MOTTOService before Self

MISSIONDPS-Bopal Ahmedabad is committed

to provide education that helps

to develop children into balanced

personalities, with sound values of love,

kindness, devotion and service before self.

VISION‘Lead, Care and Inspire...

To bring out the best

in each and every child.'

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENTEach and every Dipsite will grow up to be a well-balanced personality with internal

and external values carrying forward the vision of the school. They will learn to respect,

accept and embrace the differences across varied cultures. They will develop their potential

by believing in themselves as capable individuals. They will learn to create, to lead, to love,

and live life fully.

My heartiest congratulations to the Principal and his team on this landmark event of the Silver Jubilee celebrations! It is indeed a matter of great honour and pride for me to be part of this esteemed committee.

The past year has been unprecedented. The world is facing its worst crisis since the Second World War. All

of us, in every age group and from every community, have had to confront the deadly and debilitating

Covid-19 virus. Educational institutions have been compelled to close down. Classes have had to be held

online, posing a challenge to students, teachers, and parents. I am glad – and proud – to say that the Delhi

Public Schools in general and DPS- Bopal in particular, have met the challenge successfully.

As I write this, a second wave of the pandemic is sweeping over the country. But I am confident that, with

your unstinting support, we will overcome and emerge stronger than before. I applaud the efforts of the

academic and non-academic team which led to the smooth conduct of academia during this crisis.

Heartiest Congratulations!

I heartily congratulate you and your illustrious team of educationists and teachers on the Silver Jubilee of

DPS, Bopal, Ahmedabad.

During these 25 years, all of you have made this institution a glowing example of eminence and

excellence by your hard work and dedication. Your school has come of age and has been moving from

strength to strength during the quarter century. It has become one of the first 'Green' schools in Gujarat. It

has 'smart classrooms' equipped with latest educational and information technology tools.

I wish many-many more years of progress and success to the school. I have no doubt that it will continue

to excel and continue to be a workshop of the best of academicians, managers, technocrats,

educationists, and social servants to the nation.

Once again, my best wishes to all of you on this auspicious occasion!

Congratulations to team DPS Bopal for completing 25 glorious years! It has been a spectacular journey

which, I am proud to say, has been a personal dream come true for me as well.

Even though an institution is established with an entrepreneur's vision, but to see it take off on the path

to success and achieve so much with immense focus and resilience has been a joy to see.

Over the years, DPS Bopal has grown from strength to strength. Not only has it developed a state of the

art infrastructure, it has developed some of the best teaching learning teams and processes too. These

have paved a way for learning for other educational institutes and created a healthy ecosystem too. This

is a remarkable value of collaboration and teamwork that has always been displayed by the immensely

qualified and talented team of DPS Bopal.

I would like to mention here that the efforts of each and every member of the DPS Bopal family over

these decades, contributed tremendously to bring it to this stature. So I congratulate the first employee

as well as the newest member of the family to have upheld the DPS flag and kept it flying high over the

years.

You have earned your repute with hard work and perseverance and the fruits are visible across the world

when we see the alumni carrying the DPS Bopal name proudly on their shoulders and have made it a

name to reckon with.

I wish you more strength and power for the years ahead!

I always believed that growth is life. I had a vision of a burgeoning campus, full of bustling activity with

my students standing tall on every platform. Today, the institution stands as a leading K12, school

nurturing students to become competent, compassionate and creative thinkers. The Silver Jubilee of the

school demonstrates the faith that parents have invested in the vibrant educational process over this

span of time.

The institution I had envisaged stands before me in brick and mortar, extending its arms to the virtual

realm. Providing a stimulating environment through a curriculum without boundaries has crafted a global

outlook though firmly grounded in the local values in 'glocal' citizens who appreciate the differences in

cultures while focusing on the humane aspects similar to all peoples around the world. As netizens in this

digital world, they extend the same courtesy that they would in person, upholding the values of the

school both as students and alumni.

In this rapidly changing world, my objective remains to inculcate the qualities of dedication, sincerity and

integrity enabling individuals to remain life-long learners, ready to face the challenges of our times. This

coffee table book captures the essence of the journey from the foundation to the Silver Jubilee of the

school. Let us move forward with faith and trust!

Word web, time tables, weather charts, and graphic organizers are used for research work and aid students in preparing creative power

point presentations with the latest ICT tools. The academic curriculum for the Preschool has been inspired by globally accepted teaching

methodology - Gardener's theory of Multiple Intelligences, Reggio Emilia approach, Piaget's Cognitive Theory and Montessori Method

which have been incorporated to initiate disruptive classrooms aiming to develop and nurture glocal learners. The school believes in 'Each

& Every'. Every student is supported to learn, grow and shine as per their individual potential despite their difficulties. The school provides

support to special needs students through its Prerna wing. A range of optional subjects are offered and necessary guidance provided.

Flipped learning and Competency Based Activities have been the foundation for the holistic development of students. Blended Learning is

incorporated through Interdisciplinary teaching activities like artistic advertising campaigns, role play and debates. Tangram puzzles help

students understand geometric shapes and acquire a precise vocabulary to manoeuvre shapes.

IN THE CLASSROOM

The school offers optimum opportunities to children for hands on exploration and discovery that fosters confidence and develops critical

thinking. The pedagogy for adolescents is designed by Reciprocal Teaching, Role Play, Art Integration, Competency and Edward de Bono's 6

planned to include activities which focus on encouraging mindfulness and thoughtfulness as well as competency-based skills to create a

world characterised by interconnectedness, awareness and joy.

Online teaching has continued to empower and enrich the students positively. They can work at their own pace and submit assignments

online within the due date. Online classes amidst the Covid-19 outbreak have optimized learning from home through various online

practices. Teachers working in tandem with the IT department ensure interesting and interactive online classes through Zoom, Google

Classroom, Mentimeter, Kahoot etc. Quiz, PowerPoint presentations, videos and pictorial presentations have augmented the teaching-

learning process. Students participate in online debates, songs, dance, role play and assemblies, indulging in a new genre of creativity.

st21 century skills are imbibed through a harmonious blend of a variety of activities outside the traditional classroom. Carnivals are special

occasions which the school conducts on a regular basis to showcase talent of the students as well as highlight the values the school provides

to the community. The Carnivals have been based on innovative themes like Technovanza, Christmas carnival etc. Online activities like

rangoli making, toran making, diya painting, thali decoration, garba, singing carols, decorating Christmas trees have involved students

and parents alike.

Assemblies are a pivotal platform for students to showcase varied talents and skills. Theme based assemblies help students imbibe values,

and create awareness towards indigenous celebrations as well as national festivals. Carefully deliberated themes represented by foot

tapping music, enriching skits, graceful dances and mimes impart information with funfilled and hands on learning experiences.

Promoting stage presence, self-confidence, personality development, are some of the traits inculcated among students. Assemblies

provide a much-awaited chance to each child to perform. Students are provided with an array of inspiring assemblies which are merged

with weeklong celebrations focusing on each of the subject areas. These assemblies showcase innovative thought with creative approach.

OUTSIDE CLASS

Valuable information is shared by students as they participate in motley activities during the Literary Week and Math Week. Each day of the

week is earmarked with educational games, food fiestas, and traditional attire worn by students. These celebrations promote child-centric

activities with riddles and games for the scientifically inclined students and handmade working models for the hands - on ones. Children

revel in different activities depending on their choices and learn experimentally as they are engaged in a direct experience. Focussed

reflection enhances their knowledge.

An exhibition is a platform for students to display their skills in public and

learn to work in groups. As a medium for holistic development of the students,

the school organises art exhibitions called 'Strokes' and 'Studies' where

students present their creativity. During these annual art and craft events,

children express their oeuvre on a fresh canvas. Their fabulous creations are

displayed and admired by parents and guests alike. Celebration of 'Paint Day'

The school plays a vital role in making parents the collaborators in the schooling of their wards. Promoting parents as enormous talent

houses as well as professionals to share their experiences with other parents and the school, helps in spreading learning as they are

considered a gateway to the teaching learning process. Parents’ Club Activities and Collaboration in Learning is an exemplary move in the

direction.

Enhancing knowledge and meeting professionals in workshops and seminars have helped students to gain information about how things

take place. The school conducts various workshops catering to Academics, Art, Culture, Dance, Emotional Intelligence, Leadership Skills,

Netiquettes and Health & Hygiene for the holistic development of the students. Students are given a platform to be a part of the parent

workshops. These help in developing their presentation skills and diction as they demonstrate experiments, conduct quizzes, explain facts

and concepts or enact skits.

The online platform was used effectively by the school to conduct various webinars. These webinars

proved beneficial not only for the students but also for parents and teachers since they covered various

academic and psychological aspects related to online education, stress management, time

management and general well being. Experienced and well-versed speakers shared their experiences

to make educators as well as students adapt to the new normal.

A TIME FOR PLAY

Sports and games increase self-esteem, mental alertness and improve physical health in the students and teach them many life skills like

teamwork, leadership and patience. In classes I -III students attend a general sports period. From class IV onwards students get an

opportunity to opt for game of their choice such as football, cricket, basketball, table tennis to name a few. They are taught skills, rules and

regulations through which hidden talents are recognized. This helps in identifying players for the school team and inter-house

competitions. These sports help students specialise in any one sport to compete at state and national level competitions.

The CBSE in consultation with MHRD and Ministry of Sports, Govt. of India has attempted to integrate Health and Physical Education (HPE)

across the secondary and senior secondary levels. This is to ensure that the Physical Education component which will continue to be

assessed internally is taken up as a cross-curricular, interdisciplinary discipline across the four strands.

Playtime is equally essential as it contributes to the cognitive, physical and emotional well-being of the children. Academic enrichment,

along with participation in organised activities foster healthy and holistic development. Inclusion of play along with work seeks a balance in

the student’s lives that create an optimal developmental milieu to prepare our children to be academically, socially, and emotionally

equipped and lead them into the future.

Activities like Get set go, Balancing fun and Fun races are conducted at Pre-

primary and Primary levels. There have been multifarious competitions

SEWA emphasizes on social awareness and empathy.

Students learn self-management, leadership, effective

communication, creative and critical thinking skills

through various community initiatives. Through this the

students are encouraged to volunteer for initiatives both

within school and outside.

Dipsites continue to reinforce the motto of our school

‘Service before Self’.

‘Compassion for others is the highest form of humanity’.

To promote social change and development in a society

Believing that a child centric approach frames responsible citizens and subsequently accountable leader, the newly elected members of the

School’s Student Council pledge their oath of solidarity and are officially felicitated with badges and sashes bestowed on them by the

dignitaries of the school. The Office Bearers not only uphold the school motto but they also set the social and moral standards to be followed

by their fellow students.

we at DPS-Bopal encourage the students to volunteer for social cause. Supporting for a cause, helping one’s community through drives like

'Pasti se Pustak' and 'Ek Mutthi Anaj' provide an opportunity for students to develop their sensitivity. Under the Global Communities for

Sustainability project, a joint initiative of CEEA and CEE the students of our school worked upon the ‘Sanitation and Hygeine’ of Bopal

Villlage. As a part of this project our students represented India in Australia. The school celebrates ‘Joy-of-Giving Week’ in which books,

games, and toys are donated every year to Seva Sarvapari, Bartimai Institute, Prathamik Shala, and various Anganwadis of Ahmedabad.

Students visit orphanages, old age homes, and homes for the physically challenged to be empathetic towards every individual in the society.

Our school participated in ‘Raahgiri’ by Times of India in which the

students spread the message of environmental protection and

health through fun filled activities. Our students painted the wall

outside the RTO office and ISRO as a part of Swachh Bharat

Campaign with landscapes, their favourite cartoon characters

and visuals on traffic rules in an event organized by 94.3 My FM

and RTO- Ahmedabad. Students, teachers, parents and alumni

participated in the road painting activity ‘Art with Heart’ and ‘Small

is Beautiful’ in which 350 metre stretch of road was painted with

message on save water, global warming, save the girl child, save

environment to name a few as a part of Sabarmati Art Festival. The

students of our school worked hand in hand with the students

from various municipal schools of Ahmedabad.

Significant steps towards sustainability under The Green School programme are taken to imbibe the spirit of caring for the environment

and the earth. ‘Earth hour’ is celebrated every year to encourage conservation of energy resources. The ‘Best out of Waste’ exhibition is

conducted at regular intervals for students where waste materials are put together to make something new and useful. The e-waste drive

was initiated to raise awareness under the programme 'Karo Sambhav'. Every year children take up an initiative to protect birds during

Uttarayan and preparing bird feeders during summer months. Also, activities like un-nailing the trees and planting saplings are taken up

regularly in a bid to improve the green cover of the earth. Seminars, exhibitions and conclaves are organized under The Green School

programme.

The life skill sessions play a very important role in the

overall development of an individual. The Department of

Counselling prepares students for the challenges of the

future by supporting them in their academic, career,

social interaction, personal development and self-

management. It aims at helping students understand and

accept themselves 'as they are'. The Life Skills sessions

indulge in topics like cyber safety, emotional and

physical changes at different age levels, and managing

exam stress. Counsellors conduct parent workshops on

how to adapt/deal with the Gen Z children and their needs

as well as challenges.

Imbibing safety and security is necessary for every individual to develop into a responsible Glocal citizen. To ensure safety of children,

teachers and staff members during disasters like fire and earthquake, evacuation drills are practiced on a regular basis. Personnel from

Fire Safety Department conduct fire safety drills for students and staff. Sessions on Road Safety, Cyber Safety, Environment Safety and

First Aid are organized through experts from the fields.

To inhale the future and exhale the past, asanas nourish healthy mind that infuses positive energy in the body and spirit. Yoga is a path

transforming practice for life. To instil values of a healthy mind, body and soul, yoga has been promoted among the tiny tots as well.

Students and teachers come together to perform their asanas outdoors. Virtual yoga sessions are taken up by the teachers during these

unprecedented times where yoga teachers guide students.

Values help us to grow and develop into responsible citizens. We uphold our value-based tradition by observing one value for a month. The

value of the month is expressed through class assemblies, through a skit or aphorism and various activities are conducted to raise

awareness. Value based education in many ways helps to bridge socio-economic gaps, creates mindfullness and thoughtfullness for

different walks of life around young minds. Along with this the school plays a pivotal role in nourishing young minds through narration of

stories on values and celebration of special days.

Celebrating festivals in the school helps students develop respect and understanding of customs, beliefs and traditions as well as the rich

cultural and traditional heritage. Dazzling performances like songs, folk dances, cultural rituals, mimes and skits are liberally sprinkled

through these engaging presentations.

Drenched in enthusiasm and vigour while celebrating different festivals, young children learn about the significance of celebration. Diwali

is celebrated through Mithai sharing. An eco-friendly Holi is observed to instil unity among diversity. Children's Day is celebrated with great

fanfare when the teachers perform various programmes in a special assembly. Garba Day showcases a day full of traditional dance and

GOING VIRTUALSocial media and technology are integral parts of our daily life. The integration of these is the natural subsequent step.

Since 2009 the School Portal provides an interactive platform to enhance the teaching learning process for optimum results. Parents and

students are updated with scholastic, co-scholastic learning as well as all the important activities of the school through the school portal.

The School Portal connects the stakeholders 24/7 from any location using any device. Students download and submit their assignments,

notes, homework and go through relevant notices and circulars.

Social media is paving the way for new age learning. Its popularity as an open-source information and knowledge sharing platform, the

social channels are all about collaborating, networking, staying connected, sharing and generating knowledge and content. Created on 13

December 2011, the school official Facebook page updates daily events of the school. The school showcases its achievements and shares its

successes through official school page on Facebook.

In the modern-day lifestyle, communication has been the key to collaborate. WhatsApp has been an effective tool of communication

between the school and parents since 2014. Teachers form WhatsApp broadcast group to keep parents updated and informed about day-

to-day activities along with the teaching and learning process. During the pandemic, teachers partook in video conferencing through the

app to keep in touch with their students and the parents.

We have adapted to online platforms like Google Meet and Zoom that ensure students can comfortably attend classes during the COVID-19

pandemic. Students embrace the new normal through submitting assignments, home work and projects on Google Classroom and portal.

The official YouTube channel started in 2020. In just one year it has more than 1.75 K subscribers. It consists of various academic videos,

recordings of important events and Webinars. Teachers made videos on various topics and prepared study material so as to enrich and

facilitate learning which were made available on Youtube. Science teachers performed practical experiments to demonstrate a theory or

draws a conclusion on video for the benefit of the students. Videos on art and dance were also made to engage the students in creative

pursuits.

LIVING VIRTUAL

Nothing can ever deter our sincere spirit of giving to our learners.

Extending cooperation to the parents and students alike, the

teachers began reaching out to parents since the very beginning of

the academic session. To ensure a smooth run through of the

study-at-home phase, they interact with a certain number of

parents every day and facilitate them with guidelines and

suggestions for an effortless implementation of the day-to-day

syllabus planning.

Online education has been making rapid technological advances

globally amidst the pandemic. Educators have meticulously

integrated technology with academics and virtually carried the

classrooms into the houses of the students. Providing videos

created by educators, educational video links, worksheets and

Power-point presentations on a daily basis, has now become the

new normal to help students move ahead with learning in this stay

at home phase.

Conducting virtual class assembly would have seemed a

farfetched story, but the school has set a bench mark, creating a

new pedestal for all. The school conducted online assembly where

the entire class participated enthusiastically. The assemblies were

based on value of the month or on a medley of upcoming festivals

like Raksha Badhan, Janmashtami, Independence Day and

Christmas. The students created videos which were creatively

merged and presented during the assembly.

Social distancing has certainly not dampened the spirits of either

the teachers or the students who have enthusiastically geared up

for online celebrations to enjoy through the new modern mode.

The students regularly dressed up and enjoyed all major festivals

and celebrations like Independence Day, Children's day, Raksha

Bandhan, Janmashtami, Navratri, and Diwali through virtual

mode. The school also organised Christmas carnival online which

was highly appreciated by all.

The school office bearers were felicitated on a virtual platform

and the investiture ceremony was memorable for all students

wherein they received approbation and appreciation for the

new responsibilities.

In sync with the current scenario, the annual art exhibition

Strokes-2020 and Studies-V went virtual. The artworks of

around 600 participating students were displayed on Facebook

and YouTube. These exhibitions were appreciated by one and all.

A series of Facebook live and Zoom webinars were conducted to

engage, enrich and cater to the need of the hour. The subjects

varied from art, dance, yoga, technology to metal and emotional

health. 'Alumni connect' was a special series of webinars

organised to connect with our former students.

The time-honoured school magazine 'MASTERMINDZ' has kept

up with the times and has been issued to all stakeholders as an E-

magazine. We have thereby contributed in doing our bit by

'saving paper'. This magazine has recorded all school events and

results each and every year.

BLAZING A TRAIL

'Education is simply the soul of society as it passes from one generation to another'- G.K. Chesterton

thOur school reaches its 25 year immersed in the process of imparting an education that serves society. We are eternally

grateful for the strong foundation built over the span of 25 years, providing an edifice to take on the challenges of the

future. It forms a perfect base for the ever changing present and unforeseeable future. Moving from chalk boards to white

boards and then to online teaching, education has taken giant strides towards change from the traditional to the new

normal. Incorporating technology into everyday classes has been a large part of the change. Further, emphasis on

stcreativity, communication, critical thinking and collaboration, the bywords of 21 century education, are imbued in the

ethos of our school. As we stride into the future, these bywords transform into the buzzwords that instill skills and

inculcate values that make our students future ready.

School is a reflection of society. Though unpredictable, the changing social face is the bedrock for educational changes.

The synergy between school and society creates a learning environment which enables our young leaders, empowering

them to cope with the flux of change that touches all aspects of society, through a curriculum conducive to acquiring life

skills and employability skills. Cultivating a deep sense of gratitude and contentment through emotional and physical well-

being, leads to greater happiness and more gratifying lives in the world outside. Students are provided sustenance to

develop in the secure precincts of our school.

The portals of the school house future citizens of the world skillfully navigating multi-cultural boundaries with insightful

empathy while addressing the needs of the rapidly deteriorating planet. Essential skills that enable technological expertise

along with academic excellence creating competent leaders who open their arms to embrace the challenges of this volatile

world, are deeply entrenched in the fabric of our school.

We continue to walk on the path that we have adopted embracing change, bolstered by the faith reposed in us by society

and acutely aware of our responsibility to the young people entrusted in our care as we aspire to lead, care and inspire.
