spacing was wider, then we would find

Rectangular Pattern.

Annular (Ring like) Pattern is

found in hills with alternate hard

While Dendriatic Pattern is not

found in non uniform lithology

but in uniform lithology and

gentle slope regions. (like North

Indian Plains)

indicates sudden decline in atmospheric

pressure. This may be due to

atmospheric instability and stormy

weather. Whereas cold dry air and

temperature inversion indicate stable

atmosphere. Hot dry weather has lower

temperature but NOT SUDDEN DROP

in Barometric reading.

3) Ans.: D

Monsooni currents and in winter North-

East Monsoon winds causes North-East

Monsooni ocean current.

18) Ans.: B

Exp.:

These regions have low sea surface

current).

Statement 1, 3 and 4 are wrong.

19) Ans.: A

Exp.:

When the Eastern Indian Ocean (off

Western Indonesian Coast) has higher

pressure than Somali Coast, the IOD is

positive.

retreating monsoons because

monsoon reverse it's direction and

Statement 2 is incorrect.

The retreating southwest monsoon

season is marked by clear skies

and rise in temperature. The

land is still moist. Owing to the

conditions of high temperature and

humidity, the weather becomes

rather oppressive. This is

commonly known as the ‘October

heat’.

In the second half of

October, the mercury begins to fall

rapidly, particularly in northern

India. The weather in the

retreating monsoon is dry in north

India but it is associated with rain

in the eastern part of the

Peninsula. Here, October and

November are the rainiest months

of the year.

Statement 3: is correct.

The widespread rain in this

season is associated with the

passage of cyclonic depressions

which originate over the

Andaman Sea and manage to

cross the eastern coast of the

southern Peninsula. These

tropical cyclones are very

destructive. The thickly populated

deltas of the Godavari, Krishna

and Kaveri are their preferred

targets.

Every year cyclones bring disaster

here. A few cyclonic storms also

strike the coast of West Bengal,

Bangladesh and Myanmar. A bulk

of the rainfall of the Coromondal

coast is derived from these

depressions and cyclones. Such

cyclonic storms are less frequent

in the Arabian Sea.

researchers have named the lizard as

'Indrasaurus wangi' after Lord Indra.

The new lizard had teeth unlike any

other previously known from the Jehol

Biota, thus expanding the diversity of

this clade and possibly suggesting a

unique diet for this new species.

The name Indrasaurus was inspired by

a Vedic legend in which the god Indra

was swallowed by a dragon during a

great battle (the dragon here referring to

Microraptor).

The lizard was also named after Prof

WANG Yuan from IVPP, who is also

director of the Paleozoological Museum

of China.
