VectaStar Gigabit capacity roadmap

Four principal LTE requirements

1. Capacity

● Current VectaStar Gigabit

− Provides a 300Mbps Ethernet sector capacity on a single channel.

− Each link is capable of full sector capacity

− Current 2+0 AP doubles sector capacity to 600Mbps using 2 channels per sector

• Wide-Band 56MHz channel radio doubles sector capacity to 600Mbps per channel, 1.2Gbps for 2+0 sector

● IP optimisation* in Terminal Station and

● Radio Controller increases sector

● capacity to ~ 1.4Gbps (link ~ 700Mbps)

LTE 20MHz carrier, 2+2 MIMO base station maximum throughput is 170Mbps

VectaStar Gigabit – Other LTE requirements

Four principal LTE requirements (cont’d)

2. Synchronisation

− VectaStar supports flexible synchronisation schemes, currently E1, 1588v1, 1588v2, external clocking and NTPv4

− SyncE support on VectaStar Gigabit - hardware support now, see Roadmap for software release

− Flexible platform means evolving standards can be tracked

3. X2 switching and flat network support

− VectaStar Gigabit supports high-capacity switching from core to end-points, and from end-point to end-point, simplest flat network hierarchy supported

4. Low end-to-end latency

− LTE requirement is maximum 10ms end-to-end

− VectaStar IP round trip latency today is average < 0.6ms with 99.9% < 1ms
