Preface Ten years may not be considered long

by many people. For us it has been a

memorable journey. A journey that

has seen a small company emerge as

one of India's top five across sectors

and India's finest telecommunications

services company.

This commemorative edition (a book

as someone called it) is an attempt to

map the chronology of this existing

success story. The idea is to capture

the commitment made by all at Bharti

to work and win together.

The thought of being able to resurrect

each golden moment of Bharti in a

single edition was an exciting yet

daunting one. Each picture,

memorabilia, article, quote, letter and

photograph tells a story. Let us take a

small trip down memory lane.

It tells the story of passion, team work,

innovation and desire to make a

difference. It's also a dedication to the

vision of Sunil Mittal and the

commitment of all, especially the front

line staff that has helped our flag fly

higher with each passing day.

Dear colleagues,

Over the years, there have been many milestones achieved - each contributing towards

the growth of Bharti.

Our journey for leadership started from a single mobile licence in a single city. Today we

celebrate the completion of a decade of leadership, of making a difference. Bharti has

proved that a company with dreams and passion can make a difference, and achieve the

heights most can only think of.

Today, with an all-India footprint, we are the market leader in a country that has the

potential to add millions of new customers. Our goal is to capture a significant and sizeable

share of this exciting market and reinforce our leadership position.

We have now taken significant steps to build an institution that can compete in the global

market, and that delivers great customer experience.

While we celebrate the achievements of the last decade, let's look at the years to come with

the same desire, passion and team play that has brought us to this point.

I, personally, am looking forward to the year ahead, as there are many more milestones

which we have to achieve together.

M Best wishes

Sunil Bharti Mittal
