The first of those big moments is that on June 6, we will welcome Christopher Delp and Lydia Jacobson as professing members through Confirmation. We will also welcome Henry Delp as a provisional member through baptism, and when he is older he will be ready for his own confirmation. All three of these young people have gone through membership classes in which we have talked about the beliefs and practices of all Christians, the uniqueness of the UMC, and what it means to be a member of Tanner Valley UMC. I am so excited for the choice they have made to follow Jesus and be part of Body of Christ. I hope you will join us for this special day. Bring a bottle of water to fill our font. Even more, I hope you will continue to build up these young people and support them as they grow. Over the last year, I have continually been impressed with how thoughtful they are about their faith and what it means to be a disciple. They are quick to invite friends to their church and to offer grace with us adults. June is also my last month with Tanner Valley UMC. The Jacobson family will be moving out of the parsonage on June 25th and heading up to serve Lagrange UMC in Lagrange, IN. These three years have gone so fast. You will forever hold a place in our hearts and I know whoever follows me will be blessed in serving with you. Thank you for welcoming us into your lives and trusting my leadership. It has been a joy to be part of your congregation. I am praying for your future and am confident that God is going to continue to use you to transform the world. This has been a hard year, but you all have made the sacrifices necessary to protect life. I have no doubt that God will bless you in the years to come for your willingness to put others before yourself. As we continue to get back to doing those ministries we have had to put on hold, we see the goodness of God. After a rough year, we get to be witnesses of God’s work in our young people’s lives. These are things to celebrate this June. Big Moments in June June 2021 Tanner Valley Voice Tanner Valley United Methodist Church ZĞǀ ƌLJƐƚĂů :ĂĐŽďƐŽŶ

Upcoming Events in June 4

June has 2 big church moments.

The first of those big moments is that on June 6, we will welcome Christopher Delp and

Lydia Jacobson as professing members through Confirmation. We will also welcome Henry

Delp as a provisional member through baptism, and when he is older he will be ready for

his own confirmation. All three of these young people have gone through membership

classes in which we have talked about the beliefs and practices of all Christians, the

uniqueness of the UMC, and what it means to be a member of Tanner Valley UMC. I am so

excited for the choice they have made to follow Jesus and be part of Body of Christ. I hope

you will join us for this special day. Bring a bottle of water to fill our font. Even more, I

hope you will continue to build up these young people and support them as they grow.

Over the last year, I have continually been impressed with how thoughtful they are about

their faith and what it means to be a disciple. They are quick to invite friends to their

church and to offer grace with us adults.

June is also my last month with Tanner Valley UMC. The Jacobson family will be moving out

of the parsonage on June 25th and heading up to serve Lagrange UMC in Lagrange, IN.

These three years have gone so fast. You will forever hold a place in our hearts and I know

whoever follows me will be blessed in serving with you. Thank you for welcoming us into

your lives and trusting my leadership. It has been a joy to be part of your congregation.

I am praying for your future and am confident that God is going to continue to use you to

transform the world. This has been a hard year, but you all have made the sacrifices

necessary to protect life. I have no doubt that God will bless you in the years to come for

your willingness to put others before yourself. As we continue to get back to doing those

ministries we have had to put on hold, we see the goodness of God. After a rough year, we

get to be witnesses of God’s work in our young people’s lives. These are things to celebrate

this June.

A luncheon meeting of the UMW was held on Thursday, May 13th, at noon. Our lunch was provided by Jean Schmeltzer and Mary Schneider. We all enjoyed pizza and cookie bars. We thank Jean and Mary for being our hostesses. There were 14 ladies present and we enjoyed great fellowship and sharing what is happening in our lives. What a joy it is to get together with friends and praying for those who need our support.

We miss Billie Stockum and pray for her recovery. I thank everyone who has sent cards to my daughter Jen-ni and who has mentioned her in prayer. We are praying for Shirley Schmeltzer as she continues to recover from her surgery. We heard that Bonnie Knox will be moving to a new location the first of June. If you would like to send Bonnie a card, her address is available on a table in the outer hall. Please remember Bonnie in prayer as she makes this transition. Prayers are also needed for Sylvia Waltz as she is going to have surgery soon. Waltz's address is also available in the outer hall.

Thanks to Pam VanDyke for providing the beautiful Mother's Day flowers. Pam has continued June's long time tradition of giving flowers each Mother's Day. We appreciate the flowers and love to have the memorial for June all summer long!

The Missions Committee and other volunteers have been active in the community with on-going support of the YES home, Heart House and the five Oxford houses. There are two Oxford houses in Aurora, two in Greendale and one in Lawrence-burg. Currently, there are seven men and eight women in the Aurora houses, eight women and eight men in the Greendale houses and seven women in the Lawrence-burg house. That is a total of 38 individuals currently in those houses.

May Projects:

Missions delivered Mother’s Day baskets of personal care items to Heart House, and the Oxford houses for women. These were delivered on Friday, May 7th. Heart House women were each given an individual treat bag also . The Oxford houses for women were given a hanging flower basket for their front porch. Thank you to everyone who donated items for this mission. We had so many things do-nated that the baskets were overflowing!

June Projects:

Father’s Day is on Sunday, June 20th. Missions will collect personal care items for the men at Heart House and the two Oxford Houses for men. The following items are needed:

Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant, Body wash

Lotion, Razors, Shave gel/cream, playing cards

Soaps, Sunscreen, Socks, Small flashlights

Small notebooks, Colored pens, Full size candy bars

Please place these donated items in the baskets in the lobby under the coat rack by June 13th. Again, thank you for your support of these needs.

Also in June, the YES home will be contacted to get ideas for craft supplies for the residents. We will not be able to resume personal visits at this time, but we can still continue supporting their needs until personal visits can once again be made.

Future Activities:

We continue to look at a Faith Promise Sunday possibly in October and would com-bine this with a Fall Festival and the Christian Education committee. We would do this in conjunction with the new pastor when one is identified.

And then there is OCC in November. Stay tuned.

All of our activities are only possible with your support and donations. We are grateful for that support.
