Transcript of SUCCESS Academy (SUU) - SUU SUCCESS Counseling
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with your data!
The following information will help you interpret the report data.
The first page of your report shows charts of large (or the largest) gaps in your data. Next, you will see a table with the percentages of all questions filtered
by the standard demographic filters. Counts for all filters are list along the top of the page. Highlighted cells indicate gaps (either above or below) between
subgroups. Please note that each question only has up to 5 highlighted cells for each question indicating the areas with the largest differences. The following
page provides explanations of the highlighted cells, and a ranking of the rating scale questions. The final page is a summary of your overall survey responses.
Interpreting your results:
Highlighted items in your results were shown to have gaps, or to be statistically significant. Statistical significance means that the observed difference between
the responses of the subgroups was large enough that it most likely did not occur by chance. Our software uses a one tailed z-test of significance comparing subgroups
to the overall population and a 95% confidence level (p-value=.05). P-value is the probability of the result occurring by chance.
Please note that just because something is highlighted, does not indicate that it is meaningful. You may have results that don’t calculate to be statistically
significant and aren’t highlighted, but may still be significant. Our software is designed to determine significance by comparing all filter, demographic
questions to the overall population where there is a count greater than 30. Furthermore, large populations can inflate statistical significance. For these
reasons it is important to remember that you, as the interpreter, need to determine what is important in your reports.
Cautions:
While gathering feedback from stakeholders is critical for program improvement, please be aware that voluntary response surveys do have limitations. Before
drawing conclusions on surveys results, please consider the following:
Often times only those with strong opinions will complete surveys. The more surveys taken, the more likely your results reflect the opinion of the overall population.
If the entire population did not have equal access to complete the survey, your results may have left out subgroups of the population (i.e. those without computers,
different languages, illiteracy, etc.).
Occasionally survey respondents do not answer questions honestly. This may affect the overall accuracy of your results.
Please keep this information in mind as you draw conclusions from your reports.
