e During the tenure, as Director (Projects), NTPC Ltd, total 10288 MW capacity got commissioned, that corresponds to about 20 % of current installed capacity of NTPC Group Companies. Commissioning of another 5000 MW capacity is on the anvil.

o NTPC exceeded 12th Plan Mid Term capacity addition Target of 11920 MW by adding 13395 MW which is the Highest ever capacity addition during any plan period in NTPC.

o Achieved ever heights in NTPC's Capex addition. Bettered budget utilization records year on year for the last four consecutive years :

2013-14 2014-15 2015-16 2016 17

21,797 Cs 23, 239 Crs 25, 737 Crs 28, 252 Crs

o Multi pronged Strategic planning for Accelerated Capacity Addition and Planning for New Projects in NTPC basket, which will result in NTPC becoming 128GW+ Company by 2032.

• Reduction in Project cycle time of 500 MW units (Ful l load commissioning in 39 months from Investment Approval) - Ever best in country and at par with world benchmarking

e Projects aggregating to more than 2000 MW put back on track through resolution of long pending commercial issues at Koldam, BRBCL & Bongaigaon.

2. Special Initiatives for Critical Projects:

e Koldam HEPP(4x2O0MW): Innovative strategies at Koldam HEPP to start 1st stage impounding up to EL 560 M, mucking in front of DT Gates, concreting in Gate grooves and elaborate pumping arrangement to handle remaining seepage during plug construction along with parallel impounding resulted in saving of one year impounding time of 2" largest earth Dam Hydro Projects of Country. Fill ing Decanting Chamber from Reservoir by high capacity pumps enabled saved more than a month of commissioning time. With resolution of design issue of excitation system by BHEL, this enables COD of station within shortest time after commissioning for any large size hydro Projects in the country.

• Kudgi (3x800MW): NTPC Kudgi Project had faced formidable challenges in the form of Non availability of Right of Use land of about 28 Km stretch required for make-up water pipe line corridor, land issues for Railway siding works, total failure of Coal Handling Plant agency. The innovative funding arrangement approved by the NTPC

Board for CHP agency has enabled the commissioning of CHP and 1" 80O MW NTPC

Bulk project. Railway siding via duct has been completed in a record time of 6

months to facilitate Unit-I & II commissioning in FY 2016-17.

• Solapur(2x660MW) & Meja(2x660 MW): The timely intervention in resolution of

Engineering, supplies and site construction related issues with BG R and HPE has led

to the revival of Solapur(2x660 MW) and Meja(2x660 MW) Projects in 2013-14,

resulted commissioning of 1 Unit of Solapur in Apr'17 and commissioning activities

in progress at Meja.

• BRBCL(4x250MW): As Chairman of BRBCL(4x250 MW) (JV with Railway), the land

issues for which project was stranded lor last four years was resolved through

various forum like PM review of Pragati and regular follow up with Chief

Secretary(GoB). Due to non-availability of land nearly 25 facilities inside plant were

relocated with minimum cost to start the commissioning activities, with this Unit-1&11

has been commissioned.

• Tapovan Vishnugadh HEPP(4x130 MW): Progress was affected due to cash flow

problems of agencies executing Power House and Barrage civil works. Through timely

intervention and regular interaction with top level of these agencies, a mechanism

for resumption of works at required pace was implemented. With above

arrangements in place Penstock and Power House works are nearing completion and

River Diversion was carnied out successfully in Feb.'16 due to revival of Barrage civil

works.

• Barh-l: (3x660 MW) Project was stuck up due to non-supply of material by TPE

Russia and demanding extra money to the tune of 230 Million USO from NTPC for

further execution of the contract, decision on termination of contract and re

awarding has put the project back on track which led to start commissioning

activities.

3. Policy Advocacy

e Advocacy of various key issues related to Power sector like regulatory aspects,

environment policy, land Acquisition, Fuel Pricing, etc with various Governmental

Agencies and Regulatory authorities.

• Based on NTPC's suggestions, Ministry of Coal eased the process and issued
