AirTel introduces Nationwide Freedom with

Free Incoming Calls Bharti launched new plans in January 2003, offering never-before benefits to both existing and new customers : • Mobile to Mobile incoming free (pre-paid & post-paid) • Post-paid tariffs @ 50 paise / min. • Medium users to get all incoming calls free from any phone (plus free S T D minutes) • Heavy users to get free unlimited incoming and outgoing calls (plus free S T D and ISD minutes), besides other attractive plans.

Cell-to-Cell @ Rs.2.99 In January 2003, the GSM mobile industry cut national long distance tariffs from a former peak of Rs.9 / minute, down to Rs.2.99 / minute, anytime, anywhere, for all mobile-to-mobile calls of 50 kms and above. This new tariff benefits over 10 million cellular users, and simplifies the existing distance linked tariff, to a one rate plan, indicating the death of distance and time for all cellular mobile subscribers across India.

Let's Value Ourselves

Having grown into a pan-India service provider spanning the entire spectrum ofTelecom services, we needed to propagate the spirit of "one force - one company. " Hence, we needed to institutionalise the Bharti Values and ensure that these were uniformly understood and practised across the group.

Institutionalisation of Bharti Values at the Corporate Office was driven by seven "Cross Functional Task Forces" through "Value Visualisation" and the "Value Engagement" route.

"Value Visualisation" was achieved through a variety of imaginative ways like value posters, presentations, e-mails, skits, movie clips, value tags, contests, games and many other activities. The activities surrounding the Values Visualisation Process were exciting, full of surprises and humour. As voiced by the employees, they couldn't wait to get to the office in the morning to find out what the value day was going to bring to "us."

"Value Engagement" was done through "value weeks" where each employee was expected to engage with the value and demonstrate actions / behaviour consistent with each value. The behaviours were spotted through employee polls, wherein the winning employee/s were rewarded and recognised.

To wind up, all the employees formed a human chain of lights and pledged to keep the value flame burning.

The Wooden Bowl A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.

The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. "We must do something about

father,"siLid the son. "I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, andfood on the floor. "

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There,

Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometime he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence. One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, "What are you making?" ]ust as sweetly, the boy responded, "Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up. "The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.

The words so struck the parents that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens and how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone. People love that human touch — holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

The Seven Wonders of the World!

A group of students studied the seven wonders of the world. At the end of that section, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the seven wonders of the world. Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids 2. Taj Mahal 3. Grand Canyon 4. Panama Canal 5. Empire State Building 6. St. Peter's Basilica 7. Great Wall of China.

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The quiet girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many." The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help you decide."

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the seven wonders of the world are :

1. to touch

3. to see 15

4. to hear."

She hesitated a litde, and then said

"5. to run

6. to laugh

7. and to love.

It is far too easy for us to look at the exploits of man and refer to them as "wonders" while we overlook all God has done, regarding them as merely "ordinary." May you be reminded every moment of those things which are truly wondrous. Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like no one's watching.
