I am very happy to present before you the first volume of the college newsletter.
The Aim of the newsletter is to showcase before the readers the multitude of events that
were carried out during the academic year. The most important credit goes to our
students who played a vital part in transforming the idea of the college Newletter into a
reality. I congratulate Prof. Mahesh Chawla who put in his maximum efforts by working
in close co-ordination with the students.

A visit to Fagvel village was organised on 24th March, 2018 and entire day was
spent in the village. We were warmly welcomed by the villagers. Our students had
arranged various sports and games programmes for the children of the primary and
secondary school there. All the students collaboratively took out rally on the theme
"Save environment". A medical check up camp was also organised for the villagers

The Finishing school programme of the Govt. of Gujarat was successfully conducted in two phases for the Third Year
students. In the First phase, training of 50 hours was given to students and the areas covered were communication skills, life
skills, employability, public relations, presentation skills, computer literacy, personality development, verbal and non-verbal
reasoning. The topics covered in the second phase were etiquettes, confidence, interview techniques, grooming, manners
and body language.
"I would like to thank Education Department of Gujarat Government as well as my college for providing a wonderful
opportunity to learn new through Finishing School.These 100 hours training has helped me a lot to raise my capability and
due to this only,I have recruited in TCS.Finishing School provides a final touch to educational career."

On 19th February, 2018 a blood donation camp was organised in association with
Indian Red Cross Society. An overwhelming number of volunteers participated with
vivacity. Around 65 students and faculties donated blood. The blood donors were
provided with a blood donation certificate card.

Environment Day was celebrated at Shri K.K Shastri Government Commerce College
on 20th February,2018. Various activities such as tree plantation, class cleaning and rally
on environmental awareness were held. Students cleaned their classes and college
campus, even faculties also supported them. The whole day was ended with a message of
CLEAN INDIA, GREEN INDIA.

On 21st February, 2018 Food Stall Day was organized at Shri K.K Shastri
Government Commerce College in which students participated enthusiastically. There
were total eight food stall of various food items such as dabeli, sevpuri, panipuri, sev-
khamni and many more. There was a stall of cold and hot drinks too. Some participants
encouraged everyone to live healthy by eating healthy food. They had a stall of fruit juices
and fresh fruit dish. All the participants handled their stall very efficiently and sold
delicious and healthy food at a very reasonable prices. Total profit of Rs.1750 was
collected and this amount was used for charity by college. Thus whole day was ended with
a message of social service.

traditional attire and represented the culture of their home state. To make the traditional day more entertaining various

On this event the Co-ordinator of Sports Authority of Gujarat University V.D Vanar was invited as a special guest.
Students enthusiastically took part in games like lemon-spoon, coin finding, running, kho-kho, slow cycling, sack race, kabaddi
and musical chair.
"If you don't see yourself as a winner, then you cannot perform as a winner".

Youth Festivals are indeed a refreshing change from the usual monotony of classes and examinations. It provides the youth a
platform to showcase their latent talents and brings the college atmosphere alive and rejuvenates the minds of the youngsters.
On 6th, 7th and 8th September, 2017 our students participated in the Gujarat University Youth festival .A total fifty students
participated from our college in various competitions like Skit, Mime, Folk
dance, Rangoli, Elocution, Debate, Light Indian Vocal, On the spot photography,
collage, postermaking. The bubbling enthusiasm exhibited by participants. In
the city zonal level, our college won in Folk dance, Rangoli, Skit, Light Indian
vocal and debate. In the Inter zonal level we secured a prize in debate and
Rangoli.

conducted round the year for the same. These include lecture series by qualified doctors on women's health and nutrition. Expert
lectures on women related laws and rights, hands on training programmes to promote entrepreneurship, Cultural events and
dramas pertaining to gender sensitivity and many more

Our college actively participated in the Grand Education Fair organized on the 2nd, 3rd , 4th and 5th of February, 2018
at the Gujarat University Convention Centre, Ahmedabad. A large number of student voluteers actively participated in the

The placement cell of the college had yet another fruitful year in 2018-19. This camp was organized on 27th February,
2018. The college acted as an interface between the students and various companies. Overwhelming numbers of students
participated in placement camps. Among them our four students Monika Mudaliyar, Sonukumar Yadav, RakshitJadav and
Kalpesh Joshi were recruited in TCS.

On 18th January, 2018 Yoga and Meditation camp was organized by H.H. Mataji Nirmala Devi Sahaja Yoga Trust. The
importance of Sahaja Yoga, Kundalini energy and its benefits were discussed. All students did Sahaja Yoga and experienced a
surge of inner spiritual energy. They shared their experience after this yoga session and how they felt. It was a delightful
experience for the students.
"Yoga is journey of the self, to the self, through the self".

The Gujarat University Start-Up and Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC) supports startups, entrepreneur and
innovators in Gujarat and facilitates the promotion of a culture and spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation across the
university.
A seminar on Start-up and Entrepreneurship was held in the college campus by GUSEC and Josh Talks on 21st
February, 2018 The seminar was specially arranged for students about start-up and entrepreneurship and also to encourage
them towards the opportunities of becoming young entrepreneurs.
The Gujarat University Start-Up and Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC) supports startups, entrepreneur and
innovators in Gujarat and facilitates the promotion of a culture and spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation across the
university.

opportunities.

A seminar on career opportunity in the Banking sector was held on 11th January, 2018 by a team from NIIT. The NIIT

Commerce College by NIMCJ(National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism)
for the students of T.Y.B.Com. The college invited faculties from NIMCJ Shri Shashikant
Kumar, Shri Kaushal Upadhyay and Ms Abhinandini Tiwari as Guest Lecturers. The
faculties of NIMCJ trained students on how to write News Report, role of Media in
communication , Media as a career. The students enthusiastically participated in the
various activities conducted and gained knowledge on media through a short film
prepared by the students of NIMCJ.Students learnt about Media and Communication at
the end of the session and each participant received a participation certificate by NIMCJ.

A certificate course on Youth Co-operative society was organized by YUVA VIKAS
MANDAL from 10th July 2017 to 15th July 2017 at Shri K.K.Shastri Govt. Commerce
College. The programme was conducted by the trainers Shri M.P.Patel and Ms Dixitaben
Patel who involved a mass of 69 students through lectures on various topics related to
Youth Co-operative Society .They also conducted self- learning activities amongst the

A certificate course on Youth Co-operative society was organized by YUVA VIKAS
MANDAL from 10th July 2017 to 15th July 2017 at Shri K.K.Shastri Govt. Commerce
College. The programme was conducted by the trainers Shri M.P.Patel and Ms Dixitaben
Patel who involved a mass of 69 students through lectures on various topics related to
Youth Co-operative Society .They also conducted self- learning activities amongst the
students. The students were trained to form their own Co-operative society and were

Education TripEducation Trip
Shri K.K Shatri Government Commerce College arranged a one day
education trip for final year students on 20th Jan, 2018. The trip was specially
organized for learning something new along with fun at Ganpat University. 104
students were taken there. Though the trip was about learning new other than
regular study, advertisement making workshop was held for students. In which
students came to know that how to prepare an attractive advertisement through
guidance of experts. Alongwith learning, various entertainment activities were
also held there. Students of our college performed marvelous dance performance
and won second prize.
