SisterVillageisabrotherhoodoftwoormorevillages,betweenvillagesthathaveahighlevelofthreatfromtheMountMerapi disasterandavillagethatisconsideredsafefromthethreatofMerapi asabuffervillageinthecontextof

disasterriskreduction.

THEBENEFITOF SISTERVILLAGEPROGRAM

1. Evacuation location destinations arereserved:• Betterintegration,coordinationofIDPsmanagementmodelbetweenIDPsoriginvillages

anddesignatedbuffervillages.• Moreintegratedflowofdisasterinformation,reducingmisleadinginformation(hoaxes)

thatmakespeoplepanic,andpreventingchaos.

2. Improvingtheresettlementprocess:• Major constraints ofdataaccuracy,prolongeddataprocessing,andchaotic IDP

management.• MorereliabledatabaseofIDPswhohavethepotentialtoevacuate,makeseasierin

deliveringaidtoIDPs.

3. Assisting services to IDPs is based on their livelihood and kinships:• The number of cattle inNgargomulyo ishigherthanits householdpopulationandthe

communityconsiders Tamanagung as the most appropriatelocationfor themto evacuatetogether withtheircattle.

4. Community based Disaster Risk Reduction:• Willingness to provide humanitarianresponse andto reduce incrementaldisaster risks.• Fromvillagesinriskproneareatomuchsafervillagesintheneighboringregion.
