2.6.2 - Attainment of Programme outcomes and course outcomes are evaluated by the institution.

The DAV PG College has adopted a systematic method for measuring thelevels of attainment of course outcomes, programme specific outcomesand programme outcomes.

1. Attainment of the Course Outcomes

The course outcomes is measured through syllabus, completion ofsyllabus, continuous evaluation (internal evaluation), setting up ofquestion paper, evaluation, and result.

At the Departmental level the Heads of the Department and theteachers who are engaged in any class strive to complete the coursesin time and in some cases remedial classes are conducted for thestudents who they identify as relatively average. The 75 percent ofcompulsory attendance to qualify for writing the examination of thecourses is adhered to, to ensure students participation in theclass. The attendance is also tied with marks. The continuousevaluation is done through tests, quizzes, written assignments, presentation of papers, oral presentations, field work and so on.The end semester examination of every course is based on writtenexamination of three hours, the question paper of which is requiredto test the knowledge of the student from every unit prescribed forstudy. The external examination is conducted as per the norms of themother University.

1. Attainment of the Programme Specific Outcomes

The programme specific outcomes are measured by taking the aggregateresult of all courses in a given programme of an individual student, and then the average performance of all the students in a given

Page 23/138 31-03-2022 11:10:01

programme.

1. Attainment of the Programme Outcomes

The general programme outcomes for PhD programmes all across thedisciplines of study in the University are that the scholars makecontribution to the existing body of knowledgeby discovery, innovation, problem solving, establishing of new perspective etc.The number of students completed PhD during the period of assessmentis evidence of the attainment of the programme outcomes.

At the Post Graduate level and Undergraduate levels, the attainmentof programme outcomes is measured through students’ progress tohigher studies, either in DAV or BHU main campus or in any highereducational institution in India. Another, measurement of attainmentis students’ placement in companies and institutions.

The feedback system of different stakeholders which is in place inthe College helps it to measure and reckon the attainment of theprogramme outcomes. The online student feedback system providesinformation pertaining to the relevance of the course, availabilityof the course material, and course’s importance in terms ofemployability helps to measure its learning outcomes.

The University has also utilized student satisfaction surveydeveloped by NAAC (for conducting it during assessment andaccreditation process). The college also seek feedback on its own,for measuring the attainment level of course, and programmeoutcomes. This is shared on the college website under feedbackanalysis section.

2.6.2 - Attainment of Programme outcomes and course outcomes are evaluated by the institution.

The DAV PG College has adopted a systematic method for measuringthe levels of attainment of course outcomes, programme specificoutcomes and programme outcomes.

1. Attainment of the Course Outcomes

The course outcomes is measured through syllabus, completion ofsyllabus, continuous evaluation (internal evaluation), setting upof question paper, evaluation, and result.

At the Departmental level the Heads of the Department and theteachers who are engaged in any class strive to complete thecourses in time and in some cases remedial classes are conductedfor the students who they identify as relatively average. The 75percent of compulsory attendance to qualify for writing theexamination of the courses is adhered to, to ensure studentsparticipation in the class. The attendance is also tied withmarks. The continuous evaluation is done through tests, quizzes, written assignments, presentation of papers, oral presentations, field work and so on. The end semester examination of everycourse is based on written examination of three hours, thequestion paper of which is required to test the knowledge of thestudent from every unit prescribed for study. The externalexamination is conducted as per the norms of the motherUniversity.

1. Attainment of the Programme Specific Outcomes

Page 88/138 31-03-2022 11:10:03

Annual Quality Assurance Report of DAV POST GRADUATE COLLEGE

The programme specific outcomes are measured by taking theaggregate result of all courses in a given programme of anindividual student, and then the average performance of all thestudents in a given programme.

1. Attainment of the Programme Outcomes

The general programme outcomes for PhD programmes all across thedisciplines of study in the University are that the scholars makecontribution to the existing body of knowledgeby discovery, innovation, problem solving, establishing of new perspective etc.The number of students completed PhD during the period ofassessment is evidence of the attainment of the programmeoutcomes.

At the Post Graduate level and Undergraduate levels, theattainment of programme outcomes is measured through students’progress to higher studies, either in DAV or BHU main campus orin any higher educational institution in India. Another, measurement of attainment is students’ placement in companies andinstitutions.

The feedback system of different stakeholders which is in placein the College helps it to measure and reckon the attainment ofthe programme outcomes. The online student feedback systemprovides information pertaining to the relevance of the course, availability of the course material, and course’s importance interms of employability helps to measure its learning outcomes.

The University has also utilized student satisfaction surveydeveloped by NAAC (for conducting it during assessment andaccreditation process). The college also seek feedback on itsown, for measuring the attainment level of course, and programmeoutcomes. This is shared on the college website under feedbackanalysis section.
