XXIV.::-1'RAVELLERS' BUNGALOWS-

~· -1'bere are three kind~ of travellers' bungalows in the district li):dak bungalows, (ii) rest houses and (iii) Political Civil ami Military· Wo~k;; inspection bungalows. - '

:_: Offi.cials :drawing Rs~ 100 per mensem and over, N. C. O.'s 'DAk bungalows and rest and private ·g;ntl~men,. are entitled

!rouses - ·· · to accommodation 10 a dak bungalow on payment of one rupee a bead for

every 24 -hours, with calf and one-fourth fees for short stays not exceeding 6 , aud _·two .hours respectively; in a rest house the charge is eight annas wit4 half fees for less than five hours. Officials in 'superior service drawing less than Rs. 100 per men­sem -and: European- SGldiers are entitled to shelter in a special room set apart in the compound on payment of one anna a head for every 24 -hours,_ with reduced fees for lesser periods as above, Servants are -.housed in out-houses ; sepoys, police, etc., in th 8 adjoining shelters or bard a shtldfiina.•, free of charge. One_ anna and six pies a: day are charged for every horse tethered in the compound:of adak bungalow and re't house respectively. Eight annas a ilay is charged for each tent pitched in the compound by:iljieiSon-no~ ·u-sing the dak bungalow; four anoas is charged for each wheeled \'ehicle, planquin or tent and one anna for each horse, package, box, etc., remaining more than 24 hours in the compound before or after_ the arrival of the owner. In dak · bungalows the khaneama supplies food at the prescribed rates (sol-_ diers at half rates) aud also cooks provisions furnished by tra-­vellers on payment of eight annas a day per head. In rest }jouses traYellefif must- make their own ·arrangements for supplies and­cooking,: hut· where possible the man in charge provides wood, etc., on payment. None but Government officers, travelling on dut-y, can stay in a dak bungalow for more than 48 hours if other officers require accommodation, unless specially permitted by the officer in charge. ·
