RESOLUTION NO. 1981-

WHEREAS, SB 45 (Chapter 406, Statutes 1988, approved August 12, 1988 as an

urgency statute. t ing. effect immediately) provided for a voter referendum. to

be presented to the voters of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco. San

Mateo, Santa Clara. and Solano counties as Regional Measure 1. authorizing the

California Transportation Commission and the Metropolitan Transportation

Conmission to undertake a program to finance major bridge improvements, the

construction of new brfdges. and mass transit extensions designed to reduce

brldge traffic in the Bay Area, to be financed by increased bridge tolls: and

WHEREAS. a majority of all the voters voting on the question in each

county at the special election on November 8. 1988 voted affi rmatively,

requi ring the California Transportation Commission to approve the toll

-- schedule proposed by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, which shall

become effective January 1. 1989; and '

WHEREAS. the proposed toll schedule shall.provide for a uniform toll for

all bridges of one dollar ($1) for Class 1 vehicles (any motor vehicle with

not more than two axles and four wheels and not drawing a trailer): and

WHEREAS. the proposed toll schedule for other non-Class 1 vehicles on any -

bridge may not exceed an amount equal to one and one-hal f times the toll rate

in effect for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge on September 1. 1969: and

WHEREAS. if the proposed toll increase for any type of non-Class 1 vehicle

exceeds. by more than 50 percent, the toll. in effect on July 1. 1988 for that

vehicle on that bridge, that toll shall be increased by not more than

one-fourth of the total increase proposed during each of the four succeeding

years; and

WHEREAS. the Metropolitan Transportation Commission shall adopt a proposed

toll schedule, subject to the provisions of Streets and Highways Code Section

30888 for each of the bridges within its jurisdiction; now, therefore be i t

RESOLVED, that MTC adopts the proposed toTl schedules set forth in

Attachment A, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and. be it

further

RESOLVED. that upon approval by the California Transportation Commission

of the proposed toll schedules set forth in Attachment A, MTC adopts the toll -

schedules set forth in Attachment A effective January 1, 1989.
