Delhi is 224 km while Meerut is 232 km from Agra. Mool-chand Medcity, Agra started vacci-nating people in the 18-44 age group four days ago. Of the 450 people inoculated so far, 40 per cent of the beneficiaries came from places like Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Meerut, Eta-wah and Mathura.
No evidence proves 3rd wave will impact kids: AIIMS chiefNew Delhi: Dr Randeep Guleria, the director of Delhi’s All India Insti-tute of Medical Scienc-es (AIIMS), said on Tuesday that there is no evidence to suggest that the next wave of Cov-id-19 will cause serious infection in children. “I don’t think we will have a serious infection in children in the future,” said Guleria during a press briefing of the Un-ion ministry of health and family welfare.
Guleria said data col-lected from both the Covid waves showed that neither new vari-ants nor the old ones caused severe infection in children. “No data, global or Indian, has had any observations of children being af-fected more. Even in the
data from second wave kids who were infected had mild illness or co-morbidities,” he said. “In many parts of the
world where new waves are happening there’s no data to show chil-dren are being severely affected,” he added.

BJP’S WARD-WISE PROTEST
‘Assault on any officer can’t be justified’
First India Bureau
Jaipur: Chief Whip
Dr. Mahesh Joshi has
said that developments
on the Mayor issue is
not a BJP-Congress
fight. “The BJP is mak-
ing it a fight between
two parties and giving
it a political colour
while the truth is that
assault on any officer cannot be justified in
any way. It is not a
proper conduct and the
guilty have not even
apologised.” “Consti-
tutionally it is not
proper to beat the ad-
ministrative officers
like this, and immedi-
ate action was neces-
sary in this matter,
which was taken. This
is not a party issue, so
we were not consult-
ed,” Joshi said.

Jaipur: In a surprise
move on the issue of
suspension of JMC
Greater Mayor Dr
Somya, the state gov-
ernment issued an or-
der late on Monday
night and handed over
the charge of mayor to
Sheel Dhabhai, the BJP
councillor and the
chairman of finance
committee. Dhabhai is
considered to be from
Vasundhara Raje camp.
It may be recalled
that Dhabhai was con-
sidered a strong con-
tender for the post of
Mayor, but Dr Saumya
was chosen in her place.
A visibly happy
Dhabai, on the suspen-
sion of the mayor,
Dhabhai said, “Some-
times there is sadness,
sometimes happiness
but the Congress made
me an acting mayor in
a democratic way, I re-
spect that.” However,
she did not give any
response even on the
question of Mayor get-
ting a stay from court.
This hints towards the
bitter rift between Dr
Somya and Dhabhai.
Earlier on Monday, a
list of JMC councillors
representing women
OBC criteria reached
the Local Self Govern-
ment Department and
the selected names
were sent for examina-
tion to the Law Depart-
ment for judicial ex-
amination of the mat-
ter under section 39 of
Municipal Act.
Meanwhile, ex-may-
or Dr Somya while talk-
ing about her said, “We
will approach the court
and will definitely get
justice from there.”
There was jubilation in Sheel Dhabhai’s family after her name
was declared as acting mayor of Jaipur.

Jaipur: Congress MLA Ved Prakash Solanki on Tuesday made serious alle-gations against Minister Subhash Garg saying that he is stalling the works of SC-ST in the gov-ernment. Also on Tuesday, Solanki met PCC Chief Go-vind Dotasara.
A Sachin Pilot camp supporter, Solanki asks why Tikaram Julie and Bhajan Lal Jatav are not included in the committees. The MLA belonging to SC category said that power should be decentralised. Solanki pointed out that there is no cabi-net minister from Dalit class, while reiterating his sup-port to ‘Pilot Sahab’.

Udaipur: A rare white snake was spotted in Udaipur city. The rep-tile belonged to the rat snake family and its en-tire body was white. Ex-perts said this happens because of absence of pigmentation in the body that leads to par-tial or full white colour.
The snake was spot-ted by Dharmendra
Panigar who shot the video. Lack of pigmen-tation is common in animals like white ti-gers, white pigeons and white pythons, but this rarely happens in snakes.

Jaipur: Congress in Ra-jasthan will hold pro-tests on June 11 against inflation. PCC presi-dent Govind Singh Do-tasra said that demon-strations will be held by the party at all district and block levels against the rising prices of pet-rol and diesel.
“The Congress Work-
ers will protest at petrol pumps with placards in their hands,” he said.
Meanwhile Dotasra said Central govern-ment failed to provide vaccine, oxygen and medicines to corona pa-tients and deaths oc-curred due to Centre’s wrong policies. He said Centre should also in-troduce vaccine for children below 18 years.
IT’S EASY TO PREACH THAN TO PRACTISE!
The legislators are often seen preaching the public to
make Jan Aadhar cards but the facts show that 127 out of 198 MLAs in the state do not have Jan Aadhar card. The political leaders often give statements of making women as head of families but the data shows that 19 out of total 26 of the female MLAs also do have the Jan Aadhar card. The claims
of furthering the cause of women empowerment seems to be limited to statements and documents only. The leaders do not have any specific reason to give for not possessing the card. Some give the excuse that they have other documents like ration card etc.

The chief accounts officer of the medical

After the trap, the anti-corruption bureau conducted raids at the residence of the ac-cused officer during
which Rs 32.50 lakh in cash, FD of Rs 48 lakh, documents pertaining to investment in share market, gold and silver ornaments etc.
In Barmer, the clerk of Deluo ka Tala gram panchayat Jagdish Nath was arrested while tak-ing a bribe of Rs20,000 to include the names of MGNREGA workers for the payment of wages. He had demanded Rs200 per worker. After verifi-cation of the complaint, a trap was laid and the accused was held.

Jaipur: Expressing deep concern over the issue of contaminated water, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has directed Chief Sec-retary Niranjan Arya to hold emergency talks with the higher officials of Punjab government to solve the problem.
On the instructions of the CM, Arya spoke to his counterpart in the neighbouring state and urged him to take immediate action for the prevention of pol-luted water. He con-veyed the concerns of Rajasthan by writing a letter in this regard.
Citing the guide-
lines of the National Green Tribunal, the Chief Secretary re-quested Punjab offi-cials to take appropri-ate action for the pre-vention of pollution in the Sutlej and Beas rivers. The chemical waste released by fac-tories in Punjab is pol-luting water reaching Ganganagar and Ha-numangarh districts.

In his plea, Manish said that a false FIR was registered against him without evidence on February 2. He argued, being an IPS officer, Un-ion Home Ministry is the competent authori-ty to sanction prosecu-tion against him. POSTAL REG NO. JPC/010/2019-21
CAN STATE GOVT RESTORE BOARD OF REVENUE'S LOST HONOUR?Rajendra Chhabra
ow that the State govern-ment has re-ceived some respite from
Corona and the state work is again gaining momentum, the govern-ment has now set focus on its agendas. Amongst all, one of the major agendas is to bring the Board of Revenue back on its track and to revive and restore its honour. After the ‘historic’ raid by the Anti Corruption Bureau, the entire Board has come to a collapse. Its Chairman - R. Ven-kateshwaran - has come under controversies and suspicion and two of its members - Sunil Shar-ma and BL Meharda - have been arrested whereas, the third mem-ber, who is also under suspicion - Manoj Ku-mar Nag - is set to retire in the ongoing month. Therefore, the appoint-ment of new Chairman and members has be-come a necessity.
The post of Chair-man is a cadre based post on which officers only of the grade and pay scale of Chief Sec-retary can be deputed.
As of now, there are 6 ACS available namely Ravishankar Srivasta-va, Veenu Gupta, Pawan Kumar Goyal, Rajesh-war Singh, Subodh Agarwal and Sudhansh Pant. However, of these, since Ravishankar had fallen under controver-sy during his previous stint, hence he can not be sent to Board yet again. Subodh Agarwal and Sudhansh Pant are holding important posi-tions in Secretariat and therefore, there appears to be no logic in distrub-ing them from their cur-rent assignment.
This leaves three IAS, who are serving as ACS, but are senior to the Chief Secretary and are therefore ‘paying’ for the seniority by being post-ed outside the Secretari-at. These three are Veenu Gupta, Pawan Kumar Goyal and
Rajeshwar Singh. Of these 1987 batch IAS Veenu Gupta is the sen-ior most and is serving as Chairman of Pollu-tion Control Board. On seniority basis, she can be a serious candidate but keeping in mind ‘other factors’, she is un-likely to leave Jaipur. At the time of Niranjan Arya as CS, she was also a strong contender. Moreover, her husband is former CS DB Gupta, who is currently serving as Chief Information Commissioner and lives in the bungalow allotted to his wife at Jaipur.
A 1988 Batch IAS Pawan Kumar Goyal is serving as the Chair-man of the Rajasthan Canal Board, where the work load is extremely minimal and for several days, not even a single file comes to the table of the Chairman. Goyal is
a hard task master and has an immense experi-ence of handling affairs such as Education, Transport, GAD, UDH and Agriculture Depart-ments. He has proved his mettle while serving as Registrar of Coopera-tives, Commissioner Ra-jasthan Housing Board and Chairman Pollution Control Board. There-fore, he is more than ca-pable of handling the affairs of Board of Rev-enue although it is being said that he is caught up in family issues.
A 1989 batch IAS Rajeshwar Singh is serving as CMD of RSRTC and apart from serving as the chief of Panchayati Raj Depart-ment from 2018 to 2020, he has never held a ma-jor assignment in previ-ous governments. After taking over the reins of Roadways in November
2020, he has proved his capabilities in manag-ing covid. However, the challenge posed by Board of Revenue is far greater than Roadways. Infact, the word in bu-reaucratic circles is that Singh is running from pillar to post to en-sure that he is not sent to Ajmer to handle Board of Revenue.
Now, the State govern-ment has to decide who among Veenu, Pawan and Rajeshwar is to be handed the ‘key’ to the office of the Chairman of Board of Revenue. In-terestingly, the govern-ment has to appoint new members as well and apart from 3 from the RAS quota, two mem-bers will have to be ap-pointed from IAS quota. It is said that Vinita Sriv-astava, who has been functioning at the Board for past several years, could be shown the door and new advocates will also be appointed.
The image and hon-our of the Board of Rev-enue has been tar-nished inexplicably and in order to bring back its lost prestige, the State government will have to take some bold and strict measures.

GIVE IMPETUS TO LARGE SCALE EXPANSION OF DAIRY SECTOR IN THE STATE: CHIEF MINISTER
First India Bureau
Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that along with agricul-ture, animal husbandry activities also play an important role in our economy. “There is im-mense potential for the development of this sec-tor in Rajasthan. Keep-ing this in mind, the state government has made many important announcements in the field of animal husband-ry in the budget. Efforts should be made to fulfil these announcements in a time bound manner, so that the share of this sector in the state’s GDP increases and the in-come of farmers and livestock farmers also increases,” Gehlot said while addressing the re-view meeting of Animal
Husbandry Department and Rajasthan Co-oper-ative Dairy Federation (RCDF) through video conference from the Chief Minister’s resi-dence on Tuesday.
“During our last ten-ure, we had started Mukhyamantri Pashud-han Free Medicine Scheme, understanding the suffering of ani-mals. Now work is be-ing done to strengthen the medical facilities for livestock up to vil-lage and dhani. For this, new veterinary sub-centres are being opened in 1478 gram panchayats across the state in a phased man-ner and 200 veterinary sub centres and 198 vet-erinary dispensaries are being upgraded to veterinary hospitals,” Gehlot said and direct-
ed the officers that these budget announce-ments should be com-
pleted on priority.The Chief Minister
said that in view of the
abundance of livestock in Rajasthan, there is a huge potential for the
development of dairy. “There are still a large number of villages in the state, which have not yet been associated with the dairy sector in an or-ganized manner. RCDF should expand Saras Dairy by connecting these areas. Like agricul-ture, processing should be promoted in dairy also. Along with this, em-phasis should be given on effective marketing of dairy products by ex-panding their range on a large scale. This is such a sector, through which huge employment op-portunities can be cre-ated and it can be an im-portant step in increas-ing the prosperity of farmers and livestock farmers,” Gehlot said.
The Chief Minister directed that allotment of new dairy booths
should be expedited by running a special cam-paign in the state. “In the next two months, more and more dairy booths should be allot-ted. These dairy booths would be able to become a means of livelihood for the people from the point of view of em-ployment in these diffi-cult circumstances of Covid. People would not only get employment through dairy booths, but it would also help in expanding the dairy sector in the state,” he said, further adding, “Special emphasis should be laid on con-servation and promo-tion of improved breeds of cows in the state.”
Meanwhile, Agricul-ture and Animal Hus-bandry Minister Lal-chand Kataria said that
veterinary sub-centres and veterinary hospitals are being opened in the state to promote animal husbandry activities and veterinary facilities up to village and dhanis. “Efforts are being made to take services on ur-gent temporary basis to meet the shortage of vet-erinary personnel till the recruitment process is completed perma-nently,” he said.
Gopalan Minister Pramod Jain Bhaya said that the department is working with full com-mitment for the strengthening of Gaush-alas in the state. He said that efforts are being made to speed up the ex-pansion of dairy booths by coordinating with the Urban Bodies De-partment and the Coop-eration Department.
In the next two months, more and more dairy booths should be allotted. These dairy booths would be able to be-come a means of livelihood for the people during the Covid crisis.

On a historic and successful completion of relining of a whopping 47 kms of Indira Gandhi Canal in merely sixty days, CM Ashok Gehlot said “During the complete fi ve year tenure of previous government, merely seven kilometers of relining could be done whereas in our government 40 kilometer relining has been completed. This will set new standards for works in the future.”
PILOT PLANS A MEET UP WITH CAMP MLAs ON FATHER’S DEATH ANNIVERSARY...FROM PAGE 1
Similarly, MLA Ved Prakash Solanki, on Tuesday said that al-though he had no idea of Pilot calling a meet-ing of legislators from his camp on June 10, he would be the first one to reach, if Pilot does call a meet. Meanwhile, on his late father Rajesh Pilot’s death anniversary on June 11, Pilot is plan-ning to individually meet all his camp MLAs, though there may not be a big public function at
Dausa like last year.Interestingly, current
PCC Chief Govind Sin-gh Dotasra has shrugged his hands off the Pilot ‘verbal barb’ saying that the matter does not fall under his jurisdiction.
Amid all this, Gehlot loyalist and senior Con-gress leader Dharmen-dra Rathore is literally burning midnight oil and luring a few ‘self- proclaimed’ Pilot camp MLAs ‘warm-up’ to Ge-
hlot, a bid in which he has reportedly been suc-cesfull!
Notably, after the re-bellion of the Pilot camp on August 11 last year, the Congress had formed a committee comprising KC Venugopal, Ahmed Patel and Ajay Maken. The work of this concili-ation committee was to listen to the demands of Sachin Pilot and his sup-porting MLAs and re-port to the High Com-mand. Ahmed Patel, a member of the commit-tee, has passed away.

SGST unearths fake bills worth ` 18L from govt firmVimal Kothari
Jaipur: The Jaipur Anti-evasion-3 branch of SGST has taken ac-tion against Rajasthan Electronics and Instru-ments Limited (REIL). Reliable sources in-formed the Anti -Eva-sion Wing about a sup-plier from Pirana Road of Piplaj in Gujarat identified as Mindra Green Energy LLP, which supplied invert-ers with bills of Rs 18 lakh although upon
checking, the e-way was found to be only of Rs 5 lakh. The consignment was shown sold on March 30, however, its actual supply was being done in June. This has
now raised several questions, as to why was the supply done now when delivery was shown to be done on March 30 and where was the sold consign-ment kept for all these days? Suspicion also rises on if there was some ‘understanding’ with REIL before the ending of the financial year? The consignment was sent through Sri Nath Cargo (Bill num-ber 96129) which has been seized by SGST.

MLAs seek refund of `3 cr from MLA fundFirst India Bureau
Jaipur: With the Cen-tre announcing free vax for all, the Rajasthan MLAs are now hoping refund of Rs 3 crore de-ducted from their MLA LAD fund. The fund was deducted on the direc-tion of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for pur-chasing vaccine through global tender. Now, as the Centre will purchase and provide free vaccination, the MLAs are eyeing refund of Rs 3 crore, which they can use in their re-spective constituencies. The contribution had raised Rs 600 crore.
The CM Ashok Ge-hlot will take the final decision with regard to refund, said official sources. As such there may be a rethinking on the decision of the de-ducted salary of the of-ficers.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s State Chief Spokesperson and MLA Ramlal Sharma thanked PM Narendra Modi for providing free vaccine across the country while demand-ing Rs 3 crore back. “I would like that the Ra-
jasthan government should soon release Rs 3 crore taken in the name of vaccination so the amount may be used for development works,” he said. About funds collector for vac-cination from other sources, Sharma ques-tioned whether the CM intends to use those funds for some other public welfare works or return to the donors. “The people of Ra-jasthan also want to know this from you (CM),” he said.
RELIEF FOR STATE
The State government has suffered revenue
losses worth Rs 8,000 in May. Free vaccination has brought some relief to the state as Rs 3,000, to be spent on vax purchase, will be saved and might be used in fl agship schemes.

After ‘Storm’ Dhariwal sitting coolAbhishek Srivastava
Jaipur: After having a successful ‘coup’ and his mastermind stroke to put BJP’s Sheel Dhab-hai on Jaipur Mayor’s chair even for 60 days, UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal, who re-turned to Jaipur on Monday evening, after his three day hectic Kota tour, was seen sit-ting ‘cool’ at his official residence on Tuesday morning. As usual, he was monitoring his ur-ban development work across the state & coro-
na operations especial-ly in his hometown, Kota with a remote con-trol mechanism. Dhari-wal normally disposes official files the same day they reach him, by 12 am midnight but sometimes when a ‘lonely’ Dhariwal sud-denly wakes at even at 4 am, he again starts signing official papers. After the demise of his wife Komal, six years ago, this has now be-come a routine affair for Dhariwal, who has a single leader Ashok Ge-hlot and also a single agenda of bringing some sort of revolution in urban development sector in the present difficult corona times.

here is no official defi-nition for a personal brand, and a simple way to describe it would be to address it as a collec-tion of your talents and skills and how you
choose to represent them. For some, it could be a single piece of paper when looking for a new job, but with the advent of digi-tal media and the growing im-portance of online presence, there are new opportunities to curate and establish your iden-tity and credibility in your field. Here are a few tips to help you create a more engaging and unique personal brand:
CLEAN YOUR SOCIAL MEDIABefore anything, one of the most visible and easily traceable trails of information is your active digital footprint - it can be any-thing from comments you leave on public posts, the infor-mation you choose to submit to websites to what you post on your feed. Iden-tify relevant p l a t f o r m s where you can share y o u r t h o u g h t s and materi-al related to your prac-tice. Update your channels and/or website with achieve-ments that show-case your best attrib-utes and work. Either personal or for business, It
is beneficial to have a recogniz-able profile picture and be con-sistent with posting across the board and in alignment with your beliefs. You can even inter-act with like-hearted voices through networking with people
in your indus-try, both
offline and
online. This can not only boost your visibility but also align you with potential collaborations and help you develop real rela-tionships.
PUBLISH ORIGINAL CONTENTOnce you have decided on the social media channels you would like to use, get a clear idea of the kind of content you would like to share. This goes without say-ing, but you should decide what your key focus is. What are you passionate about? Whatever you are an expert at – is it something fairly broad (for instance ‘the confectionary market’) or a niche (such as “handmade chocolates”)? This can greatly help you narrow down what you write and speak about. You
should also keep in mind that whilst writing, developing an angle also lends you a position to develop each piece of content as uniquely yours. Along with this, it is also helpful to have an understanding of your prospec-tive audience/readers as well,
since that can help you stay on point when planning. From there on, there are multiple plac-es where you can get a start. You can publish on LinkedIn, Insta-gram, start your blog on Word-Press or Medium – the possibili-ties are endless.
BE GENUINEAuthenticity is essential for building trust with your audi-ence and creating better content. Your prospective audience can very easily determine what is genuine and authentic. When you decide what your key focus is and stick to it, the process of amplifying your brand voice be-comes an easy feat to achieve. Build your credibility through written content on things you are knowledgeable about and be accommodating to your audi-ence, seeking their opinions, be-ing respectful, and showing a willingness to learn and im-prove from your mistakes. Al-though this is bound to come naturally if you are consistent with what you post, it is always good to remember that every-thing you post online is an op-portunity to contribute to your brand. Keeping this in mind, sharing your perspective and benefitting people through standing by what you truly be-lieve in is an extension of the overall value that your content can offer them.
When you choose to put your best step forward by making small changes, the improvements that follow will do more than just presenting a nice profile page to look at. The impact of Covid-19
Covid has impacted the whole world and there is no doubt that the pan-demic will change the
world as we know it. The Indian hospitality sector has been hit badly and is left with nothing but very low demand and very few scopes of bookings in the future. Social worker Sanjay Sardana shared his concern for the Hotel industry, in an exclu-sive interview with City First!
“These travel bans, border closures, event cancellations, quarantine requirements and fear of spread, have placed ex-treme challenges on the tour-ism and hospitality sectors. Where big hotels still have hopes, small and struggling ho-tels are looking for exit accord-ing to sources. Since this sector generates a lot of employment, it has also contributed to higher
unemployment rates. Daily wa-gers, waiters, cooks, drivers are now unemployed and have no other work to do. The hotels are
also experiencing wastage of the food material that was stocked up,” he said. He further added, “If we talk about the food sector, lockdown made people explore cooking which in turn had a shocking effect on the food industry. People also pre-ferred cooking instead of order-ing because of hygiene issues.
Not only this, nowadays peo-ple are ordering homemade food from small startups run by mostly housewives.
Trends like ‘staycation’ and ‘workcation’ are being opined by hospitality professionals to remain dominant in near fu-ture. Food sectors are still alive because of home deliveries, Zo-mato and Swiggy. While the pandemic has brought the hotel sector in India to its worst, we hope that the industry will be in recovery mode very soon. The Government has already taken several steps in the right direc-tion by announcing its plans to set up a COVID-19 Taskforce to undertake measures necessary to combat the economic effects of the pandemic on the country.
