Lapauw is proud to present the newest additions to the range of solid industrial laundry machinery: tunnel washers and complete logistic solutions!

This missing link in the product range has now been filled in, by taking over a manufacturer with years of experience. By integrating the manufacturing plant in the Lapauw Group, the plant is foreseen with procedures to guarantee quality, longevity and low cost of ownership by selecting quality parts, and simple but solid construction techniques Lapauw is world famous for.

The TransFLEX, already present in the worldwide market with more than 400 units sold, is hereby getting the support of the full group and subsidiaries. Not only is the knowledge carried by the engineers of the whole group, but the distribution and local support is brought to customers all over the world.

Since the mid 20th century, Lapauw has shaped laundry technology.

Did you know that the flexible chest technology is in fact a Lapauw invention? And the “steamless laundry” concept would not even exist if it wasn’t for the gas heated ironers, a technology that saw the light in the Lapauw factory, in 1995. Ever since the very first ironer, in 1950 (with flexible chest), Lapauw has been on the vanguard of laundry technology, as Lapauw always adopted an “out of the box” approach to the specific challenges that come with laundry machinery.

Today, Lapauw manufactures a wide range of laundry equipment :• Lapauw is one of the few manufacturers of heavy duty washer-extractors. • Lapauw has the widest range of ironers, all of them equipped with the flexible chest* technology.• Lapauw complements its ironers with a full range of feeders and folders.• The Hot Stream tunnel finisher is well reputed for the first class finish it delivers.• The Lapauw Trolley Wash takes care of trolleys or even disinfects hospital beds.

But most important of all, owners of the more than 8000 machines sold in over 40 countries know the Lapauw machines as highly efficient, long lived machines that assure the lowest operational cost.

Innovation

Lapauw invests heavily in R&D. The aim is not just to innovate, but to go beyond innovation by creating benefits for the customer. When developing new machines, we care about improving efficiency, ergonomics and ecology.

The R&D team is located in the factory in Kortrijk, where they stay in close contact with sales and manufacturing. This allows them to keep a finger on the pulse of laundry business and maintain a “hands-on” approach to Research and Development.

Quality Management

Having obtained the ISO 9001:2008 certificate in 2013, Lapauw is one of the very few laundry machinery manufacturers that can put the ISO seal on its official documents. A seal that is worldwide recognized as a symbol of “business excellence”.

With ISO 9001:2008, we go beyond just the quality of the machines and take quality management into the whole process: from the moment we pick up the phone to the after sales and shipments of spare parts, assuring that our customers are served with the highest level of professionalism.

COUNTERFLOW VS STANDING BATH

There are two different versions of this batch washer. The TransFLEX and the TransFLEX Super.

Lapauw uses a specially designed scoop, able to transfer the linen and the water to the next drum. Not only the bounded water is transferred, but all the water available from the inner drum. The Lapauw bottom transfer versions are able to wash in complete standing bath. Innovation at origin, robust design and many 100’s of machines still running all over the world was the reason why Lapauw is so proud to build further on these successes.

Lapauw is able to offer a great range of tunnel washers, from 7 to 20 compartments, going from 40, 50, 60, 75, 100 and finally a 120 kg tunnel washer. Dryers are available in gas and steam heated versions in 60, 75, 100, 120 and 150 kg.

Extraction presses are available in fitting sizes to the tunnel washers, in low pressure 40 bar or high pressure 60 bar on the membrane.

The standard TransFLEX is foreseen with 6 double compartments. The TransFLEX Super is provided with all double compartments giving more flexibility in different flowcharts. Both type of tunnels are divided in 4 different zones. Pre-wash, wash, rinse and neutralization. The pre-wash and wash zones are standard foreseen with standing bath. This latest stand of technology has the main advantage that the detergents can work optimally. The linen is transferred with the detergents to the next compartment, resulting in a lower water use and a better chemical closing. The rinse zone is standard executed with a couterflow technology, hereby ensuring an optimal rinsing effect.

The whole tunnel can also be transformed to complete standing bath, or complete counterflow for special types of linen (mats with sand, workwear, etc). This is unique and hereby Lapauw offers maximum flexibility in design to all of its customers worldwide.

DRUM PRINCIPLE

The inner drum consists out of 3 mm stainless steel, welded together from the inside and outside, reinforced with stainless steel adaptor rings. This whole rigid unit is standard foreseen with a drive system that has proven its capabilities, and has a very low cost of ownership.

The outside drum will be assembled later in the production process. Between the inside and outside drum, there is a special seal (rubber) to control and protect the water from jumping to another drum.

A cycloid steel spiral does the transport of the linen from one compartment to the next one.

The design further allows an exact separation of the bath in pre-wash, main-wash, rinsing zone and neutralizing zone.

DRIVE

The inner drum is sitting on 4 sets of 4 Vulkollan wheels known for their high strength without memory. Each set of wheels is driven by an individual motor gearbox. The traction takes place on a forged ring (not welded) of minimum 45 mm thickness, and 400 mm wide. This concentric forged ring is placed on a reinforced piece of the tunnel, another ring of 600 mm wide with a thickness of 6 mm. This whole structure makes the drive system super reliable and almost maintenance free. In case of a break down of one of the motors, the tunnel can continue working without any problem with the 3 remaining motors, allowing time for repair or replacement of the broken unit.

The 4 independent driven motros are controlled by 1 frequency inverter allowing for adjustments in speed (RPM) and G-force.
