Why not celebrate diversity by creating a supercool poster.

You could use your computer to drag differentimages together.

You could also use a magazine and cut updifferent images and put them altogether tocelebrate diversity.

You could create a poster that reflects the diversity theme using painting, drawing,cartooning or sketching - using pencils, inks, felt pens, pastels or crayons.

Phonics - Consonant Blends ‘pr’ and ‘sc’This week in our phonics lessons we are practising some more consonant blends. Consonant blends are agroup of 2 or 3 consonant letters together, that each retain their own sound when pronounced in a word.

Today we will be practising the consonant blends ‘pr’ and ‘sc’.

In words like ‘pram’, ‘print’ and ‘present’ we pronounce both the ‘p’ andthe ‘r’ to make the sound ‘pr’.In words like ‘scar’, ‘scarf’ and ‘scrub’ we pronounce both the ‘s’ and the‘c’ to make the sound ‘sc’.

Writing - Holiday RecountYou are going to write a recount about your school holiday in lockdown. A recount is a retell of what youhave done.When you write a recount you need:

● an orientation sentence (who, what, where and when)● a sequence of events which tells all the things you did

in the correct order● a concluding sentence or personal comment to say

what you thought of your holiday

Remember to use:● a new line when you write about something new, which makes a new paragraph● sequencing (time) words, eg ‘first’, ‘after’, ‘then’● past tense verbs● describing words

Remember to use sentences that:● make sense● have spaces between the words● have a capital letter and full stop● only use one ‘and’

Play a game of ‘Simon Says’ with someone to practice using positionallanguage.

If you are able to, play a game with a familymember. Choose a specific place in your home andgive them directions to walk to it. Ask them toevaluate the effectiveness of your instructions andask them for feedback for how you could have beenclearer, if at all. Take turns giving each otherinstructions to walk to different places. At the endof the game, think about what successes you had with the task. What went wrong? What did you learn?

Booklet: Find the ‘My Special Place’ page in your workbook. Choose a special place around your homeor local area. Write instructions for someone to follow to get to it. Remember to use left and right turnsand include references to special features and landmarks to lead them to your special place. Cansomeone follow your instructions and get to your special place?
